Side/window Air Bag problems of the 2013 Infiniti JX35

Seven problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2013 Infiniti JX35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

The passenger side airbag seat sensors are calibrated wrong. It does not recognize my 105 pound wife as a person, and therefore turns the airbag off. I raised this issue with Infiniti at least 3 years ago, and they told me that she must just be sitting on the seat wrong. Well, just about a month ago, they finally issued a recall. We took the car in today to get it fixed, and they told us the fix wouldn't be ready until September. Meanwhile, my wife is pregnant and has no airbag in the passenger side of the vehicle. Infiniti needs to get a recall fix ready immediately.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/21/2014

Infiniti did a recall on passenger side airbag. I had no problem with the airbag when I brought it in, but now it's not working properly. The airbag off light turns on while someone is sitting in the seat and turns off when someone less than one hundred pounds is in the seat. It has been inconsistent and unsafe. I've brought the car back with no result.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2014

My infinity Jx35 has had multiple issues in regards to the passenger side airbag system as well as the fuel gage. I have had my vehicle to the dealership for repairs 3 times for both issues and the issues still haev not been resolved. The passenger side airbag does not detect my wife when she is in the seat. Infinity first told me it was a recall issue and now they don't know. The fuel gage moves around sporatically and does not give an accurate measure of fuel in the car. The dealership first replaced a sensor in the fuel tank twice which did not fix the issue, and then the entire dashboard systems and still it has failed to work correctly. I attempted to get infinity to repurchase my vehicle but was denied even though they do not have a solution for my vehicle.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

The passenger side airbag "off" light comes on intermittently when there is a front adult passenger in the seat. Both myself (145#) and my 13 year old son (115#) have had it occur on multiple occasions. I have taken it to the dealer twice (7/8/13 and 1/6/14) and was told the dealership could not duplicate the problem. Dealership stated the Infiniti corporate office flew in a technician to look at the car. Since light did not come on for them, they refused to replace any parts. Light came back on while my son was seated in a proper position (Infiniti was nice enough to provide me with a "how to" sit on the seat article) on 1/14/14 and I videotaped it on my cellphone for proof. I will be mailing a certified letter to Infiniti for violation of the lemon law since this equipment failure could result in serious bodily injury or death.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

The passenger side airbag stays on with a passenger seated some times. Factory rep said after testing it that it is working as designed. It is not a reliable system it may work normal for two or three weeks and then stay on three times in two days.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2013

The contact owns a 2013 Infiniti Jx35. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times because the front passenger's side air failed to recognize when the passenger's seat was occupied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure, however the failure was not corrected and the contact was not aware if the air bag sensor was replaced. The manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 13v069000 (air bags). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was not available and the current mileage was 7,000. Updated 10/22/13.
