Seat Belt problem #1

I called last 8/9/18 to brought the attention on what's going on with my vehicle. I received a respond from NHTSA dated 8/28/18. Please review your computer system from my report. There is additional problem that I just experienced recently when we have a severe storm happened last 8/10/18 the sun roof was leaking and it flooded the driver side floor. I have to clear the water and open all the doors to let it dry and applied anti mold disenfectant to protect our health. Also the computer system discontinued working. The system monitor failed. Dealer was asking $ 800. 00 to fix monitor system. Some of the issues in this vehicle was not brought to the dealer due to I have no funds to pay for the service. Not all people have a substantiate funds especially I'm out of job. I was not sure if I am the second owrner of this vehicle because we bought it use. When we bought it the mileage was 125000 miles. I'm not sure the history of this vehicle. I suggest that you might find that information through the dealer. As I recollect my past complaints was, while driving 40 miles (mph) the speed suddenly reduced and the check engine light warning sensor remained illuminated. In addition, the front driver seat would erroneously change positioned whole operating the vehicle. In addition to this both seat belt at the back passenger side was not working so passenger cannot access it while traveling. When I turned on the heater nor air-condition there was a roaring sound coming from the air-condition vent especially when it was turned on high. So over all this is my respond from the letter that you have send date 8/28/18. If you have any more question in regards to my respond from your letter please feel free to write at carolyn palomata 212 eagle creek road moyock, nc 27958 or my contact number 757-759-6729. Seat Belt problem #2

The latch on the 2nd row passenger side seat belt fell apart and is unusable. The latch on the 2nd row drivers side seat belt is malfunctioning. It does not always accept the seat belt and if it does, will not release without significant force making it also unusable. Not only do we have no seat belts in the 2nd row (except for small center seat) but this is also causing the airbag warning indicator to come on & off while driving.

Seat Belt problem #3

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that the second row driver and passenger side seat belt buckles malfunctioned and would not properly lock and/or unlock. On occasions, while driving, the buckles would erroneously unlock. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer (sherwood Jeep, 1915 n. Salisbury blvd, salisbury, MD) was notified. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Seat Belt problem #4

Seat belt alarm is malfunctioning. Even though the seat belt is buckled, the alarm constantly goes off while the car is in motion on a city street and a highway. It's a safety hazard because it's a distraction while driving. It also encourages the driver to take off their seat belt to see if they can deactive the sensor by having to rebuckle again.

Seat Belt problem #5

Going to strap the grand child in the back seat the seat belts lock up coming out before fully pulled out. This has happened several times. Even has happened to me a few times on front drivers seat. Today strapping the grand child in it lock while she was seat belted in. We went to undo the seat belt and it would not give ant slack to undo belt. We had to slid her out of the seat belt in order to get her out. One time before she started screaming while we were driving because the seat beat had gotten extremely tight on her. I had a hard time getting her out. She has become scared of the seat belts. I,m getting worried myself.

Seat Belt problem #6

1) the seat belt casing breaks away from the seat belt making it difficult if not impossible to insert and connect seat belt into receptacle. 2) interior door handle (rear passenger) suddenly quit working, not allowing passenger to exit vehicle. This is a serious safety issue in the event of an accident or other necessary emergency exit scenario.

Seat Belt problem #7

There is tearing and fraying of the driver's side seat belt which is causing the belt to get stuck in the loops of the seat belt mechanism and making it difficult to buckle the seat belt. The biggest concern is if it does get stuck and lock into place wherein I cannot move or open the belt due to the fact that it gets tight this is definitely a safety hazard. In addition to which, the seat belt does not retract properly due to the tearing. In addition, the seat belt on the passenger side show signs of tearing also. This is definitely a safety hazard issue especially due to the fact of what has happened on the driver's side is now happening on the passenger side. There is obviously a defect in the mechanics, components and/or material of the seat belts and Chrysler is not recognizing this as their responsibility.

Seat Belt problem #8

The seat belts in the 3rd row have basically come apart. We have one on the second row that is begining to malfunction as well. Big problem when I habe 3 children that I take to & from school & events!! big problem!!.

Seat Belt problem #9

1. I was in an accident in which my vehicle rear-ended another. Most of the front end of my vehicle will have to be replaced. The vehicle that was rear-ended is a total loss. 2. At the time of impact I was wearing my safety belt but it did not lock causing my upper body to hit the steering wheel with great force. Also none of my air bags deployed. 3. I have contacted the dealership and Chrysler to make them aware of the failures. At this time, nothing has been done to correct these problems.

Seat Belt problem #10

3rd row driver's side seatbelt has broken twice since we purchased Jeep Commander in may. Dealer replaced broken seatbelt in December 2008 and it broke again February 2009. The first time when we arrived at our destination our son was stuck and couldn't get out. The seatbelt wouldn't release. The second time hard to fasten seatbelt. The seatbelt wouldn't latch. We are not using that seat belt till it is fixed. We are family of 7 so we use all 7 seatbelts. The consequence would be one of our children being seriously injured due to seatbelt failure.

Seat Belt problem #11

Severe collision with the front end of my vehicle. I was driving at approx 50 mph when the car ahead suddenly stopped. I applied my brakes and skidded into the other vehicle's rear end. From the skid marks starting at the point of contact my vehicle took approx another 35 feet to stop. I believe my vehicle's speed was 30 mph. It was a solid hit as my vehicle nose dived and hit bumper to bumper. The rear of the other vehicle's bumper was forced down to the ground and gouged the pavement. My vehicle then continued to crush in the entire rear of the car and my hood struck the rear window. The other car then traveled about 50 feet further resting upon a telephone pole. I believe that the impact was severe and of sufficient speed that the air bags and or the seat belt retractors should have engaged. I was seat belted in at the time of the impact but still received a minor concussion and whiplash. My vehicle's damage was quite severe and is estimated in excess of $14,000. 00. Both frame rails are bent and at the very least the left one will need replacement. The vehicle a, 2008 Jeep Commander was purchased new by myself in may 2008. All warning lights were off and all systems note no problems. By this I mean that the air bag lamp and seat belt lamp still operate even after the crash. The vehicle was towed to the body shop and await your advise as how to proceed. The vehicle has been appraised by my insurance company, and even their adjuster along with the police, emergency people have all questioned as to why my safety air bags did not deploy. The vehicle has not been disassembled nor has anyone messed with the vehicle before or after the crash.
