Eight problems related to engine burning oil have been reported for the 2003 Infiniti G35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Burns oil at 5 quarts a week or more. Piston rings are defective. Common for this car I've read and there was a recall that Infiniti issued but this has not included my vehicle. Suspension also wears down brand new tires in less than 3 months. My boyfriend has the exact same car and this is a problem with his vehicle also.
Vehicle has an oil consumption issue. Previous owners have owned the car with under 100k miles and always have had oil consumption problems with the car. Currently the vq35de engine consumes about 2 quarts of oil every 2 weeks/300 miles. . The car is always under light load. Car rarely ever sees hard acceleration or high rpms. Previous owner warned me of the oil consumption problem which they dealt with for the full time of owning the vehicle. I also own a 2002 Nissan maxima with the same vq35de engine and has an oil consumption problem as well but not nearly as bad. . Its very simple to google vq35 oil consumption and find a plethora of links to alot of people having the same problems. Seems like the bore on the block is milled incorrectly which causes the oil getting past the top ring.
After purchasing the vehicle, I was driving it around for about a week. I came to a stop one day and my oil light came on. I took it to the dealership and asked them to check it. The dipstick is very hard to read, unlike most cars, long story short the dealership changed it. I don't believe that they did when I got it because of the color. Ever since I have been keeping track of the oil consumption issue that I have been having. I have a aftermarket warranty but they are no longer helping me with my issues (or feel as though I am not being helped) with my car at such low miles I have looked and there are several issues with vq35de motors with oil consumption issues that needs to be fixed. I have and am having sever issues with oil consumption. I just has a compression test and I have #'s but I have to call the dealership, they also just did a leak down test to see if it might be the rings just in case the compression test didn't get it. ** I now currently burn 1. 2 quarts of oil in 800 miles. Was the last and latest oil consumption test that the dealership has run. After passing both tests. The most I have seen my car use is 3qts in 3k. Not goood! I currently have 98895 on the car right now. Please if you can help :) thank you!.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact smelled oil burning when he noticed that the oil warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they performed an oil consumption test which concluded that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer advised the contact to have further testing done before replacing the engine. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The current mileage was 87,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
This is a big problem with this engine, they have a excessive oil consumption problem. My G35 consume 1 quart of oil every 500 miles , the car only have 66,000 original miles on it, Infiniti told me there is nothing they can do due to the car is out of warranty, read on forums about the same issue and there is thousands of Infiniti G35 owner with the same problem, and Infiniti has not do anything about it . There are people that has run their G35 3,000 mile and has damage the engine completely due to the oil consumption problem and Infiniti has turn them down. Telling them there is nothing they can do, I think someone should investigate this issue because there is a lot Infiniti G35 owner that paid a lot of money for a damage car.
Oil consumption, Infiniti G35 coupe. It appears that the engine consumes a lot of oil after 1,000 miles, occurs all the time. I keep adding oil and checking continuously. This has been happening since I've owned the vehicle.
My 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan has an oil consumption issue. Everytime I do an oil change, about 1000 to 1200 miles I check my oil dip stick. It is half way below the full mark. I have repeated done this procedure over 10 times already and have read that this is a common issue with Infiniti and Nissan.
I was driving out of town 200km away when all of a sudden my oil light and engine light comes on so I stop at a gas station and buy one quart of oil(full synthetic) then I check my dipstik and I needed more I used almost 3 quarts of oil and on my way back home the same thing happened so I took it to a garage to see if there is any leaks nothing was found and had to pay to have engine light shut off I also went on Infiniti forums and alot of people are having the same problem that I am I contacted Infiniti and they told me that there is nothing they can do other then doing a oil consumption test I said I would do it and if it did burn if they would replace the engine they said no also I know a Nissan/Infiniti garage manager he told me off record that they know there's a problem with the 6 speed (m6) models witch is what I have but they don't know what and won't do anything about it and I called Infiniti head office in canada and tried to talk to them they where very rude and would not talk to me until I send then a copy of my ownership and drivers license and pretty much hung up the phone on me.
