The car has over 18000 miles, in March 2025 we noticed a rattle at the right front area while going over rough roads. We took the car to the (dealer cerritos Jeep) and were told that the right front strut was (broken ?) and it was under warrantee. Then was told the strut was out of production and it would be may 30 before they could get the replacement, may 30 was told that the all the parts did not arrive, we left the car there June 23, June 24 they said the design had changed and needed to get more mounting parts to install it. Today we pick the car up question: I was taught that when replacing an suspension you don't replace just one, you replace two! my research says that it is still a practice today. The dealer is replacing only the right strut, we are concerned the we have one questionable strut with 18000+ miles on and is in some way mechanically different then the new strut. The dealer stands on just replacing the one strut.

I submitted a complaint about the service shifter that I been having since 2020 right after I finance the car with dealership. The problem continued and it hasnt been resolved even after taking it back for repairing. Recently on 6/24/2025 my car stopped on the expressway, the service shifter came on and also electrical throttle service control. My car started trembling and it would turn on but I couldnt drive it. The expressway road assistance was able to push me out the expressway and in the process my car started to run but shaky still and I was able to get it back home.

While driving on [xxx] n in jacksonville, FL on [xxx]. Driving below the recommended speed limit my Jeep Cherokee sport started to rattle and shake so violently I almost lost control of the vehicle. I hit a small bump in the road, was forced off to the right side and the front drivers wheel broke off from the drum. It was a frightening experience and could have lost my life as the highway was busy with morning traffic. No know suspension issues before this happened. I understand this was a recall issue on different models of Jeep vehicles, so why wasn't the Cherokee sport not included? I am currently waiting on repair cost and confirmation from the insurance company. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

4wd is unavailable - service 4wd light on.
According to my mechanic the sway bar broke, also I get a 4wd system unavailable service required! which is ptu module needs replaced! that is a rescalled issue, do to safety issues! please look into it! thanks.
Started appearing a month ago, complete loss of power on major highways/interstates. The ptu was supposedly already replaced due to 1st recall (prior owner), but still had issues with replacement. I have 2 children and the complete loss of power terrified me. The ptu is a $3,000 repair/replacement. I was able to put it in neutral and pull over to restart the car, but this has happened a few times! this could have caused major accidents and deaths!!!.
My car has 123,000 done everything by book. Been report issues for over yr. Car almost got my killed by not stopping, turning, jerking on accelerating and decelerating when shifting. All my motor mounts, transmission mount busted , messed up suspension control arm, ball joints, struts , axle, brakes all once. Drained battery. Spent 4500. Then my service shifter just came on. So back at shop. This is insane my shifter should last life time of my car. Due to the damage of that it cause a downfall of front end issues. This is well known issues of Jeep 2016 but not mine for a recall. It has cost me thousands and should not be happening at 122,000 miles . Car is at dealership again now and I have rental so not sure what that will cost. This started 2/11 not codes just could tell already filed reports with you all. My brakes lasted years , rotors was changed 2/11 hoping it helped per papers already damaged due to all this other crap. I’m very upset my car shouldn’t be having all these issues at 122,000 we are 1 car family.
Hello my front passenger suspension bolts sheared due to over torque condition. My mechanic said he believes there was something related to this, but it is a serious safety issue. I checked the stellantis bc and NHTSA recall site and found nothing. My front drive train is bent and I can’t imagine the risk it out my wife and daughters. Could have snapped on the highway and killed them, and potentially others, in an accident.
Hello, the 2019 Jeep Cherokee that I have has a cracked rear differential and no accident that the vehicle was in could’ve caused. I also know another person personally that has the same year make, and model as me that has the exact same problem of a cracked rear differential. Also, after talking to a mechanic in our local area, who stated he sees cracked rear differentials in Jeep Cherokees a lot more than he thinks he should and is surprised there’s no recalls on it. The safety concern has led me to decide to get rid of the car since I am concerned there should be a recall on this part of the Jeep Cherokee, but there is not, and I feel other recalls could be overlooked as well. Also, after some research online, I see there are many cases of the same cracked rear differential in the Jeep Cherokee, especially in and around the year of 2019. There was no specific incident that happened to report on. I could hear a noise so we’ve had three mechanics/appraisers people look at it. All quote around $3,000 to repair. Also, all say this kind of crack is unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal popping and clicking sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 02-004-15. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 49,000.
A week ago, I went to my local garage that I trust for a completely different reason than I ended up leaving with. I have a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. I have less than 62,500 miles on this vehicle. I do not tow anything. I do not go off road. I do not ride down trails or do anything out of the ordinary. I live in the boston area. What I found when I was at the garage was an issue that the garage couldn't fix. I needed a rear differential unit replace. Jeep discontinued the Jeep Cherokee this year. What a coincidence because the differential unit isn't available. It's been on back order all year based on what I see online. I spoke to someone at a service department today. He told me it has been on back order, there are 150 ish that have been requested. There are 8 ready for deployment in July. So I will have 140+ people ahead of me for this thing that doesn't exist on a vehicle they no longer make. Today I went to a Jeep dealership and they looked at the unit and said at some point it's going to break and I'll lose control of my vehicle. They've seen this issue in the past and its not pretty and told me I should trade it in immediately. I have a vehicle with 62,500 miles that is essentially totaled . It will become inoperable in a matter of months, if not weeks. Even if they get the part, they told me it would be $3,500 for the part, plus another $1,500 for labor, plus likely the axle needs to be replaced, plus another part and it's likely $8,000 to fix it all. And it could be 6-12 months before they can fix it. I get it, it's sexy to chase the airlines. The headlines are great. Vehicles is another story. That's not a sexy storyline. But Jeep is taking someone who finally paid off this vehicle this month and is forcing me to buy a new vehicle. I don't get to use insurance on my totaled vehicle. Jeep is forcing me into trading this vehicle in by not producing parts. Vehicle was inspected today. No warning lamps. It was found by mistake.

My Jeep Cherokee(VIN 1c4pjmds6hw510974) was being flat towed behind a class a motorhome. On 4 separate occasions the front wheels of the Jeep started bucking right to left and back to opposite side causing the whole motorhome to violently vibrate. 1) the first time it happened was at about 15 mph while turning left onto a connecting road. It started vibrating so I pulled to side of street and stopped. After getting out and discovering nothing of note I started off and the wobble was gone. 2) second time was while driving at around 50 mph. There was a bump and grade change in the road and the wobble started. Much more violent than the first. I had to stop while in the traffic lane, with no place to pull over. This time I could see the wobble in the rear camera of the motorhome. Jeep was violently bucking back and forth as before but much stronger. 3) slower speed at about 20 mph it happended again. Had to come to a stop before it corrected. 4) 40 mph and a very subtle road surface change caused wobble. I disconnected Jeep and drove it by itself to home. Never had an incident other than while being towed. This has happened 4 times in the past 5 trips of around 300 miles each. Since then I have discovered articles about "Jeep death wobbles" and have not found any evidence where Jeep has even acknowledged there is an issue. Until I see user manual that mentions a "mopar wiring kit" that needs to be installed. I do not know if this is considered a recall or if is an after thought mentioned in the manual. At any rate the Jeep was sold as a flat towable vehicle and Jeep should stand behind it and install the mopar fix as a safety fix at no charge to customers who bought it as a flat tow vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, there was an abnormal scraping and crunching sound heard. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure recurred while driving on a bumpy road surface and over a pothole. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics, where the brake calipers, the brake rotors, and the brake pads were replaced. Additionally, a wheel alignment was performed; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where it was test-driven; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
While driving the front left wheel started to come off the axel. The stability control light came on prior to the incident. The vehicle was towed to a Chrysler dealership for a mechanic to inspect the vehicle. A mechanic at a Chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and the following was repairs were needed- new axle shaft, new knuckle, and new arm control. The axle broke and knuckle broke which resulted in the tire coming off of the vehicle. A claim was turned into insurance carrier and repairs have been completed to the vehicle.

1. The motor mounts, esim, struts, and transmission, it is available for inspection 2. When driving, it "kicks" when switching gears, at redlights, it will tell me to put the vehicle in park, I have to stay at the light, put it in park, then in drive. Sometimes I will have to restart the vehicle 3. Confirmed by automotive shop, information available upon request 4. Inspected by automotive shop 5. No warning lamps, just the check engine light and gas cap light when the problems started. This has been ongoing for months. Over $1000 worth of repairs that need to be completed.

2021 Jeep Cherokee purchased with 33,000 miles. Around a month to a month and a half after we thought the brakes were needing replaced, couldn't get an appointment anywhere. At inspection we are told that the brakes are fine but the lower control arm (drivers) is bad and it was nothing that I had done. I have documentation from the mechanic stating this and can be provided. We believe this should be part of the recall. What front control arm goes bad before 35,000 miles?.
There is something wrong with my front, driver side electric break. When I at the speed about 40 mph or bumping road the break is not working. And some thin it making noise l, look like it is engaged by itself. The problem started when the car only 26500 miles but the dealer denied to warranty because it a month after 3 years.
Service shifter light service shifter light came on and gear shift lights are all red; reverse, park, neutral, drive. Then a warning message flashed to service the air bag system and the 4wd needs servicing. This has happened three times. The first time it happened was at a stoplight. The second time it happened I could not leave a parking lot. The third time it happened I barley got it toy destination to park it. I have researched that this tends to be a problem with Jeeps.
Control arms - lower control arm both sides of the vehicle confirmed by the dealership service department and given an estimate of cost for repair has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance or others. No warning lights have come on. Just a crunching & clicking noise coming from under the front end of the vehicle.
I brought car in for oil change and was told the r front axle was leaking. Brought it to dealer for repair and told both that both front and rear axles needed to be replaced along with ptu. Was informed that the that was ordered was cancelled b/c 800 people across the country were looking for the same part. There were no safety warnings. I was told very unsafe to drive b/c front axle came out of ptu.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that when the vehicle accelerated, the vehicle was shaking erratically. The vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics where the vehicle was diagnosed with a failed rear differential. The contact was informed that the rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact was informed that the failure was due to a failed ptu. The vehicle was then taken to two Chevrolet dealers where the failure was diagnosed as a failed rear differential. The contact was informed that the rear differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v011000 (power train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that only parts listed in the recall were covered under the recall. The contact was informed that additional parts were not covered under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 80,941. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
This vehicle is designed to be a flat tow vehicle for a class a motorhome. No one made me aware of the death wobble and this caused an accident which could have been deadly. We did 13,000 dollars in damages to my motorhome and Jeep. After hours of research I found this to be a common problem from Jeep. I contacted the local Jeep service department and they were not aware of this. Come to find out there is a Jeep part to correct the problem, at a cost of $286. 39 and a labor charge of $460. 00 to install. If Jeep is aware of this problem, why are they not advising the public to not flat tow this Jeep until the necessary parts are installed. There is nothing in the manuals regarding this problem!.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The place vehicle in to the park position and restart message was displayed. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate. While making a turn, it was hard to steer. The key fob was inoperable. There was a abnormal rattling noise detected. While driving, the vehicle was swaying. All the warning lights were flashing. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed the wiring was loose. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while making a turn, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on two occasions to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rear knuckles needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired twice; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rear knuckles and knuckle bushings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
While breaking in heavy freeway traffic the right rear tire began to wobble heavily causing loss of control and nearly causing an accident. Took the vehicle to a dealership repair facility and they took a photograph and advised me of the “extremely hazardous” nature of their findings. A bracket support bolt was missing and the second bolt had never been connected to the bracket. Since the vehicle is under factory warranty the dealership contacted the factory representative and told me that the have denied the claim because this couldn’t have happened on its own, inferring that I or someone else modified it. This decision was made despite the picture (which the dealership provided them) clearly showing the undercoating (installed 2-3 days after my purchase 05/15/2021) on the factory installed bolt had not been disturbed. I have reviewed this situation with 3 mechanics and one manufacturing engineer and all have agreed that this is a very dangerous factory flaw/oversight. The manufacturer (representative) trying to deflect blame and not being forthcoming with the severity of this situation makes it of greater concern. I hope this condition has not been repeated on other vehicles because it’s been 5 days and I’m still rattled by it.
The vehicle began making a crunching/grinding sound, and lost some traction/control. It then only would go very slowly even though I was pressing the accelerator, and then the rpm meter was revving up and down even after I took my foot completely off the pedal. After turning it off on the side of the road for about 15 minutes, we were able to drive it home with no further issues. The following week when I went to have it inspected (the first time I drove it since), it made it less than 10 miles before it did the same thing and was unable to be moved this time. We towed it in to have it inspected at a Jeep dealership and they confirmed it is a ptu/transmission issue. I have a video of the second incident if needed.
I’ve had this vehicle for a few years now and at the time of purchase the vehicle had 16,000-18,000 miles on it. It’s a 2016 and I believe I purchased the vehicle in 2019 so I’ve had it for about three years now. I didn’t really start to pay any attention to the shaking/shimmy/wobble that the vehicle has until about a year after I purchased it because at first it wasn’t nearly as noticeable as it is today and I had just upgraded from a cheap little chevy cobalt that was a beater and the Jeep was a huge upgrade and improvement from that vehicle causing me to gloss over the problem initially. The problem seems to get worse over time and regardless of me getting new tires, getting them balanced and alignments the same shaking/wobbling/shimmying persists. No issues can be determined that would cause the problem and I am told that the shaking is normal upon reaching higher speeds or that the complaint cannot be replicated. The shaking starts anytime I begin to reach speeds around 45 mph and higher and then seem to stop once reaching speeds around 65 mph . To test further I’ve reached speeds of around 80 mph and again the shaking starts once you get around 70 mph but does not stop shaking when letting off of the accelerator as it does at speeds of 65 mph and lower but instead continues to shake while both pressing the accelerator and letting off of the accelerator becoming worse if you apply the brakes. The shake seems to come from only the front wheels and is violent enough of a shake that it can be visibly witnessed and also felt by looking at the steering wheel and holding onto the steering wheel. Issue persist and has not been resolved. Tires also show uneven and irregular wear on the tread of both front wheels. Front tires need to be replaced more frequently than the rear tires. Rear tires always seem to look almost new while the front tires look as if they weren’t changed at the same time as the rear tires. Not consistent with what would be considered normal.
Starting mid 2022, the vehicle was having trouble shifting into passing gear upon highway acceleration. It seemed to get stuck at 45 mph before shifting into a higher speed, putting me at risk. Subsequently, in September 2022, I brought vehicle in for oil change. The mechanic put the car on a lift and found that the passenger front axle boot was torn, and fluid was leaking from the axel joint. I brought the car to the dealership for repair. The transmission problem was a needed computer update. The axel boot and axel half was replaced. The troubling aspect of this is that no warning lights came on for any of these issues.
The power control unit of the full time four drive unit is defective and has caused warning lights that made the car unsafe to drive. There is current safety recall by NHTSA 20v343 that applies to 2014-2017 Jeep Cherokee that applies to my car but does not shows up on the Jeep data base. Please advise. Thank you.
-transmission sporadically slams into gear while changing gears. Feels like you got rear-ended. -issues with front drivers side metal grinding noise. . . . Had it fixed @ the dealership. . . . 6 months later it's back.
