Headlights are too dim, even when using high beams. This was a terrible design flaw that has been changed in recent Jeep models, but nothing has been offered to convert previous owner's cars. Jeep needs to be held accountable for this as it's a definite safety hazard when driving at night.

Car stalled several times while moving when engine is cold this happened several times while turning and again when not turning, on city streets. 4 headlights blew within 7 days while both moving and while stationary. Hard shift between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th gears while moving on highway and city streets.
Headlights very dim. Can't see pedestrians and street signs in the dark. Extremely difficult to see when it is raining at night.
Headlights are so dim I'm afraid to drive the car at night. Can't see pedestrians or street signs at night. Very dangerous when it's rainimg.
I purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude September 2018 with 64,000 miles on it. When driving vehicle on the street, the vehicle will jerk really hard like it is changing gears. If I am putting vehicle in reverse and leaving out of my drive way, the vehicle jerks. Whenever I am driving at a low speed (0-45mph) the vehicle jerks. When coming to a complete stop, like a stop sign, red light, or heavy traffic, vehicle jerks once I accelerate. I took my vehicle to dealer to be serviced on November 3, 2018 regarding this issue and I was told they found no problems but there was an update (rrt) completed on vehicle. I took my vehicle back to dealership on Saturday, November 17, 2018 for electrical component services and complained about the same issue and was told vehicle is not showing any problems but my thermostat needed replacing due to thermostat rationality code. I scheduled an appointment for a future date to the service. Also had low beam headlight fixed was told the bulb didn't need replacing that somehow it came unscrewed. Headlight was working before I left, later on that day headlight went out again. I live in houston where the temps re now in the 50s highs 60s and I had my heater on, all of a sudden I started to smell smoke like oil smoke. But I don't have any lights coming on on my dashboard. Can you please tell why is my automatic vehicle driving like it's manual and with it only having 1 previous owner that all of these things are happening???.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving various speeds, the headlights failed to project enough light to see the road properly. The contact also mentioned that the headlight covers had a smokey film. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.
In 2017, both headlights on my 2014 grand Cherokee overland went out. When I took the car to dealership, they said they had never had the headlights burn out on a Jeep that age. They said it would be over $700 to replace the bulbs. I was not able to afford this at the time. Two days later, my Jeep stalled in traffic and the alternator started burning while driving to work; my car had to be towed to the closest auto mechanic where the alternator was replaced. I also had the headlamp bulbs replaced. I was reimbursed by Chrysler for the cost of the alternator following the recall, however, my headlights have once again stopped working. I would appreciate if this can be investigated to see if the headlamp malfunction is related to any of the other recalls.
2015 Jeep Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to concerns that the exterior lights darken 70% of windshield visibility. The consumer stated the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vehicle operated as designed.
Headlights fail to properly illuminate almost to the point that they seem dim even on highbeam, unable to see no further than 30' in front of vehicle, very dangerous when passing other traffic, headlights almost seem to go out when passing other vehicles, very poor visibility in rain.
Headlights are inadequate, very bad lighting for night driving, not incidents but reluctant to drive at night.

The headlights are extremely in adequate for night driving. Turning corners are blind spots and concern with hitting something unseen. Gives the impression of over driving yor lights giving concern with not being able to stop in time if something shud appear in headlights. Seems to be a "line" of illumination that does not illuminate above. This is all the time.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the low beam and high beam headlights failed to illuminate properly with low visibility. The dealer was contacted (percy's auto sales inc, 40 houlton rd, presque isle, me 04769, (207) 764-4493), but the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
The headlights are to dim to drive the vehicle at night. I have read several post of tthe same issue with this vehicle. Dim headlights not able to see on coming lanes.
The headlights are less than adequate. When oncoming traffic I can't see at all. It almost seems like my headlights aren't even on when I know they are. They are fine when your the only one on the road. However when it is raining or snowing it's so dangerous. I can't see a thing. And as a result I almost hit someone who was walking. I have told my dealership in one of their surveys that this issue needs to be resolved or someone will get hurt. I've told them it needs to be recalled. It's the only thing I hate about it.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at various times, the projection headlights failed to project far enough to see ahead without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the technician was unable to provide a remedy for the failure. The contact stated that there was a manufacturer default in the design. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
The headlights on this car are extremely dim and make driving at night, in the rain or snow very hazardous. I took the car to my dealership and they agree they are dim but said that they are in working order. They get this complaint frequently. So no fix or upgrade available. No my eyes are not the problem. Chrysler made standard very bright lights on all of the 2017 models. Not a coincidence. This is a dangerous situation. I drive on dark back roads in the hills frequently. It isn't just a nuisance but a truly dangerous situation. Chrysler needs to address this immediately.
Drove my new Jeep for the first time at night in the country. The headlights are dangerously inadequate. The shoulder is not properly illuminated, creating a hazard when objects are on the side of the road, as well as when making a turn onto unlighted intersection. When going down a slight grade, the lights do not give enough distance to react in an emergency. Dealer has checked alignment of lights and determined they are to factory specs. Have a case numbers started with Chrysler customer support, but getting very slow response. Pictures of my Nissan frontier with oem lights after 72k miles vs Jeep with 500 miles.
The headlamp and headlight went out. I took it to a dealer, and they concluded there was a problem with the module and it would cost over $1000 to repair. I opted to just change the headlight which cost about $130 just for the bulb. A few months later the other headlight went out. Again I paid about $130 just for another bulb. A month later the other headlight went out again. It will cost about $130 just for the bulb. I have been told with the most recent call that the bulbs might continue to break as a side effect of the module problem. That is not known to be a fact. Either way, I'm looking at either $500+ just to have working bulbs at this point, or over $1500 to replace the entire module. Nobody should have to spend that kind of money simply to have working headlights so that they can legally drive the car that they purchased! this is one of the most basic elements of a car, and I feel like I am being taken advantage of by having continuous defective bulbs that cost $130. Nothing out of the ordinary has every occurred with this car that might have caused the lights to have continuous problems. However, it is worth noting that the 2014 Jeep Cherokee seems to have the highest number of problems in the Jeep line. I'm very unhappy about this and hope that there will be a satisfying resolution.
The first time I drove my 2016 Jeep Cherokee at night I could not see as well as with my other cars ,I thought something was wrong wiyh my headlights so I started looking on line and found lots of other people with the same problem. I talked to the service dept. And they told me there isnt any recalls on this problem. I think Jeep should do something about this before somthing serious happens.
Headlights are much dimmer than any car I have ever driven to the point of being unsafe on unlighted roads and lower visibility situations. How is it possible that headlamp performance is dimmer than headlamps of the old sealed beam design. ????????.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving during night time, when making a left or right turn, the headlights independently turned off. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer mall of georgia Chrysler Dodge Jeep (4345 buford dr, buford, GA 30518, (770)945-0839) where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. The service transmission warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and the valve body and parking brake needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred two additional times. On another occasion, the headlights became inoperable and the "head lamp out" warning message illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the body control module and head lamps needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While driving 15 mph, the automatic power locks failed to operate without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repair; however, the specifics of the repair were unknown. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.
Just purchased a loaded Jeep Cherokee trailhawk and noticed immediately during first night drive that headlights are hugely underpowered. The road is dark and I'd say they have less than have the brightness of my last car. I almost got in an accident the first night as I could not see where the center of the lane was when making a left turn. I subsequently got online and read a ton of complaints over new Cherokee (2014-2016) headlights. This is so dangerous and unacceptable and yes, the headlights are working and I am operating them correctly.
Poor headlights; they put out very low light to see road at night. Extremely hard to see when turning at night due to they are projector headlights . Headlights can not be adjusted per dealer. Issue is on- going.
When driving at night with halogen headlights on low beam, the headlights are dim with insufficient forward range/illumination and yelow-ish color spectrum. Sometimes it is difficult to determine if the headlights are functioning because they are so dim. This situation is a safety risk for the driver and others.
Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle high and low being headlight failed to illuminated the road in order for the contact to view the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician adjusted the lights. However the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,800. The VIN was not available. Aw.
Headlights are dangerous and very dim by design. Almost drove off the road so dim. Can't see pedestrians or street signs. Afraid of hitting some one crossing the street or getting into an accident. The dealership service said lights are working and adjusted as designed. Have read thousands of similar complaints in various online forums. Please recall before people lose their lives. If it hasn't happened already. Dim lights when driving in the city ,highway, good weather, bad weather. Totally inadequate and deadly dangerous under all conditions and circumstances.
Headlights are dangerously inadequate. Headlights are very dim the beam pattern is very narrow. While driving in the city pedestrians are barely visible in front and to the sides not lit up very dim. Many accidents barely avoided. When driving road is barely visible not lit enough, very dark. Almost drove off road due to poor visibility, very dark. People will lose their lives because of poor headlights. High beams are not any better. Many complaints online. Company Jeep Chrysler now offer optional hid lighting standard in new vehicles. But not in older version left unfixed and extremely dangerous. Obviously they know it's a problem but won't admit. Headlights must be replaced with upgrade or risk death or serious injury. Headlights are way too dim , like they aren't even on when driving. Must test drive to recognize the problem. All circumstances are dangerous, highway, city, turning, slow, fast. No nighttime visibility.
It is very difficult to see at night. The headlights are small and do not give enough lighting. We live in a rural area, street lights are only in city limits. We have missed turns and driveways due to not being able to see from the side on the vehicle. The lights are fair on bright but you can't drive on bright all the time. We hesitate too go out at night due to this problem. Side and front vision is a problem. This problem has existed since purchase of this vehicle when it was new until present.
