Service Engine Light On problems of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Five problems related to service engine light on have been reported for the 2003 Infiniti G35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2017

I have replaced the cam position sensor and the crank sensor and my car continues to stall causing the service engine soon light to appear with a loss of power and intermittent stalling. Infiniti has a recall for this problem (service bulletin: NHTSA: 03v455000 cam shaft sensor defective) but they say my car is not included. This is a safety issue because the car looses power and stalls intermittently. The problem occurs when the vehicle is in motion usually at highway speed with the cruise control engaged.

2 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The brake and service engine lights illuminated before the failure. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact about recall 03v45500 (engine and engine cooling) related to the crank position sensor. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that the vehicle was not included. The current and failure mileages were 107,181.

3 Service Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

This is regarding my Infiniti G35 sedan. While driving my vehicle on the highway, the engine suddenly stopped and all the dashboard lights came on. I pulled the car over to the shoulder and started the car again. At this point, the service engine soon light came on. I was able to drive to an Infiniti dealer 5 miles away, with the engine stopping during operation several times. Fortunately there was no crash and nobody was injured or other damage. At the dealer, they diagnosed the problem as a fault crank position sensor, which was a known issue on my car. However, my VIN was not part of the previous recall campaign (01v35700) for this issue. The dealer serviced my vehicle by replacing the crank position sensor assembly at a cost of $334. 65. I have contacted Infiniti and they were unwilling to reimburse my service under the earlier recall campaign. I am writing to notify NHTSA of this incident so it is in your database. I am also requesting that you review the incidents of failed crank position sensors in Infiniti cars and consider reinitiating a recall campaign.

The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 95,000 and the current mileage was 125,000.
