One problem related to power train driveline has been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer replaced twice transfer case; once at 33,000 at cost of $1200, and at additional 14,000 miles later at $1200. 2 days later, after getting vehicle back, consumer was made aware that front driveline had to be replaced at a cost of $1000. Dealer stated this was not normal, and they had only seen 1 other vehicle similar to consumer's.
