1 Transfer Case problem of the 2013 Infiniti JX35

Failure Date: 12/08/2017

As I was exiting the interstate, the transmission just quit working. (mileage around 117,000) luckily I had purchased an extended warranty. I was under the assumption that the transmission was being replaced by my local Nissan dealer. About 6 months later, I noticed the car would occasionally not want to accelerate, would miss, or even not move when shifted out of park. Local mechanic was unable to determine the cause (no codes and unable to reproduce at the time). A couple weeks later as I was driving down the road at around 35 miles per hour the car just started making a clunking noise. I had it towed. Then I replaced the driveshaft, front passenger cv axle, and the transfer case. I thought the car was finally repaired, but it started doing the same thing it was doing before all of these things were replaced. . . Not accelerating, missing, etc. This time the not moving once shifted out of park was happening constantly. However, now it is becoming a major safety concern because it is also happening once we stop at a stoplight or intersection. When trying to accelerate to get through the intersection, it isn't moving! this is very scary when you are just hoping and praying the vehicle will finally decide to accelerate before getting struck by another car. I contacted the mechanic again and took it to him. He drove it and of course was not able to duplicate the major hesitation when shifted out of park. When I mentioned that the transmission had been replaced, he informed me that I was incorrect. It had not been replaced, but instead there had been a "patch" of some sort put on the defective transmission by the Nissan dealer. His suggestion was to "get rid of it. " he said there have been nothing but problems with this cvt transmission. I was shocked! these forums are full of others with the same problems!.

2 Transfer Case problem of the 2013 Infiniti JX35

Failure Date: 08/12/2016

At 36,000 miles, my Jx35's transfer case cracked and it was repaired by Infiniti under warrantee. The indication of the problem was a rubbing in the wheels, I heard a snap and the car basically died. Luckily I was on the street on which we live. At 80,750 miles, the transfer case cracked again. The signal this time was a whirring of the transmission with leaking of differential fluid. With the car out of warrantee, we took it to a transmission specialist (bonded transmission, framingham, MA) to ensure it would be repaired adequately. They basically needed to rebuild the vehicles transmission. We just picked it up today and fingers are crossed that the problem doesn't happen again. The cost to repair was $2999. 83. Documentation of both repairs is attached. This was a major repair on each occasion. Fortunately, the first time, I was alone in the car, on a residential street and there was not incident. The second time, we noticed the leak in the driveway. I'm concerned that if this happens again, we won't be so lucky. Infiniti should be ashamed at producing such an inferior product.
