Jeep will stall while driving. Engine will shut off, lose power steering, cannot accelerate to try to get out of harms way, battery, oil and engine light will come on and receive a message saying to "shift to park or neutral to start the vehicle". If you want a couple minutes the Jeep struggle to turnover but eventually will. This is extremely dangerous and this vehicle needs to be recalled immediately!!!! this is a major safety issue!!! it has happened to me 6 times in the past 3 weeks. It happens while driving and occurs without warning on any street or highway, turning or braking.

I was at an intersection stopped yesterday and my 2017 Jeep Cherokee limited lost all power steering, and brakes. Dashboard flashed car must be in neutral or park to shift gears and wouldn't go forward, started rolling backwards until I pulled the emergency brake. Turned off the car to try to reset it and took a long time to turn over. Went out with it again this morning and same thing but going about 20mph. This is completely unsafe as I have no control over the car!!!!.
February 18, 2020, while driving I-95 n, doing the speed limit of 70 mph our vehicle lost power steering. a warning light came on, it beeped, and signaled "service power steering". Immediately our vehicle violently jolted. my husband was able to muscle the car to the side to the road. We shut the car off, turned it back on and regained power steering. Talk about a scary experience, we would lose and regain power steering in the middle of curves, abruptly jolting and shaking the steering wheel almost causing accidents. We made it to the dealer and left it for diagnostic. February 22,2020, we left the dealership having our issue "repaired. $3700 dollars later, we found out that our gearbox rack and pinion had gone bad causing loss of power steering and needed to be replaced. Note, the Cherokee barely has 37k miles on it! in fear of loosing power steering again we serviced the vehicle. this was 100% out of pocket expense as Chrysler fiat as well as the Jeep dealership declined any responsibility. February 26,2020, just 4 days after having the vehicle "fixed" we lost power steering. it was our worst nightmare all of again. We called Jeep, and with lack of concern, they advised us to take it back to service as it could now be a defective part installed in the vehicle. February 28, 2020, is our second service appointment with Jeep, however we are afraid this is a deeper issue than meets the eye. We no longer feel safe and fear for catastrophic injury for us and others. we fear for others that might potentially have this problem with their Cherokees. For anyone that is reading this, have your car looked at, you might not be as lucky as we were. God forbid we were on a switchback road and lost power steering in the middle of a sharp turn. We would have gone off the side of the mountain. Jeep needs to address this issue before anyone gets seriously inured.

When driving vechicle at about 50-55mph battery light and stop/start technology light comes on on the dash. Shortly after I lose power steering. This has happened three times. Very dangerous since you can lose control of vechicle. I have been able to pull over and shut down and restart vechicle to regain control. Seems to happen randomly. Brought to dealor after two times. They flashed and updated software,so they told me. Happened again after about 7-10 days. Very dangerous. Vechicle under warranty. Jeep does not seem to know the cause or the solution. Please help before something happens to somebody. Vechicle was travelling straight,in motion. When stopped at light or sign, could not turn. Power steering was lost. Engine still on,but no turning or steering function. Happened once on highway, and twice on city streets.

This is the third time we have had an issue with my wife's Jeep. 2019 Jeep Cherokee limited. First issue was just over a thousand miles, spent almost a month in the garage. Going down the interstate at high speeds the car shuts down and you lose all power steering, the brake pedal gets hard, etc. You lose all lights in the dash, all power going up hills, have to stop completely and restart in order to go anywhere. Serious safety issue as reported to Jeep multiple times now and they have said is fixed. We have requested they swap out our vehicle with another new Jeep and they refused. This is a serious serious safety issue where the ability to safely drive the car abruptly stops while you are driving. Power steering completely shuts down as does the car transmission making it so you can go nowhere. We have been almost wiped out by a semi truck on the interstate, this is after their third attempt at fixing the vehicle and saying it is fixed. And safe. We have requested time after time for them to give us a new Jeep and they refused because they don't want to dish out the money or whatever the case is. This vehicle can lose power steering and the transmission can go into neutral at any time while driving down the road causing you to be left with a very unsafe vehicle at highway speeds and potentially unable to steer the vehicle. It is a miracle that my wife who was 40 weeks pregnant at the time was able to put all her muscle into the car and steer it away from going over a cliff the first time when it died. The second time we were on the interstate on the way to a doctor's appointment. Third time was today on the interstate again.
"takata recall" I have had my car looked at a couple times for the same issues and no luck getting it fixed. While driving on both highway and regular roads I will get a warning chime and all of a sudden my service parking brake, abs, traction control, and four wheel drive- overheated lights come on. I then lose power steering, the steering wheel becomes very stiff and the brakes stop working. It is very scary especially in the winter time, to not be able to control your vehicle. I am pregnant and have a 2 year old child and do not want this Jeep anymore unless fixed. I have done research and it seems that people with the same Jeep even different years have had the same issue. Please help! this always happens when the vehicle is in motion. I have many of the same images just all different days this has happened to me. I will attach and image below. As stated this has happened multiple times not just one day. Thank you.
Transmission failed while driving at about 60 mph on a highway. Lost power, lost power steering. Could barely steer car to the side of the road. Turned off, waited, restarted and it ran fine. Service transmission light came on for a while, then went off after about 50 miles. This happened for the second time on June 27, 2016. After the first time several months ago we took the vehicle to the dealership for a software update, this is really dangerous. Losing power and power steering while traveling down a highway at 60 mph could result in an accident if it happened in traffic. Luckily for us, traffic was light so we we able to get off the road on both times this has happened. Must be a software defect, as the engine is running fine.
Driving 80mph on highway when computer shut down, lost power steering, lost response from throttle, rpm went to 0, mph went to 0. Note on dash computer said to shift into desired gear when the car was already in drive. No check engine light came on.
Was stopped at a red light in an intersection when my instrument cluster/screen lit up with the following: cel on abs/brake lights on service parking brake on 4x4 system disabled odometer flashing upon all those messages/lights coming on we lost all power steering control to the vehicle. Speedometer was not functioning while attempting to move the vehicle out of the interaction into a nearby parking lot. Once safely parked in the parking lot we turned off the car and turned it back on again to the same messages/lights turning on. We regained power steering after we turned it off and back on but all other issues persisted. Called for a tow back to the dealership. Chrysler claimed it was a bad abs module. I am filing a safety complaint for poor electrical design if an abs module has the ability to bring down the entire computer system in the 2014 Cherokee this can pose a serious hazard to all vehicle operators.
