Engine failed while driving down the highway. Vehicle was towed to local repair shop, per their report cylinder two had zero compression. This was inspected with boroscope, cylinder walls and piston looked undamaged. Cylinder leak down test showed that vehicle has blow by to the crank case indicating a piston or ring failure. Their recommendation was for new engine/long block. Per the report there are no engines available because of national shortage and backorder and no anticipated date of availability. Attached below our invoices for diagnostic testing as well as estimates or new engine or long block.
In December I started noticing that I would have to pump the accelerator to get the vehicle to go but was fine once it was going. On December 10th while driving and stopped at a red light the truck cut off, I quickly turned on the flasher and tried to restart the truck. This happened every time I stopped. At that time the check engine light came on. After pumping the gas again I got it started. This happened 5 times by time I got home. I contacted a friend who is a mechanic and he informed me that I needed to get it to a shop. I did not drive it for 3 days, but upon driving it to put gas in it, I noticed that again I had to pump the gas pedal to get it going. When I reached a stop sign it cut off again. I called road side assistance through my insurance company and they were able to get it started. After pumping the gas again I was able to drive it to the gas station, where it would not start after that. Because of the time of night I had the truck towed to my house. Afterwards I it towed to a repair shop where I have been informed that a new engine is required . The truck only has 110,000 miles on it. I have had to replace the battery twice already. I feel it should be included in the recall as the issue stated for the recall is the problem and could have caused an accident when it shut off in the middle of the road during rush hour traffic.
My car is doing exactly what the newest recall is for the ptu. . . I lost power while driving, I couldn't put the car in park. I bought a new car the following day and it's been sitting in my driveway ever since.
Stalling while driving slow. Stalled in traffic. Had to pushed off the road. Started running after a few minutes. Stalled 2 more times while I was leaving home. Would not start again for a few days each time. Alot of sensors are flashing. Has not been looked at by any dealership. Engine shuts down while driving.
Vehicle was purchased used with an aftermarket warranty. At around 120,000 miles vehicle start stop would intermittently quit working. Vehicle has always had a gear shift hard when accelerating quickly. Currently needs an engine replacement after check engine light came on first it said the code was for auxiliary cooling system, planned to take it to get checked out the following day but while on the way there it sounded like something popped and the vehicle was running rough and when turned off didnt want to start back up. Was informed that an engine replacement was required. That would be $14000 to fix unless my warranty covers it which I am still a month later waiting for the engine to be torn down so waranty can see point of failure. It seems like 2019 Jeep Cherokees are becoming known for engine issues which is far from being fair to the typical consumer. Something needs to be done to help us out.
Engine off, lost power steering and brakes. Gave me an error on the dash something about not being able to shift. Have 2 kids.
I was driving in city traffic and when I tried to accelerate, the Jeep would not increase in speed. It caught per se and nothing happened. Then, the Jeep started downshifting very hard upon slowing. When we went to the dealer and spoke with the technician, he immediately said that the computer needed updating. He said he's been seeing this a lot in these models. Sure enough, $300 dollars later and an upgraded computer, it is driving fine. I want to add that the dealer and service department was great, I just think this problem is somehow on Jeep's end.
Engine failed in traffic and would not start resulting in pushing vehicle by hand out of highway. Towed to dealership and was told needed new engine $17000.

My engine just went out without warning. Haven’t had it for a full year and it went out. I was driving to work and my car wouldn’t go above 50 and it started to jerk so I had to pull over and it was smoking from the hood. I had oil in my vehicle so I don’t understand how this happened on a new vehicle I just purchased.
At 48,000 to 49,000 my vehicle started experiencing ptu issues and auto start/stop feature issues. My ptu unit started grinding and making loud noises while driving. I contacted my local Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealership and they said my ptu and the sensor for the ptu was going out and needed to be replaced. I couldn’t drive my car for over 2 weeks because it was in the shop. It costs me over $5000 to get it replaced. My warranty couldn’t cover it and it says I don’t have any recalls. But other similar vehicles have the same issue and give a recall. After more research on the ptu issue, I noticed that 2013-2017 had the same recalls. Now my 2019 is being included with the fca # 01c and the NHTSA campaign # 25v011000. I believe my vehicle should be part of this safety issue and I should be reimbursed for this common safety issue.
Manufacturers spark plug broke off into engine and destroyed my engine. Vehicle only had 76,000 miles on it. When I ordered a new engine from Jeep there was a wait of 10 weeks with about 20+ people in front of me. I sent the spark plug to Jeep and they will not return it. I do have pictures on my phone. There’s still 20+ people waiting on an engine. This seems to be a massive problem with the vehicle costing people thousands. It should be investigated at the very least.
I have complained about my 2019 Jeep latitude + from the first oil change I have to add 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes. Jeep dies out in the middle of the road. And will not shift our start had to call dealership while almost being hit by several vehicles to find out I had to put the key fob by the start button and had the battery changed. Already complained customer service. I cant get nothing done with this Jeep. It is a death. Hazard please do something about this before someone is killed or injured. I have owned 3 Jeeps and loved them all. But this one is a lemon. Please help.
Cylindar number 4 was damaged by spark plug breaking. Causing loss of power and loss of use of vehcile. Book says to replace at 100000 miles it was at 81000 loss of power going through mountain passes a short distance in front of other vechiles they were able to go around. Yes confirmed by two auto techs both say its a known issue with this vechile third party warrenty company confirmed issues denied claim as they cover the engine but not the part that broke the engine lights came on as it happened.

The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who observed a misfire in cylinder two, and 90% compression in all other cylinders, resulting in damages to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, who confirmed the diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
While coming to a stop the vehicle just died while in traffic. Managed to get to an auto zone and the code was p018c fuel pressure sensor b circuit low. The stop/start feauture also just randomly stops working. Jeep has no answer to this. The vehicle dying while in traffic could be deadly.
Engine started running rough, mil light came on and flashing after 10 minutes of highway driving. Found code p0300 for random misfire, monitors cylinder misfire with scan tool and found cylinders 1 and 2 misfiring. Tested coils, checked spark plugs and tested fuel injectors, no issues found. Performed compression test and found cylinders 1 and 2 with 8-15psi. 3rd and 4th cylinders at 160 psi. Engine teardown needed, used engine prices are high hinting this is happening often. Vehicle had 73,389 miles and been maintained well.

During regular driving, the "4wd system unavailable/service required" alert came on the driver screen and a "svc 4wd" alert appeared on the bottom, right of the screen. It would appear intermittently at first but now it is there constantly when I start the car. It will also flash again every time I switch driving modes.
Vehicle turned off on highway while in drive. Would not start again after this happened and was only five years old. This created a significant safety risk of the veg I leg stopping on the highway. Due to this insurance would not cover, and vehicle was returned to bank. Was assessed at a dealership stating potentially could be repaired costing more than the value of vehicle. We became aware of a pending recall of the following issue that describes what occurred. “the power transfer unit (ptu) may become damaged and disengage the transmission and differential, resulting in a loss of drive power and/or loss of park function. ”.
1. Component/system failed: ptu 2. My vehicle completely shut off and became disabled while driving - this put my safety and the safety of others at risk. 3. The problem was confirmed at the dealership. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by certified mechanics at the dealership. 5. There were no prior warning lights or signs/symptoms of the problem before failure.
Pcm fails intermittently. Dealership is replacing it and has the defective one. Safety is definitely an issue because the vehicle stalls without adequate time to pull off of the road. Unable to move it off the road because it does not engage the transmission. Dealer has been able to replicate and confirmed the problem. Component has not been inspected by anyone other than the mechanic at the dealership. Several warning lights go off just as the problem occurs but not in time to get out of unsafe situations. Recall #18v524000 on 8/8/2018 covers the problem I am experiencing but my vehicle is not in the VIN series covered by the recall. I strongly believe the series my car belongs to should be included. This is a safety issue.
The car turned off and the battery light came on. The engine then was out of oil and all the engine oil burned up prior to the oil change light coming on or signaling that the car was out of oil.
While driving the car at 40 mph it just quit running! engine completely out causing driver to swerve. Vehicle behind had to swerve around to avoid collision. There was no accident and nobody was injured but a close call! two different shops (one being the certified Jeep/Chrysler mechanic) confirmed total engine faulure! the first shop told me that the turbo fatally failed and sent metal shrapnel through the air intake ports and scored and scratched the inside of the cylinder walls. Then oil passed through the motor and through the entire exhaust system ruining the catalytic converter and all sensors in the motor and exhaust system. There were no warning lamps or warnings of any kind. The car is less than 5 years old and has approx 76,000 miles. Cost to repair: $17,260.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that there was oil leaking from the vehicle. The contact stated that the 4-wd warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that oil was leaking from the oil pan. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called drivers village (5885 cir dr e, cicero, NY 13039) and maguire Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram of syracuse (959 hiawatha blvd w, syracuse, NY 13204). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
Engine broke on 2019 Jeep Cherokee limited with only 90,000 miles after the intake broke at 50,000.
08/31/2023 my car was overheating and making a gurgling sound. I took it to a shop 9/1/2023, got it inspected and it was the heater hose. It got fixed. Now 8 months later this month 5/20/2024 my Jeep is having same issues with the car overheating. This is really risky for me especially when I take my daughter and nieces to school. I use my car to get to work. It is currently getting inspected again. I'm concern if this is a problem with the coolant system in all? I got this Jeep used at a dealership 10/2022. I have been googling what can I do, if there is a possibility that it has a recall? I came across this website. If someone can help me please. Thank you!.
The engine shut down on the highway going 70 mph. There were no warning signs or lights. The dealership confirmed that it was a defect in the engine. The car only has 59000 miles. On it and 6 weeks out of warranty. We put a claim into Chrysler and they approved, it's been 3 months since this happened. I am currently still waiting to get my car back. As of this week, the dealership is currently replacing the engine.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at approximately 75 mph, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an oil leak into the engine causing two cylinders to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,400.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? engine, yes. Has not been repaired yet while driving on the freeway between phoenix and flagstaff at around 75mph (speed limit). The engine completely failed causing me to have to pull over to the side of the road on a hill, luckly there was enough of a shoulder on the road to pull off safely and await a tow. Car would not start after the engine failed. Upon towing the car to a dealership I was informed that they found metal through the engine and it will require the engine to be replaced. Engine type 2. 0l turbo milage: ~46k.
On multiple separate occasions, the engine and transmission have failed catastrophically leaving the vehicle without power and unable to perform emergency maneuvers. After only months of owning the vehicle, the engine block cracked and was misdiagnosed by dealer 2 times. I was forced to drive the faulty and dangerous vehicle 1. 5hrs back to the dealer on a busy interstate and vehicle was improperly repaired with very little actual diagnosis. Aul warranty covered engine replacement and I was unable to drive the vehicle for up to 4 months as a result. I finally got my vehicle back and drove it for approximately 4 months, and now the ptu has failed totally, causing me to lose control while cornering due to loss of power to the wheels, transmission began to grind badly and the vehicle rolled freely for a long distance before stopping via brake pedal. I was then stranded on a very remote gravel road for hours in the middle of the night waiting for assistance and unable to call for help or drive the vehicle. Dealer states ptu failed and entire transmission and transfer case will be replaced under aul warranty. No warning lamps were illuminated before, during, or after the malfunction despite the obviously failed ptu. Many other Jeep Cherokee kl 2019 owners have reported similar failures at as low as 60k miles. The cost of repair has nearly surpassed the price I paid for the vehicle. I have lost 2000+ paying car payments on a vehicle that is unsafe and unreliable. No recalls or service bulletins related to either issue have been made available. This model and year of vehicle is extremely dangerous and an overpriced ripoff as well.
The engine is stalling while driving and the battery warning will flash across the screen. The battery is not the issue. It was purchased in the last year and has plenty of life left.
