2 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

Cars steering wheel will clunk and turn opposite directions will reversing into parking spots or slowly taking off from being stationary. This has happened a few times over the course of 4 months and I've only had the car for about 7. Last night I was pulling into my driveway and the steering wheel sharply turned right, I shifted the car to park, and the car just completely died. Nothing had worked at that point, no lights, ignition, keys, nothing. I got out of the car and shut the driver door and everything turned back on except now the steering wheel won't turn unless using unreasonable force. Power steering light illuminated, chassis control. This has also happened on my test drive with the vehicle in December of 2018 with 54,000 miles before purchasing . The steering wheel slightly twitched and I expressed my concern to the dealer and he said it was normal. It was very lightly that you could hardly tell it did it so I wasn't suspicious of the car having problems. This has not almost caused in accidents but I have a 3 month old girl and this is very unsafe and also my only car.

3 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

- [ ] 2014 Q50 sport vq3. 7vhr premium base with 51k miles. You'll just be driving along and the power steering just stops working! the steering gets very rough and the vehicle is difficult to control, it's done it 3-times now! on the warning indicator lights: power steering warning light turns on & the vehicle dynamic control light also. Then on the vehicle information display: chassis control system error (see owner's manuel) turns on. You turn the car off and start it again and it goes away, sometimes. It's happened three times so far, and now it's not doing it it's been working fine for two days now? you never know when it's going to happen and it's very unsafe. The dealership said my basic warranty has expired and I just have the power train warranty left, unless I purchase an extended warranty. This vehicle does not have dast to the best of my knowledge (it's not on the window sticker) and Infiniti says there are no recalls on my vehicle, only 2014's with dast. I believe it needs a software update.

4 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

My brand new Infiniti Q50, with directive adaptive steering, had less than 200 miles on it. Started it up (in cold weather, probably around 20) and the power steering warning light was on and the power steering was disabled. Waited a minute or two for it to warm up, and the chassis control system warning light came on as well. Turned off car, turned it back on and power steering was working. Took it back to the dealer and they updated the steering software. Got the car back yesterday, drove to work today, got in the car to drive home and the power steering and chassis control system warning lights were on again, with no power steering. Shut the car off and restarted multiple times but the power steering never came back. And for something special, I had to keep the steering wheel at about 45 degrees to keep the car moving in a straight line.

7 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/08/2013

Upon startup (in cold weather, but on a warm car that had only sat for 20 minutes between trips), the steering was extremely stiff. Had a steering indicator warning light(s) also show on the dash. Restarting the car several times showed that the steering would start ok (normal resistance), but that turning the wheel more than a little bit would result in a 'thud' sound, the error lights on the dash, and the steering going stiff. After repeated starts of the car, it eventually worked properly. This has subsequently happened several more times to the car in the following days. It can take 20+ cycles of turning the car back off and on again before the steering feel returns to normal.
