Finisher board malfunction, no defroster for front and rear windows,. Radio and ac impaired.
Dashboard has become extremely shiny creating a reflection on the front windshield that obstructs vision. It's blinding when the sun is setting and the vehicle is facing west. It's difficult enough at dusk or dawn, but this added dangerous glare makes it a safety hazard. The dash is also like putty. If I touch it, it actually molds to where my finger moves. That's not dangerous, but the glare on the windshield shouldn't be an acceptable problem for Nissan/Infiniti. It's going to get someone killed. This is a widespread problem!.
The climate control/ audio control unit in my G35 froze a few weeks ago making the system inoperable. As a result the the front and rear defrosters have become inoperable creating a dangerous driving condition specially in the rain. This is a common issue for all G35s made from 2003 -2005 and Infiniti is very well aware of it. However they have done nothing to address it. Back in 2003 they have done a recall but only to a limited number of cars that had a particular part number. But the truth is every G35 with the oem unit is vulnerable to this issue. In ability to control the defrosters affects the visibility which may cause an accident that may result in injuries and or death.
The dashboard near the windshield is melting causing a sticky residue which causes a glare when driving. The glare is so blinding that I hate to drive when it's sunny outside and is a major safety issue. I've read and seen numerous complaints online regarding my make, model and year but Nissan is refusing to acknowledge these complaints and issue a recall. There appears to be issued recalls for certain models such fx35, m35 and some altimas but the issue appears to be much larger problem across the board. Something needs to be done before people start to lose their lives over this egregiousness and negligence and the government needs/should force Nissan to account for this immediately before someone dies because of this.

The vehicle's dashboard is melting, sticky, gooey projecting a blinding glare on the windshield.
Below is what Infiniti sent out. I am experiencing the issue and none of my control panels work. This means that my defrosters on both windows are not an option for me to clear my windshields. This is a safety hazard early morning now as condensation sits on both rear and front windshields. Even though my symptoms are are exactly as described, I am refused a solution. This is dangerous and is a known defect in this model and year car. 2003 G35 sedan audio finisher circuit board voluntary service campaign on some model year 2003 G35 sedans manufactured through August 21, 2002, the audio and temperature controls may not operate as expected. When using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit may become inoperative. In some cases, this can be corrected by turning the ignition switch off and back on again. In other cases, the unit remains inoperative and requires service by an Infiniti technician. To prevent this condition, Infiniti has initiated a voluntary service campaign to replace the audio finisher circuit board on these vehicles at no charge to the customer for parts or labor. This campaign affects approximately 23,998 Infiniti G35 sedans in the united states. Itb03-007 owner notification letter 2003 G35 sedan audio finisher voluntary service campaign dear Infiniti owner: thank you for your purchase of an Infiniti 2003 G35 sedan.
The climate control system stopped working, which includes the defroster. Luckily it occurred in the month of may and not in January when the snow flies, as it could have created a very serious safety issue due to the defroster not working. After looking on-line, this seems to be a very common issue to G35 owners and there are numerous blogs describing the same condition. It is due to an electrical failure within the controls for the radio & climate control systems. It appears the safety issue is being ignored, possibly because it's tied to the radio. If there haven't been any accidents/deaths attributed to this, it's probably only matter of time. Within the NHTSA complaints listing it has been reported numerous times. Please don't ignore it any longer. Imagine yourself on a trip cross county, in January, and the defroster stops working. You might have to continue driving just to get to a town. Or you might risk continuing your trip so as to get home to contact the dealership. I'm sure there are cases where people have done just that, risking the safety of themselves & others due to poor visibility. All because a car manufacturer won't stand behind their product and except responsibility. P. S. My vehicle has less than 69000 miles.
I recently got a used car from my friend, but the climate control doesn't work on the car. The problem has been a long time, but I noticed this after getting this car to me from my friend, but she said she has had this problem for long time. The specific problem is that the audio panel doesn't work, the climate panel is with the audio panel, so the climate control does not work at all. So I cannot control my climate in my car, so the front and rear window defroster all the time, it is really hard to drive. When I checked this problem with dealer and on the web, it is really,,common problem in this year and this kind of car, but the company doesn't have recall for this problem, so the dealer said it costs more than $1,000 to change the panel and to fix all problem. This doesn't make sense at all. Please check this problem, and correct this, thank you for reading my concern,.
Melting dashboard first noticed about 2 years ago. This year is has gotten a lot worse and many cracks in the dashboard expanding. Difficult to clearly see out of the windshield due to the glare produced by the shiny melted dashboard. Infiniti unresponsive.

Intermittent loss of control of front window defogger, rear window defroster, radio, a/c. This happens randomly while driving causing loss of visibility in cold or rainy weather. This problem started happening on rare occasion but the frequency is getting progressively worse and now happens almost every time the vehicle is driven!.
Unable to defog windows because all of the climate control buttons are inoperable. Currently the climate control system is "stuck" at 71 degrees and the radio is completely out.
The ac and radio controls basically none of the dashboard controls are working including defroster which is big safety hazard and as per Infiniti dealership its a radio and circuitboard issues. After looking at internet I have found that there was a recall campaign (voluntary service campaign 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan; audio finisher circuit board) for this issues -> itb03-007b service campaign -> issue description listed below available on the internet. But Infiniti dealer is not accepting any recall on this ground and they are asking for 1300+ bucks to fix this issue. Can someone please help as I can live without ac and climate controls but not without defroster. Also its a trouble that ac auto turns on at full blown speed which cause too much cold in winter and its a health risk for myself and family including 2 kids. While traveling on the interstate at 60mph all of a sudden the gps froze, radio turned off and climate control buttons became non functioning. Unable to use any buttons to control climate, radio and gps. Unable to use defrost button. Affected visibility and had to pull over. Took it to dealer and said it was known issue and radio controls climate and gps and need to replaced with new unit.
The air control on my car went out. The car's radio and air controls no longer work. The air is stuck on 72 degrees cool with a/c on. I was in kentucky at the time and unable to manage my temperature. Car's interior windows fogging up, unable to control defrost or windshield air direction. Problem still exists, when air is on at certain times windows fog up and reduce visibility. This is a big problem with Infiniti owners.
The vehicle hvac/stereo system lost power and quit functioning causing the windshield to fog up. The only way to see was by wiping the inside glass with paper towels. The system malfunctioned over the past months and now is not operational.
My dash has the exact same conditions as described in the news channel link below. My car is a 2007. From 2005 until just recently in 2014 I traveled for work m-f, and when I did my car was parked in my garage. Yet still, my dash appears to be melting. . Read more...
