4 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2008 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 02/02/2009

Dear sir/madam, I am writing you because of a problem I encountered with Infiniti automobiles while driving in loose snow. I hope you will consider this a serious issue as it could affect the safety of potentially millions of drivers. Note that the car performs as expected on dry or even wet pavement, but on slushy snow the computerized transmission appears to fail and the car will not drive. Had I been aware of this problem I would never have attempted to drive the car in the snow. I do not know if this was a maintenance problem unique to this loaner or if this is a defect in the algorithm being used to control the transmission and drive train. The problem the 2 wheel drive automatic transmission does not evenly drive the car and causes it to steer almost uncontrollably in loose slushy snow. The drive wheels loose synchronization and essentially stops working on even small inclines. I could floor the accelerator pedal and nothing would happen. The rpms in the car would remain low and the tires would hardly move. My experience on the most recent snow in the washington, DC area on March 1 -2, 2009 I was driving an 2008 Infiniti that was a loaner from a local dealership. I had to drive it from washington reagan airport for about 12 miles to get home. Going south on george washington memorial parkway toward old town in alexandria there are no hills to speak of, only minor inclines. The car I was driving had to be pushed up these minor inclines, and again on the beltway after crossing the wilson bridge to the top of the hill at indian head highway. While the motor continues to run, the car will not move forward unless both wheels have traction, causing the vehicle to essentially stall. I hope that you will conduct test to determine if this is a serious problem, because not only does it cause a safety hazard with steering due to the pulling unevenly I will lead to motorist being stranded under conditions where there is snow on the highway.

6 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 07/18/2008

Well I bought this car from bellflower auto mart thinking that I bought a pretty dependable car come to find out the previous owner was drinking and driving and totaled the car, so now the car should have a salvage title but it doesnt the airbag system in the car does not work at all, the dealer bought the wrecked car from auction and repaired it themselves and sold it to me as if it was never in any accident, I asked for the carfax report but it unfortunately slipped my mind after all the paper work, but I went the next day to return the car after I found all this out and was kicked off the property.

7 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2005 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 10/29/2007

I have a 2005 G35 coupe w/ heavy oil consumption problems. My car is consuming roughly 3 quarts of oil every 2,000 miles and Infiniti has done an oil consumption test and had one of their techs look at my car and they determined that I needed a new engine but they will not warranty a new one for me. The corporate hq told me they took pictures and a sample, that they have yet to show me and are going to void my warranty. I have since taken it to another shop and they don't agree with Infiniti findings and corporate has still not sent me anything in writing or any pictures of their findings. All I got was a phone call saying they were going to void my warranty and I spoke with the service tech and he does not agree with the findings either and said that my modification to my car does not cause that much oil consumption and I am being shunned away by the dealership. I am also apart of a G35 forum and there are many threads/posts of people with the same oil consumption problem and they are getting the same treatment and I believe that this should be a recall on these engines and I need, along with other need to receive a new engine. Infiniti/Nissan knows about this issue but they will not come clean with their findings and are blaming the customer and I honestly do not think it is fair.

Failure Date: 10/24/2007

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan. The contact stated that when he depresses the accelerator pedal, there is a brief hesitation and then the vehicle accelerates rapidly. He took the vehicle to the dealer from where it was purchased and had them inspect it; however, they were unable to identify the cause of the failure. 9 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2007 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 03/01/2007

I have had many problems with my G35x most notably the car jerks violently at or around 38 mph, I have called consumer affairs and the dealer and they both deny there even being a problem. The color is liquid platinum and there seems to be metal flakes in the clear causing there to be thousands of tiny rust spots on the paint.

10 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2003 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 01/11/2007

Copy of what I sent to Infiniti via Infiniti. Com: my 2003 Infiniti G35 has been into the orlando Infiniti dealership twice for a transmission issue. In the last trip it was at the dealer for eighteen (18) days and the issue is still unresolved. After speaking with the service manager, john, I was told that he called Infiniti technical support who stated that the problem is considered normal operation. I would like to know under what circumstances a transmission jerk at around 40 mph is normal, as I have never driven a vehicle that has done this, including the 2007 G35 courtesy car that Infiniti loaned to me. If this is considered normal operation, would not all Infiniti vehicles exhibit this? on the NHTSA. Gov website there are eight (8) pending complaints of owners experiencing transmission problems, and two (2) technical service bulletins listed. Also, after speaking with the service manager, john, it has come to my attention that there are other G35 models at this dealership experiencing the same issues; and theirs are also still unresolved. I am asking that I be treated the way a customer should be, as this situation has been handled very unprofessional. I have documentation of all work orlando Infiniti performed and I would like this to receive immediate attention as I do not feel safe in a vehicle with transmission problems. Thank you.

11 Automatic Transmission problem of the 2004 Infiniti G35

Failure Date: 06/12/2005

Several times when driving my 2004 Infiniti G35x, the car will accelerate when I downshift in the "tiptronic" mode from 3rd to 2nd or from 2nd to 1st. Although this has not caused an accident, I wanted to provide this information to you as I am not sure if this is the way the car is intended to operate. This condition would potentially cause an accident at an low speed (30 miles per hour or less) where the driver was not expecting the car would "lunge" forward when downshifting with a tiptronic transmission.
