Front Air Bag Sensor Control problems of the 2008 Infiniti G35

Passenger seat occupancy sensor failure. This disables the airbags for the front passenger. Cost to repair approaches the value of the car ($6k-7k). Seems to be a common issue with this vehicle.

Infinity has a voluntary recall, nstsa #08v-521 for the passenger air bag occupant sensor (OCS) on 2008 infinity G35 with error code b1022. My car has error code b1018 with is the same issue and they will not replace the sensor. They want to charge me $7000 to replace the seat bottom. This should be covered under the recall.

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. While operating the vehicle, the air bag sensor light blinked off and on, indicating a possible failure in the air bag system. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the occupant classification system malfunctioned and the sensor, seat cushion, and air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The contact indicated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000.
