1 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2002 Jaguar X-type

Failure Date: 02/10/2006

First start up onto highway after brief warm up of 3 minutes. Vehicle went into limp mode after hearing a brief howling noise from transmission. Dash indicators read: engine system failure, dcs systems failure and trans failure. Red and amber lights in center came on. Parked in rest area in n. Shifted back into drive and there was a very loud engagement of transmission that jerked vehicle. Vehicle's warranty to expire in 2 weeks. Vehicle still at shop waiting for diagnostics check.

2 Noises During Shifting problem of the 2003 Jaguar X-type

Failure Date: 02/13/2004

This is now the 3rd occassion of apparent transmission surges while driving at freeway speed. After pressing the accelerator while passing another car, the engine rpm shot up to 9000, while to car failed to accelerate causing a near collision. The prior 2 occurences were while driving at 40-50mph, the car suddenly downshifts with a grinding noise and a clunk from the engine compartment.
