36 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 12/25/2006

I have a 2005 Hyundai Xg350. The air bag light suddenly came on in the car. I brought the car to the dealer. The dealer explained that a plug beneath the seat came out. Although it could have been caused by something getting caught under the seat, there was no evidence of that. The dealer explained that he has seen this many times and has attempted to file a claim with Hyundai but it has always been turned down. I feel that this is a safety issue and if it is happening many times as the dealer described it is obviously a defect in the design.

50 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2002 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 09/10/2005

Airbag wire harness is worn down due to it being located under drivers seat, causing the airbag light to come on and either intermittently stay lit or remain on continuously. Therefore, there is no way to know whether the airbags will deploy or not according to the service rep. The repair is not covered under extended warranty, even though it is a vital piece of safety equipment, and due to poor design it is regularly damaged. I had this issue addressed in 2005, it occurred occasionally after that until last year when the light came on and stayed on all the time. I have been on the internet and there are many complaints about this very same issue occurring with this vehicle dating from 2001, when there was a recall issued, all the way to 2006 when the model was replaced by a different one. According to the remarks, people have had collisions where none of the airbags deployed , or the curtain airbags didn't. There also was a recall in canada. How can a manufacturer get away with such poor quality design for such an important piece of equipment?.

52 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 07/21/2005

Air bag light has been on since bought new in 2005. Hyundai can not/will not fix. Internet search shows 100's of same complaint. Covers 2003 to 2013 many models of Hyundai, but especially the Xg350 model. Have to drive with air bag light on all the time. Srs system not functioning. Major safety issue!!.

53 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2005 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 06/20/2005

The "air bag" dash icon light stays on all the time. Hyundai has "fixed" it once by re-inserting connectors under the driver's seat. The "fix" lasted a couple of days. The vehicle now has 61,000 miles on-still under the 10k mile warranty, and the light stays on still. Hyundai keeps saying that it will cost over $500 just to diagnose. Hyundai has no solution for this issue, the internet searches will show that. This srs light problem is endemic with all Hyundais in the early to mid 2000's. An internet search will show hundreds of srs "light-on" issues with these Hyundais. There is no question that all these model's srs systems are problematic at best and a total failure at worst. All people driving these model Hyundais are absolutely at risk. A recall is positively required. Like I said, just do a search on Hyundai srs/air bag/airbag light and you can see the magnitude of the issue. I can't believe that I am the first to complain about this issue, so what is happening!? in no search is there a solution: check connectors under the seat, jiggle this or that, but no solution that works and no recognition from Hyundai of the problem. . . . And this is a life threatening issue not just an inconvenience. These models need to be recalled and at the very least Hyundai has to come up with a real solution.

54 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2002 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 05/04/2005

The air bag light stayed on after starting the car - all else seemed ok. I called the dealer and he said it was not important that a connector had probably just come loose and that the air bag would probably still work if needed. When I took it to the dealer he removed the driver's side seat and said he found a broken wire and repaired it - at a cost of about $56 - for a car that has a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty. It was suggested that we must have put something under the seat that caused the wire to break when the seat was moved - this seat automatically moves every time the car is started and stopped. About six months later the same thing happened again. This time it was the passenger's seat that had a broken wire under it. This seat is moved less frequently, but it is a power seat. As far as I know the only thing under that seat was a box of tissues. Again I was required to pay for the repair. I believe this to be a design defect in that anything that is allowed to get under the seat will cause this wire to be severed and prevent the side air bags from deploying. I have never had a car that had any problem with items under the seat. Also this design has a sort of "pan" or depression under each seat that traps any loose article left on the floor when the car is stopped and it slides under the seat. It never slides back out when accelerating. This seems to just make the problem worse. I do not believe that any normal item left on the floor of the car should cause this damage and debilitate the air bag system.

55 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2003 Hyundai XG350

Failure Date: 02/06/2004

Passenger airbag light goes off due to something getting touched under the seat. Many times when under warranty, they reset it. But it is no longer under warranty I called to Hyundai to see if this is a defect and to see if the light on means their is no airbag working and complain that if my kid put his foot under the passenger chair or if a book went under it, it shouldn't trigger the airbag to shut off but no one ever got back to me. I called up the dealer and found out that the light on does mean the airbag is off and they are not aware of a recall but this happens a lot. I think it is a defect . Why would make it so that anything can get under the seat to trigger wires to turn off important things. . I would hate to get in an accident and not have a passenger airbag. . . I am not sure when this first started and if st charles Hyundai kept track of each time they fixed it for me.
