Catalytic converter, a/f sensor failed on the interstate when I was driving with kids in the car. Took vehicle to the nearest dealer only to be told that this is a known problem with these vehicles and it was going to cost me $3,100 to repair.
Started car in the morning and it started misfiring very badly. Flashing check engine light. Immediately pulled over and shut engine off. Had it towed to my shop I use they hooked it up to computer and it was diagnosed as a loose timing chain. Basically timing chain replacement this is rediculous only has 129k miles. They claim timing chain and components are good til 300k with regular maintenance. This SUV since new has had synthetic mobile 1 oil changed every 3500 miles. There was a voluntary recall on this issue. Why was it ever taken down now I’m paying the car payment on a car I cannot drive. Till I spend $5000 to have all that replaced.
Our Infiniti Qx56 started misfiring and shaking when driving. We took it in to the Infiniti dealership and was informed it is a bad timing chain. Upon research, we realized there was a recall for this issue on 2013 Infiniti Qx56 models just like ours. However, our VIN did not show on the recall list. Our car has been meticulously maintained. Our research revealed that timing chains in well maintained cars should last up to 300,000 miles. Our car has 105,000 miles. We feel this repair should be covered by Infiniti. We did not pay for a luxury car to have this type of issue. The car is undrivable due to safety concerns and we would like this addressed immediately.

I got code : p0011 (my mechanic said that timing chain has to be replaced) I saw that Infiniti run the campaign as below : dated July 15, 2016 voluntary service campaign 2011 – 2013 Qx56 and m56; timing chain campaign id #: p6305 applied vehicles: 2011-2013 Qx56 (z62) 2011-2013 m56 (y51) check service comm to confirm campaign eligibility 2011-2013 Qx56 important: the following service procedure for 2011-2013 Qx56 is an abbreviated version of the electronic service manual (esm) procedure to replace the timing chains and related components. The claims information is based on this abbreviated procedure. I called Infiniti and they said that this campaign was for limited time and we called you but I never heard or aware about this otherwise I would have got it done . I have all the service record serviced everything from Infiniti dealer and the best maintanace apart from that I get below code also which is makes me to think I did mistake buying Infiniti. P0300 p0011 c1118 c1130 c1a26 c1a14 c1a04 buying car with full upgrade, waste of 98k .
I'm currently dealing with the timing chain nightmare so many others have had and are having. Of course just as most of the others I'm out of warranty and really frustrated that Infiniti hasn't stepped up to the plate to address the problem properly as opposed to renaming the Qx56 to qx 80 to save themselves, leaving consumers scrambling with expensive time consuming fixes to a known defect on their part. Where's the accountability on their part, do a certain number of people have to die or be injured before the consumers are provided with the proper assistance? who really looks out for us? a recall was done in 2016 obviously they need to expand the VIN number.
The timing chain needs to be replaced on my vehicle with under 80,000 miles. Researching the issue I found that this is a very common problem with this specific engine. This is an $80,000+ car brand new and it did not last 80,000 miles. This is an obvious part malfunction due to the design of the vehicle. Infiniti should do something. It is a costly repair.
The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated that while driving at high speeds, the vehicle shook and then lost motive power. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with timing chain failure. The independent mechanic informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would vibrate violently. Additionally, the vehicle had experienced intermittent power loss and had gone into limp mode. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Took car in for maintenance and was told I needed a new timing chain as its an often replaced part and that is failing on my car , I looked it up and found out that its a voluntary recall at present after numerous complaints and the dealer admitted they are faulty but mine wasn't in the VIN range for reimbursement. I had to pay $3800 dollars to replace and wait 10 days for completion, this is an expensive repair on a car of this caliber , yet Infiniti offers no compensation. This faulty chain which is supposed to last a cars lifetime could cause the engine to fail resulting in a hazard to my family.
Timing chain.
SUV would not start so had to get a jump. 1 week later same thing. Had battery tested but was not bad and it had just been replaced by dealer in 2019. 1 week later again SUV would not start. Got a jump and took to jba Infiniti in ellicott city, MD who charged the battery for 2 hours. 2 weeks later, SUV is hesitating to start. I refuse to pay another $186 for them to diagnose and then recharge the battery again. After some research it looks like others are having this same issue. Next, catalytic converters. SUV is 8 years old and jba Infiniti is telling me I need to replace them @ a cost of $7500. This is ridiculous. . . . . I don't have loss of power but I so get the "rotten egg" smell sometimes. I would think this part would be covered under emission warranty for at least 15 years. I have 142000 miles on it.
There was car that pulled up behind me while I was idle in the driveway and as I pulled out no warning beep. . And now the vehicle. Was not cranking for several hours and nothing is wrong with battery and remote is fully charged & have been stranded seval times because if of it. . . This has to be a recall.
Had no prior issues, driving down the hwyat 65 miles per hr. . Car failed. Costed to side of road made it to repair shop and the fuel pump went out, which affected the timming chain and broke the teeth, which has affected the motor. This is a design defect that hundred other folks are having. I could have lost my life with this vehicle.
Code ref tsbno. 16-015 timing chains replacement manufacturer defect and recall.
I own a 2012 Qx56. Check engine light comes on and I take it to the dealer. It's the catalyst system efficiency below threshold (catalytic covers - p0430 code) I was warned before I bought this vehicle about the cats going bad. Infiniti dealer, that I purchased the truck from said "this vehicle has been serviced at an Infiniti dealer since day one. Every possible service that was needed was completed. The owner took immaculate car of this truck. You won't have any issues. " so tell me, if this vehicle was driven exactly how it was supposed to be and yet at 113k miles the cats go bad, why isn't there a recall?? this is a "top of the line SUV" and yet it needs $4500. 00+ in engine repairs at just over 113k miles. Infiniti needs to step up and take responsibility for this issue. If dealerships are warning you about this issue, obviously there is a known issue.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the shoulder of the roadway and turned off and restarted however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
My 2012 Infiniti Qx56 has a loud rattling noise coming from the engine. This started around oct 2020 and comes and go. It has got worse over the last month or so and has started stalling and acting like it doesn't want to go. A few times the car will start shaking while I'm driving. It has been checked out and codes for converter and timing chain are there. Engine light is on. I drive this car with my 2 children and am afraid of the safety issue. I know there is numerous others having these same 2 issues with my year and make of car. Spoke with Infiniti corp. And they will not do anything about it because my VIN is not under the recall. However, the vehicles with this issue that have been repaired under the recall have the same engine and same issues that I'm having. I think all vehicles in 2012 regardless of VIN should be under the recall as I'm seeing so many with these issues.
On June 1st 2020 I took my 2011 Infiniti Qx56 to the shop for having the code p0087. The shop told me that I should take it to the dealership because the problems the vehicle is having are recalled under voluntary safety recall campaign. When I called my local Infiniti dealership they told me my VIN # doesn't doesn't show as recalled. They dealership provided me with the phone number of Infiniti consumer affairs. I called Infiniti affairs and told them about my vehicle they told me that they were sorry but my VIN doesn't show up on their system. The bottom line is that every single thing that I researched and find the wrong of the vehicle comes back with a voluntary recall. Like the fuel system, timing chain, vvt solenoids, high pressure fuel pump. I use vehicle in the city and highway.
While driving in residential/business area my vehicle completely lost power and turned off. I drifted to the side of the road without power steering. Tried to start vehicle again. Vehicle would start but would immediately die-would not idle. After resting approx 5 minutes I was able to start again and continue home. This has happened 3 times in the past 2 months. I am terrified to drive this vehicle again. I also cannot keep the drivers side headlight working. Bulbs constantly blow out at over 300. 00 dollars each.

Catalyst problem p0420 p0420. Seen same vehicles being recalled.
The catalytic converter bank 1 needs to be replaced. This seems to be a common issue with turn 2011-2013 infinity qx 56 and infinity should have issued a recall for the faulty converters.
Takata inflators the vehicle was running on the highway and even after accelerating it won't run enough to get past traffic while changing lane and causing severely dangerous situations.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Infiniti Qx56. When the contact shifted into drive and depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not exceed 25 mph. The contact stated the vehicle was serviced per manufacturer recall number: p6305, but the recall repair did not remedy the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the timing chain failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
I have issues with air compressor and timing chain that just randomly went out, I was told there was a recall or campaign for it with Infiniti I called Infiniti and sent it to the dealership they stated it was not for my actual VIN number but for same car with different VIN number, I asked the question since I am having the same issue that has a recall on another VIN same vehicle shouldn't your company fix all of that year vehicles make and model. I was told no.
Timing chain failure and also catalytic converters failed.
The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti Qx56. While operating the vehicle and depressing the accelerator pedal, a squealing and clapping type noise was heard from the engine compartment. I am experiencing the same issues that have been posted by several others on this site with the catalytic converter and the battery (jn8az2ne3c9****, jn8az2nf1c9****, and jn8az2nc9c9****). I took it to get checked out yesterday and just received a call from the technician. He stated that both catalytic converters have to be replaced and it will cost $5,200. If this is a common issue, why is Infiniti not recalling this as an issue? instead it appears that they are making consumers pay for mechanical problems that they are clearly aware are manufacturing problems. I have also had to call my insurance company to tow my vehicle because the battery was being completely drained. It was towed to Infiniti after a few incidents but of course they could not tell me why I had to keep buying batteries for the vehicle. If Infiniti fails to acknowledge these issues, I will no longer purchase their vehicles. This is outrageous and irresponsible.
Engine light came on dealer states that I need new catalytic converter on my front driver side.
Timing belt/chain failure - recalled and repaired by dealership. When picking up my vehicle from the dealer for the above mentioned repair I was notified that I need new catalytic converter's as now the service engine light was coming on. The service engine light was not coming on prior. After an hour or two researching the cat issue online I have found hundreds if not more instances with the same issue for this vehicle. A bad cat can cause numerous issues with vehicle performance to vehicle fires which could cause accidents putting not only passengers but other motorists at risk. And then there's the damage to the environment. If the timing belt warranted a recall for causing misfires. . . Etc. Why wouldn't the manufacturer include parts of the system effected by the part being recalled? timing belt causes misfires --> misfires cause cat damage/failure, but cat not included in the recall.
