Air Bag Light On problems of the 2008 Infiniti G35

Six problems related to air bag light on have been reported for the 2008 Infiniti G35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. Whenever the front passenger seat was occupied, the air bag warning indicator displayed that it was off. The air bag warning indicator started to flash. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the sensor needed replacement on the front passenger side. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

2 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2017

Airbag light on dashboard keeps flashing and passenger occupant light is on even when a passenger is on the passenger seat. Took vehicle to dealer and they reported that they are receiving code 'b1018 - OCS sensor mat malfunctioning. ' I know that there is currently a recall for this (NHTSA #08-521) but the dealer states that my VIN is not included in this recall, however, my car is has the exact symptoms and codes for that recall. I believe my vehicle should be included in that recall notice.

3 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2016

My passenger side airbag light activated and will not go off. I have had the problem diagnosed as occupant sensor unit failed. I saw a recall on the 2008 Infiniti G35 for this same issue but my VIN # is not showing on the recall. Recall # 08v521000. My car was bought new. Not in any accidents and only has 53,858 miles.

4 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

My 2008 Infiniti G35 airbag and passenger airbag lights illuminated. I reset the lights and checked the wiring under the passenger seat but the lights came on again. I took the car to the dealer and and they came up with code b1018, occupant sensor (unit fail) past code. They reset the lights and recommend changing the passenger seat bottom if the lights returned. The cost?. . . . $6137 but they will give me a discount, charging me $4176. This model was recalled for this problem but not my car. . . According to the VIN. My car was manufactured Sep 2007, right in the middle of the recalled vehicles manufactured interval. I believe Infiniti should be required to assume the cost of this expensive repair by including it in the recall.

5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan. The contact stated that the air bag indicator does not illuminate when a passenger is seated in the front seat. The sensor indicator illuminates whenever the vehicle is in motion. The dealer inspected the vehicle and tested the sensor while someone was seated in and out of the seat. However, they found no failures with the sensor or air bag indicators. The failure mileage was 3,200.

6 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2008

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the front air bag warning indicator would not illuminate when occupied with a front seat passenger weighing 85 pounds and over, as it was supposed to. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times for the identical failure. The technician informed the contact that the air bag was functioning properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 25.
