41 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2022

The power steering in my vehicle went out while driving down a major road (speed limit 55 mph) with curves in the road. There were no warning lamps or symptoms of concern prior to the power steering going out causing the vehicle to lock up and the inability to turn or steer the vehicle. Then a “service power steering” light turned on. The vehicle is currently at Dodge Jeep ram of troy, al waiting to be fixed. I was notified today, that the vehicle will need the power steering rack replaced.

43 Steering problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2022

On Saturday 3/5/22 around 2:30 pm I was driving and the engine shut off on midlle of street. No warning or any previus signs. On Sunday 3/6/22 I got a low oil presure warning ligth. The safety of my family and any person around us was at risk becouse my vehicle was in movement, it could have couse an accident luckily I was driving in a street at low speed if it had happened at high speed it could be really bad. There was not an accident for police to report and today is Sunday so the Jeep corporation does not work on sundays, so no one have inspected the problem. Like I stated on the day after the engine shut off I got a low oil pressure warning light on the dashboard. I have read some information on internet of issues were the tiger Jeep engine shuts of and couses serius accidents and I am concern for my familly safety while using the Jeep. Last time I had this issue the Jeep company was supposed to fix the issue of engines shutting down with the recall. Please help solve this problem before someone get into a serius accident.

44 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2021

2019 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk started making a "cluncking” noise in the front suspension/steering at 12k miles. Reported the issue to the dealer @15k service (July 2020). Dealer stated there was no issue. Reported the noise again at 22k miles (March 2021)-dealer stated that engine oil leak was getting into an electrical plug for the front power transfer/traction control modules and activating features that caused the noise, which dealer “addressed” by stopping the leak. The “cluncking” noise continued getting louder. At about 28k miles, I drove through a puddle of water and the vehicle lost steering control--it pulled hard to the right and needed strong persistent correction to avoid going off-road. I got a wheel alignment and rotated the tires just-in-case. "clunk" noise continued and every time car hits a puddle/wet pavement with both tires, it pulls to the right, risking loosing total control if I don’t anticipate the pull. Took it to the dealer again @ 32k miles. Informed dealer that the same “clunck” had gotten louder, the vehicle was loosing steering control every time I hit water on the road. Dealer diagnosed a noisy and defective rack and pinion, even though the previous two complaints for the same noise were ignored. I took the car to another dealer and did not inform them of the diagnosis. This dealer also diagnosed a bad rack and pinion system and tie ends and broken engine mounts. I called Jeep customer service, who promised to call me back within 24 hours but never did. The car is now out of warranty for an issue I reported twice under warranty. There is a recall (v99) for defective rack and pinion units on this model but this VIN apparently is not covered, although it clearly has an issue.

45 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2021

The power transfer unit is malfunctioning and steering wheel sometimes out of control.

46 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2021

We have had numerous incidents with our vehicle starting at about 20,000 miles and still happening at 39,000 miles. While driving all of the lights come on, on the dashboard while at the same time the car loses power - losing brakes and power steering. Most recently, the car locked itself after closing the door, the radio has completely turned off to a black screen, eventually restarts itself. While stopped at a red light, it felt like I got rear ended, a bang sound and the car jerked forward. We have only had Jeep dealerships work on the car. The pcm has been replaced, as well as the alternator. They did find a small wire that was rubbing and repaired that as well, however, the problem still persists. This is a major safety issue, I feel this car should not be on the road, we are lucky that no one has been hurt at this point. The last time this happened my husband was making a left turn at an intersection and was very close to being in a serious accident. It is currently in the dealership (for the 5th time).

47 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2021

My husband and my son were driving my Jeep on the highway going 70 mph when with no warning there was absolutely no power steering and almost went off the road over an embankment. Luckily it was my husband driving because I would not have been able to control the car. When researching this year of Jeep, there is a recall for this issue on only a certain number of vehicles, but of course when I put my VIN in my vehicle is not on the recall list and I also see several complaints of the same issue with the steering and not being on the recall list. This is a huge safety issue and needs to be address immediately.

48 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2021

This particular year and model of Jeep has 2 recalls not registered to my VIN number related to my accident. Airbags- impact and acceleration sensors. Steering- steering rack gear. Tonight while driving my Jeep to my local walmart, my steering completely quit and locked up on me causing me to go off the road, hit a speed limit sign, almost roll my vehicle, and cause possible irreparable damage that may total my vehicle all together. The impact was hard enough to cave in my whole front passenger side fender, rip my mirror completely off, dent both passenger doors deeply, bend my door frames, and almost completely tore off my rear fender. During this, my air bags did not deploy, and I know the accident was bad enough that they should have. This could have been life threatening, and could have ended entirely worse than what it did. My power steering pump seems to be working fine, but my Jeep itself is still registering it as a power steering issue, which makes me believe that there are significant electrical issues with the Jeep itself.

49 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2021

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle loss motive power, shuddered, and jerked making it difficult to steer the vehicle. The vehicle to swerved into an intersection and into the grass. The contact manually steered the vehicle back into the lane and pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road. The contact inspected the vehicle but could not find a cause for the failure. The contact continued driving to the residence with only manual steering available. There was a power steering warning light illuminated on the vehicle after the failure occurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

50 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2021

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the electric power steering failed and the steering wheel ceased. The power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle in manual steering mode to his residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 65,000.

51 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2021

Oil change and recall completed 3,000 miles ago for oil consumption issue. Drove 3,000 miles and stalled on roadway immediately following a right hand turn. During shutdown there was steering control loss. Pulled car off road and checked dipstick. Dipstick was dry. Added 2. 5 quarts oil. This car still consumes approximately . 75 quarts of oil per 1,000 miles. Will restart oil consumption test with Jeep dealer immediately.

52 Steering problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

Around 2:30 am on December 30, 2020 I was driving home on the freeway. It was raining a little bit but nothing to what I have driven in before. I set my car to cruise at 65 mph when all of a sudden my steering wheel started locking up. I found that my steering wheel would not turn the way I wanted it to and was veering left. I had to use some force to keep it straight and not get into other lanes. I thought I was okay until a light lit up on my dashboard. I believe it was the engine light because as I heard it go off and flash at me, my car started to stall up and then go repeatedly. As if it was hard for it to grasp on to moving forward. Last night was the scariest night of my life and I hand never had that happen to me. Almost pulled over because I thought I was going to crash. I kept it at a stable 60 mph and off cruise control as soon as the steering went haywire and it seemed to have helped a bit. I feel the need to get my car checked but I also believe that all other 2019's should get recalled for this issue.

53 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/17/2020

The vehicle will stall for no apparent reason. The most recent occurrence happened in the turn lane at a busy intersection, on a hill, in the rain. The car only restarted after several attempts. The vehicle will also lose steering for no reason while driving. The battery light will come on with the issues described above. Also, the car will chime while driving, with no trouble indication on the dashboard.

54 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2020

This happened months ago and they cleaned some connections to fix it but its happening again. At full speed the car completely loses all electronics including power steering, braking, and the dash goes blank. Then it flashes a service transmission warning while every alarm and light on the dash comes on. After coming to a complete stop and putting it in park it will restart again. This has happened 3 times over 2 days.

55 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2020

When traveling at highway speeds, the steering wheel has a notch, or hard spot in it to go straight. It either wants to go right or left, and when you try to correct it, it's hard to move the wheel then with more pressure you can get past that point then it gets super easy and jerks. What happens is when you're trying to go straight, you just bounce back and forth in the lane. It's extremely annoying but even more dangerous. Even with both hands on the wheel you just bouncing from right to left to right to left the whole time. Jeep always says there's nothing wrong and that's normal, but it's not.

56 Steering problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

The vehicle will jerk quickly to the right without notice, when on the highway.

57 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2020

On several occasions while driving at various speeds the vehicle has stalled out or died. Either while driving at low speeds or turning left/right the same thing happens. Without notice, light indicators for battery, automatic start, and now engine pops on while the steering locks up as the Jeep stalls. I've taken it to the dealership twice only for them to say there aren't any active recalls for my Jeep and that they don't know what is the cause for the vehicle to stall while driving. I service my vehicle regularly and keep up with the maintenance. I purchased this vehicle in August of 2018 on only have 34,588 miles. This makes no sense and I fear that my and the passengers in my Jeep lives are at risk from the malfunctions of this Jeep engine system. The manufacture has been no help for the numerous customer complaints that are having the same problems. I just wish they could actually fix it so I can have some piece of mind!.

58 Steering problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2020

On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at approximately 1130 hours, my recently purchased 2019 Jeep Cherokee latitude plus 4x4 with 30,000 miles locked up at a speed approximately 30 plus mph, while entering an interstate on ramp. A tractor trailer traveling at approximately 50 miles an hour narrowly avoided me in a near head on / t-bone accident. My vehicles engine revved prior to my transmission making tremendous noise and suddenly my vehicle felt as if I had just hit a solid concrete wall. My vehicle lost all steering and I had zero control over where the vehicle was traveling. My dash lit up with every light and my parking brake was also engaged. If this had happened a second later, I wouldn't be alive! if this had happened on the interstate at 70 mph I can't imagine what damage this vehicle would have cause physically to me or any passenger. Let alone who this vehicle would have hurt. All these engines and transmissions should be recalled, they will kill someone. The transmission will damage the engine and vice versa, so recalling one after it damaged the other, is like putting a band aid on a turd! northbound interstate 77 on ramp at the pocatalico entrance (I have owned this vehicle approximately 3 weeks and this is my first vehicle purchase). Again, I would ask the NHTSA to recall all the engines and transmissions for this vehicle, these are lemon's which will kill, if they haven't already. I have seen the Jeep lawsuit for the 2014, 2015s. Please stop them from selling these powertrains for the 2019s! or at least make Jeep recall them. This is fraud. If it's not, I don't know what is. So I'm stuck with a vehicle that can kill me, you guys are the only ones that can stop this. Thanks 🙏.

59 Steering problem

Failure Date: 08/28/2020

While make a right turn from a city street into my residential area the vehicle turned off in mid turn.

60 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2020

2019 Jeep Cherokee completely stalled while decelerating on the interstate. Lost all power, steering, and brakes. Was able to restart the vehicle as soon as I put it in park. Called 3 different Jeep dealers who told me they can't diagnose it unless the check engine light is in and that I should call back if it does it again. The 4 cylinder model has a recall for a software glitch for the exact same issue, but mine is a v6. I hope I live through replicating the experience so I can call the dealer to be told they can't/won't figure out what's wrong.

61 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2020

When excelling on the highway there is a vibration felt in the steering, suspension and or drive-line starting at 60 mph. The vibration increases with severity to the point of where it feels unsafe to increase above 75 to 80 mph. Generally below 60 mph or costing at 60-70 mph down grade the vibration seem to be regular road sensation.

62 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/11/2020

The power steering just randomly went out on a new pre certified vehicle from car max with 51k miles. Makes it impossible to turn.

63 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

On June 15, 2020, I turned left onto a city street and my vehicle began making the warning sound, the same sound when the seatbelt isn't buckled. A few seconds later when I turned right into another city street, the battery level warning came on, then the entire dash lit up and the vehicle quit. After a few attempts to restart, the engine came back on. The next day after I made a left turn, the same thing occurred, the battery level flashed on the dash, then the entire dash lit up and the engine shut down. I wasn't able to steer the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. It took 5 attempts before the engine would restart. On the June 18th soon after I pulled out of my driveway onto a city street, the same event occurred, the dash lit up and the engine stopped, however this time I wasn't making a turn, but I had slowed down because another vehicle coming in the opposite direction had veered close to my side of the road. It took several attempts to restart the engine, and it soon cut off again before I got it back in the driveway. When this occurred, there is no way to guide the vehicle to the side. I was very fortunate that I wasn't hit. Now I am too scared to drive my vehicle.

64 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2020

The steering wheel jerks from left to right when driving. This is a huge safety concern as it could cause loss of control. It happens continuously when traveling above 55mph, going straight, and turning. I have had a dealership look at this and they claim there is no issue and that it is the electronic steering control kicking in. They also had other complaints from multiple 2019 Jeep Cherokee owners and they spoke to Chrysler about it and were told that there was nothing they could do.

65 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2020

When traveling down the highway at speeds above 35 mph, the steering feels like it is abnormally difficult to keep centered in the lane. Then the vehicle starts to drift either left or right and when I try to correct it back to center lane it has some resistance and then it jerks causing it to over correct. This give the feeling of control loss for a moment, and after its back to center it goes the other way doing the same thing. When it is doing it, other people on the road notice it too and won't pass on the left in fear of the vehicle swerving to hit them.

66 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2020

Jeep has been taken to the dealership 3 times for this problem. First time they couldn't diagnose it, after submitting a problem on here dealer finally took the time to look into it. After taking it back again they ended up keeping the car for 1 week and they replaced the power steering system. 2,000 miles later another steering problem is accurring. Steering is very squirrelly at highway speeds just like before. Car constantly is pulling to either side. Dealer diagnosed it saying it's the castor from the alignment but the dealer cannot fix it and now has left me sitting in the water again.

67 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2020

While driving my Jeep its completely stalled out loosing power steering and electrical , had to manually get it to the side of the road. A previous recall ua9 has been issued for this problem but my VIN doesn't match even though it did the same thing.

68 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2020

Driving at highway speeds, really anything about 50mph up to about 80mph, I feel the wheel stick when I try to correct the wheel to stay going straight. Even when going around curves on the highways I can feel the stick and it's frightening sometimes. Trying to explain it at the dealership to help them understand he hard and having them feel it might be harder without highway around here to get it up to those speeds for a period of time. This has happened by the way multiple times over the last 10000 miles.

69 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/27/2020

I bought this Jeep with 8 miles on it. At about 5,500 miles while driving straight the steering seems to almost have a dead spot where it feels like there is loss of control to the vehicle. This happens repeatedly causing possible over correct trying to determine if you have control of the vehicle or not. Dealer has been called and awaiting to hear back. My first ever Jeep purchase.

70 Steering problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2020

Ever since I purchase the vehicle it will pull to the left or right. When trying to correct the position of the steering wheel I feel resistance until it gives and jerks in the opposite direction. Feels like something is getting stuck and then comes loose. This only happens when the vehicle is in motion and is very noticeable when going around 35-55mph. When at a higher rate of speed it is as though the momentum of the vehicle is helping it stay straight but it will still do it.
