36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/28/2024

Upon driving at approx 20mph in traffic on the highway, there was a sudden loss of power in acceleration. Smoke was seen around the vehicle. Multiple lights flashed on the dashboard and then quickly went blank. As I was pulling to the side of the road I noticed flames coming from the front right side of the vehicle. The brakes no longer worked. I got out of the vehicle as smoke was seeping into the cabin. I was able to retrieve my phone and bag. Approx. 30 seconds after exiting the vehicle and moving away there was a small explosion. Over the course of the next few minutes there were multiple other explosions. Emergency services were called immediately. The vehicle burnt to the ground completely.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/23/2024

Date: [xxx] I went to the exxon gas station in richmond ,va to fill up for the trip back to rocky mount, n. C. When I put the handle hose into truck hole to pump the gas the gas would not go down the hose. It splashed out on the ground, on my feet and clothes. After several attempts with no resolve, I contacted my insurance for roadside assistance. Which led to the Jeep towed to n. C. I view this as a manufacture defect. I researched this issue and found that there are others consumers dealing with the same difficulty with their Jeep. They can not longer pump gas in the tank. This is a manufacture issue which should be investigated for a recall of this impairment, defected vehicles. In order to correct and repair the defected component or system malfunctions. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/20/2024

I’m not the only one with the same issues. I know a lady who has the same problem with her vehicle and has been quoted thousands of dollars to fix it. Cylinders and engine housing. . Anti freeze leak. . And then expect us to pay expensive car payments.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/06/2024

While coming to a stop the vehicle just died while in traffic. Managed to get to an auto zone and the code was p018c fuel pressure sensor b circuit low. The stop/start feauture also just randomly stops working. Jeep has no answer to this. The vehicle dying while in traffic could be deadly.

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

Fuel line plastic fitting cracked and was sprayed fuel on hot engine and exhaust system connector was where steel line from tank becomes a plastic line for engine there it no reason for this fitting to crack as their is no tension on line. This is clearly a defective piece and don’t want someone else hurt from problem.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/02/2024

When tank is filled up, my car stall or jumps and losses power when in drive and come to a stop, it tells me to put in park. But has done it while driving and just died, but it happens every time I fill up my tank, but it’s bad when I get to a red light and it jumps or when I come to crossing and just jumps in traffic or stops.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

The Jeep caught fire underneath while I was driving on the highway. There were no warning lamps or symptoms of the problem prior to failure. I saw flames come up over the front of the car and immediately parked and ran with my child. We could have died. The fire and stopped car in the middle of the highway could have caused a pile up of crashes. It is unknown what component or system failed and I don't believe it is available for inspection as state farm decided not to move forward with inspection. They declared it a total loss.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/22/2024

I received an fca recall notice, gw270231, for my 2016 Jeep Cherokee latitude related to the catalyst efficiency-u90 recall on 1/22/24. . I attempted to schedule a recall service appointment at two different local Jeep/Chrysler dealerships. The first one (aritioli Jeep) enfield, CT. Stated they were unable to obtain the correct parts and that I should keep calling their parts department to know when the parts were obtained. I scheduled the recall service with bertera Jeep/Chrysler in west springfield, MA for 2/29/24. I was informed on 2/26/24 that my appointment was canceled because they did not know when they would have the required parts. The service representative stated it would take months and advised I should call them for a status update each month. I need assistance and support to ensure the required parts are sent to the dealership so I can resolve this Jeep recall issue promptly.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/10/2024

We own and lease mostly Chrysler /Jeep products in our family. We currently have a wrangler, pacifica, Jeep Cherokee. Our 2015 Jeep Cherokee has shut down completely while driving 4 times. The first time this happened was a year ago and we thought it was a fluke. Recently it has happened 3 times so there is clearly an issue with this 2015 Jeep Cherokee and it is unsafe to drive until this matter is completely fixed or the car is replaced. We are fortunate that an accident did not occur during any of these times however the last incident came very close. Very frightening !! the vehicle is currently at rockland Jeep dealer and I am attaching the estimate we received which is over 5,000. 00. We have replaced the battery, changed the oil and have been without this vehicle for almost 2 months. We are hoping that Chrysler will pick up this expense since there were many recalls regarding this matter.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/03/2024

Unknown…the Jeep using oil terribly, with no leaks. I have it serviced every 3000 miles, and it is always low or no oil on the dipstick at that time. I just had the oil changed, and fuel injection cleaned about a month ago…less than 700 miles since. The Jeep is cutting off while driving. It won’t start back for 2-3 minutes, and I’m sitting in traffic. It’s terrifying!!! when checked with oem, it doesn’t show any codes, although an engine light is on. I’ve spoken with 3 different mechanics, that all stated this is common with this model…with no solution, no recall, and no idea what part to repair. I’ve been told throttle body, throttle body clutch, starter, etc…no one really knows where to start. And those parts are not cheap to replace as an experiment. I bought my Jeep new, with only 3 miles on it. This issue is new, within the last 2 weeks. The losing oil has continued since purchase, and it will cut off if the oil is low. This is different. As I stated before, the oil was just changed, and is not low. Please help!!!.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/31/2023

Tank is stuck at 1/4 full, some kind of issue withe the fuel tank. Can will run out of gas if miles are not monitored. The gas tank aux pump or design of the tank (hump over drive shaft) is creating an issue.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

When gas pedal is pressed starting from a stop, the Jeep doesn’t move right away, then jerks forward. Also, when driving, it sounds like the automatic gear is not shifting up, sounds like the Jeep is “reving up”. Another thing happening, is as I start moving, I hear a clunk sound, towards the rear of the Jeep, like something might fall off.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/26/2023

In late November 2023 I noticed my fuel economy dropping a lot, from 27-29mpg to 22-24mpg. And, soon tailpipes were accumulating a lot of soot in tailpipes and soot was coming out of end of muffler. I took to Jeep dealer in palestine, TX. See invoice uploaded. Service advisor couldn't find any bad codes. He wrote some guesses as to source/cause of problem & suggested using more expensive, higher grade of gasoline. He said to try some catalytic converter cleaner, also. Seems, he thinks the braking system may be causing soot troubles. This soot problem will cause injector, spark plug, catalytic converter expenses in future! and, I have to spend much more for gasoline? I think main control module is defective and is missing computer code to properly detect this problem or is intentionally designed to ignore the cause of the excessive soot problem. It is not normal to have soot in a new vehicle!!! I've worked on vehicles since 1950s until us government mandated electronics made us weekend mechanics obsolete. I've seen soot in old cars, pickups, tractors, other engines; but in a properly running newer vehicle. Maybe rings are bad in this engine. Maybe sensors need to be replaces but main control unit is designed to ignore soot producing part(s). Maybe sensors do not work properly especially in cold weather and causes a too rich gasoline mix in engine. But, dealers only obey what codes tell them. This sounds similar to the vw scandal where vw intentionally made software that could evade emissions control tests. Jeep has made soot problem disappear whereby sensors do not see soot being produced by v6 Jeep engine because main control unit software code has been written to do such: evade detection that causes no engine light error notice in drivers display and nothing in dealers inspection/diagnosis software. Heavy soot not detected by Jeep's engine sensors and main control unit? in person can see more soot, photos don't show 3d depth as it really is.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

As of this date: started about a year ago, when Jeep was over 150,000 miles. When accelerating to turn or from a stop sign or light, vehicle would stall, mimicking the feeling the vehicle ran out of gas. This occurred about once a month. Working at home and not driving my vehicle as much its hard to say if it would have occurred more often. Checked for any codes, none appeared. As I have recently started driving back in the office 3 days a week, the issue of stalling at any given time with no warning began occurring more often. Took it to trusted local service shop, they changed the purge valve pump and gas cap, as they were puzzled on the problem. Did not seem to matter if gas was full, half or under half. The issue occurred twice within 2 weeks. Service shop recommended taking to dealership. Jeep dealership are not aware of any similar issues. Which I found interesting as I researched and found massive posts from various Jeep forums as well as this one. They capped off hose to charcoal canister, hoping that would help. And told me its a process of elimination at this point. The next evening it stalled again. I have now parked my vehicle as this has become a safety hazard. Stalling anywhere at any given moment could cause a tragic accident. Will be contacting dealership to voice my concern. Hoping for a positive resolution.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/26/2023

Engine stalls after filling tank. I’m not over filling it I stop at the first click and don’t put in a drop more. My engine will still stall and most times my car will completely shut off when I come to a stop.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/25/2023

The auto stop start feature is causing the car to stall out and shut off during a complete stop. The car check engine, light and auto start lights turn on. Then the car starts shaking and vibrating. It’s very unsafe to drive vehicle!.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/26/2023

Jeep Cherokee 2018 limited ac turns off throughout the drive. It makes the SUV vibrate to the point I can’t see out the review mirror. Had ac serviced and checked. Issue persisted shortly after.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/09/2023

Fuel pump failed suddenly. Caused engine to stall losing power steering and brakes. Luckily was on flat straight stretch of residential not coming off mountain on dirt track know warning or lights. From 45 to nothing.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/23/2023

A couple of issues are occurring and this is all over the internet as well and I have decided to file a complaint as this vehicle should be recalled. Most recently the car shuts off while driving and need to coast into the breakdown lane. The transmission shifts very rough as well as this model in addition the engine seems to eat the oil as well. I purchased the vehicle brand new and have consistently gotten oil changes, but a year ago when I brought this vehicle in the dealer advised I had no oil, but I got oil changes every 4-5k miles. I should not need to be pouring oil into the car. This is well known issue all over the internet with this engine. What happens is the car will shut off randomly when driving as a fail sale. In addition most recently the will shut off and there is oil in the engine, but it starts jerking the engine as if it is trying to change gears and then the car loses the ability to accelerate and actually deaccelerate. I have to pull over and the car will not drive. I have to turn the car off and let it sit for a minute or two and then turn it back on. This is highly dangerous as someone can smash into the back of the car while I am driving since the car loses power. I have brought the car in numerous times to the shop over the years due to the transmission/engine failures. This engine/transmission needs to be recalled as these cars should not be on the road. Most recently I brought it back to the dealer and they advised they could not replicate the problem. It is back in the shop today as well 5/31/23 as the incident occurred again 3 days after. I have some video I can email as well.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/07/2023

Your website has some trouble & won't accept my jpg files. First time to see this. I use cruise control all the time on 3 vehicles I own. But, this Jeep has a strange problem that is not safe. Almost all vehicles I have driven with cruise controls will exceed set speed by 1~3mph while going down a steep hill. But my Jeep will exceed by 5~7mph on steep hills. I have turned off cruise control when it didn't control speed and drove manually for a while, then used cruise control again. If I set at 70mph, often speed will increase to 75~77mph going downhill; then brakes will engage strongly (hard braking) and Jeep will quickly go below 70 mph. Jeep will brake hard, go to or below 70mph then speed up some then brake hard again! two-three times I had 18 wheelers behind me going down steep hill when I was using cruise control, Jeep quickly reached 75~77mph, then suddenly brakes clamped down with a lot of force and big trucks had to hit their brakes hard and were not far from my rear bumper. I do watch in rear view mirror often when driving. There are a lot of hills in my area of east texas. I also watch out for smaller vehicles also when I use cruise control, especially going downhill. I took Jeep to a dealer Jan. 24, 2024 in palestine, TX 75801 to check excessive carbon soot in tailpipes, coming out of muffler. And, I told service mgr. About bad cruise control braking. They did nothing. Now, see elliott Jeep dealer service invoice 66085. Dealer wasn't interested in looking a cruise control problem. He checked only excessive soot problem and maybe did a multipoint inspection. Also, this Jeep couldn't possible pass an epa emissions control. I think there are some real defects in main control module!!!! defective speed or cruise control. Defective air/fuel sensor control making a lot of soot. Display defective for gasoline & temperature guages in display. In 2023, I told different dealer about cruise control trouble and he didn't check anything, either.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

For last yr I keep having car want stall did recall on it. Helped for bit, then it’s always wanting stick between 2/3 when trying change gears. On different recall it fixed for bit the temp on transmission bouncing back forth a lot in temps. I have recorded video to show it. Now my engine light is on for p0441 code with power train possible evap leak. It just keeps being one problem after another like it’s not wanting to get gas to it what seems like. It’s all happened over last year and engine light came on sat.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

Last July of 2022, my first issue was an electrical notice that caused the airbag and seatbelt sensor in the vehicle to continuously go off, which took several months to get fixed through the manufacturer of my Jeep Cherokee 2015. As of 2023, I have received two recall notices, and neither of which have been resolved since April of 2023. Since those notices, my check engine light has gone off and is getting repaired this week, there's been a leak inside the vehicle of a liquid spilling into the passenger side floor mat, and also the brakes have deteriorated quickly -- they were last repaired at 77,000 miles and are again experiencing issues at 99,000 miles. There is a specific manufacturer in my area (salt lake valley chrystler Dodge Jeep ram on state street in salt lake city, ut) that has been borderline negligent and straight up rude on multiple occasions.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/30/2023

Everytime I fill up, the car acts like the transmission is faulty. Tried to die when stopping, barely runs. On dash warning says to have transmission serviced. I have to drive approximately 6 miles, restart the engine, then it's fine. Happens everytime. Took it to the bossier city, la. Dealership and they wanted to sell me a transmission job. I informed them of others with same problem and the said they never heard of that problem.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/28/2023

The vehicle keeps loosing power, everything has been tested battery wise it not the battery. It’s acting like it’s not getting fuel. This started 3/28/23, between 40 and 60 vehicle shakes and is hesitant to go. Vehicle will jerk badly and clunk. While the check engine light starts flashing. When codes are check they are for power loss & failure.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/25/2023

My Jeep is stalling and it cranks but then while driving for a while it shuts down and you have to crank it back up.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/15/2023

The vehicle bucks and stalls after filling up the fuel tank to full. I don't lose accessories or anything, I lose engine power. My battery light comes on and my dash says, "battery voltage low put car into park and then desired gear". The car will start up after the excess fuel in the engine is burned off which can take a few tries. It will buck like it wants to stall out or it dies again completely while I'm driving. This is a very dangerous situation to be driving down the road to have the vehicle suddenly stall out. The vehicle will continue to stall until the fuel hits a certain level in the tank.

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/15/2023

While driving, when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle dies. Have to pull over, shift into park and attempt to restart. Sometimes restarts quickly, sometimes you have to crank and crank. Also dies if you have to stop suddenly. Example, when someone pulls out in front of you or changes lane/swerves in front of you. Problem was intermittent, in cold weather, when vehicle was cold. Now, it is likely to happen at any time. This creates a dangerous situation, trying to get off of the road when it dies. Check engine light is on, and "lightning bolt" dash light comes on when vehicle stalls. Ran diagnostic - revealed no code.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/11/2023

For the last 12-months I have been dealing with the vehicle stalling after filling it up. It first started a year ago and was sporadic but for the last 6-months it has been happening every time I fill up. This is a very dangerous situation to be driving down the road to have the vehicle suddenly stall out. The last time this happened was on Saturday, 2/11/23 and I spent the day fighting a stalling vehicle. Since 2020 the check engine light sporadically comes on. Supposedly there is a small evap leak. After looking into this earlier today I discovered this is a well known issue with all Jeep vehicles. Seeing how this seems to be a manufacturer issue the consumer should not have to keep paying out to fix what was not done right to begin with. Please look into both of these concerns.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/06/2023

Check engine light stays on. Computerized message states check electrical service throttle. When I get new gas in the car. The car stops in the middle of the highway or at the stop lights/signs and dies. Car has a very hard time starting back up. I had $1110. 00 of repairs and took the car back to the same repair shop 4 times. It has never been able to be repaired. It is very dangerous to be driving on the roads and the car suddenly dies and has a very difficult time restarting the engine. This is only the first 30 miles after it has been filled with new gas. I have a friend living in another state. She has the same model of Jeep as I do and she has the same challenge with her car.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/31/2023

Recently, after evertime I fill up with gas, my Jeep stalls out and dies. I don't lose accessories or anything, I lose engine power. My battery like comes on and my dash says "battery voltage low" "put car into park and then desired gear" it takes a few tries to get it started again and it will buck like it wants to stall out or it dies again completely while I'm driving!.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/25/2023

Similar to ntsb 11504810, when I fill up with gas, my Jeep stalls out and dies. I don't lose accessories or anything, I lose engine power. My battery like comes on and my dash says "battery voltage low" "put car into park and then desired gear" it takes a few tries to get it started again and it will buck like it wants to stall out or it dies again completely while I'm driving. Also there are times it is rough changing gears (jerky).

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/12/2023

Every time I fill the fuel tank and start driving the car dies, lurches or drops out of gear. I get a message on the instrument display that I cannot shift without a compete stop (I did not shift) it's in drive but will not move. This is dangerous as it gets me to the middle of an intersection and its dead. I know this sounds crazy but it's a repeatable problem. And apparently, I'm not the only one.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/01/2023
