1 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2011 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 12/25/2019

On a full tank of gas I am only able to get about 200 miles before empty. I recently filled up the gas tank and drove 25 miles and I have 3/4 of a tank of fuel left. I mainly drive in the city, but the recent 25 mile example was highway driving with cruise control on.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 05/30/2019

Fuel gauge shows 1/4 tank but it is empty. This caused the vehicle to stall on the highway. Very dangerous situation could have occurred. Was able to find safety beside the highway but thankful it did not happen in the middle of a busy highway.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

I am having an issue with the fuel gauge on my 2005 Infiniti Qx56. The fuel gauge is not reading correctly. It stops reading correctly once it reaches about half a tank of gas. I was driving on the freeway at night and I ran out of gas. This was a very scary situation because I had my kids in the car with me and at the time I had no idea why the vehicle completely shut off because my meter was showing that I had half a tank of gas. I took the vehicle to a mechanic the next day and he was able to tell me after a few days of me taking it by the shop to get a reading, that their was a problem with the fuel gauge reading which meant that the tank would have to be dropped to fix the problem. I later read up of common issues with the vehicle and saw that this was a common issue and that there was a recall for the same issue. I contacted my local dealership and I was told that their was no recall for my vehicle. This is a very serious issue and it could have caused a serious accident. I would like for my vehicle to be added to the recall list so that this problem can be taken care of since there are several vehicles with the same make and model with the exact same issue.

Infiniti/Nissan issued a recall back in 2010 (recall id#10v074000) for fuel gauge/sensor sending unit problem. The same issue is happening on later year vehicles, but no recall has been issued. There are endless reports on the web across many forums where people are having the same problem for something that has been recalled before. See notes from past recall. Recall id # 10v074000 - fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system recall date: Mar 03, 2010 summary: Nissan is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 titan, armada, and Infiniti Qx56 vehicles. The instrument panel fuel gauge may inaccurately display that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty. Consequence: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall on the highway, which could cause a crash. Is this no longer a safety concern? same issue, just later models. . . Mine specifically is a 2011 and I never know how much gas is in it. It fluctuates and shows empty when it's not and shows full when it's not. Please investigate and advise the many owners that are having this problem.

6 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2009 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 01/07/2015

My car ran out of gas on the freeway. The fuel gauge still read 1/4. I have noticed this several times, that I know I am near empty based on mileage but my gas gauge still reads 1/4. 7 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/17/2014

Fuel gauge indicate 1/4 tank during my drive down the freeway during slight rush hour. Car engine shut off while I was in the third lane of the freeway. An accident occurred from rubber necking. Infiniti of elk grove couldn't diagnose it right away and the car died 2 more times, once more on the freeway, and was lucky to glide off the freeway with no power steering. After having it towed 3 times to Infiniti, they finally diagnosed the fuel sensor after we researched the problem and told them what to check. Checked all recalls and this was listed as a problem but Infiniti refuse to cover this defect. After owning a Qx56, fx35 and g35, the rudeness of the repair manager left a really bad taste.

8 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 07/19/2014

Without any warning, the car shut off rendering the power steering and power brakes useless, making the car very difficult to stop and control. The fuel indicator was around a quarter of a tank. Come to find out the car ran out of fuel without any warning. Contacted the Infiniti dealer (dreyer & reinbold) and the national Nissan/Infiniti number (case#15093894). Both said there was no recall and they couldn't help me. It's a very dangerous situation to encounter and I'm just warning drivers of this car and Infiniti's lack of responsibility for this defect.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/11/2012

I have a 2005 infinity Qx56 and recently the vehicle has stalled out while on the freeway because of the running out of gas when the fuel gauge is showing over a 1/4 tank still remaining. Contacted infinity and informed them of NHTSA campaign id number: 10v074000 which says "the instrument panel fuel gauge may inaccurately display that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty" although my vehicle matches identically to the proper make model and year of the recall they state that my VIN is not included with the recall. I do believe this is a major safety issue since my wife was accelerating onto the freeway recently in front of a semi truck when the vehicle stalled out and the semi had to take evasive maneuvers into another lane of traffic which almost caused a serious crash on interstate-94.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 04/13/2010

We receive a letter from Infiniti company because I'm the owner of a infinity Qx56, year 2006 notifying me that the fuel gauge in some of the vehicle may be inaccurate due to a malfunction in the fuel level sending unit, that cause the instrument panel fuel gauge to inaccurately display that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty and that if this were to occur on my vehicle, the vehicle could stall, which could create an unsafe condition which could result in a crash. I never ago has this problem but I ever maintain the fuel level in my vehicle so the fuel gauge reads above the one half position, so I was very interesting to have my vehicle repaired, but I was based in panamã city so I want to know how is the process for the persons that was outside of USA.
