7 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/11/2021

The vehicle will completely shut down (stall) randomly while driving in motion. This happens randomly but consistently. This has happened while driving on highways in speeds of excess of 55mph and on other roads going as slow as 10mph or while in reverse. When this happens, the oil light and check engine light come on and the vehicle locks up with no power steering. The vehicle will start back up again after a few seconds when you turning the key.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2021

Electrical system is failing. Began with the electrical sunroof will not open/or slide all the way open, the sunroof electrical problem has been this way since I purchased it in 04/2019. Next the touchscreen panel for the radio am/fm, will shit off while driving down the road randomly and sporadically. Cd player quit working indefinitely, I cant even get my cd out of the cd player. Will not play any cd or radio if cd player is attempted to be activated. Airbag warning light is showing on dash 24/7, however, vehicle has never been wreaked. No airbag been deployed. Vehicle has never been in a wreak. Caused injury due to rough and rugged suspension and while driving the vehicle throws passengers and driver. Has been serviced & checked. Has failed to start 23 times in a row. Checked alternator, starter, ect. 7-10 minutes of attempting to start without luck. Professional mech. Claimed its the electrical system; pro mechanic fixed problem. Problem persists with electrical system has caused the gears to slip while cruise control is actively in use and if going up a hill rpm's will sky rocket from 1 to 6 in a heartbeat. Jeep Commander is a v6 but drives as a 4 cylinder. Driving on highway is dangerous when electrical system breaks down without warning. This has scared my fiance and I several times for fear of our lives. Suspension and shocks do not work well, as the slightest bump is rough and rugged throwing passengers & driver around. All these defects never occurred until 2021. Electrical system is the most important component of the vehicles makeup it makes everything run smoothly and every single day I have electrical system problems that effects my safety and anyone in my 08 Jeep Commander. This is a manufacturer problem, I know this because a professional mechanic informed me of this and asked me to request a recall on my vehicle. Please help to correct these issues for the safety of all those on the road. Thank you for your time and consideration. God bless.

My Commander will simply shut off while at speeds and or idling. . . Very scary vary dangerous. Sometimes it will start right back up, but most wont start at all. I have had to tow it away. Luckily I have been able to manage shut offs . . . But I have no confidence in this vehicle anymore. Dont want to put kids in with me or tow anything or even just drive it. There are no codes, or explanation to it from my mechanic. . . Mystery. It's currently not starting now and kind of done with this issue. Chrysler. . . This needs a fix badly!.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2020

Electrical system is failing. Began with the electrical sunroof will not open/or slide all the way open, the sunroof electrical problem has been this way since 10 years before I purchased it in 2019. Next the panel for the radio and screen panel for am/fm, then the cd player quit working all together. Will not play any cd. Airbag warning light is showing on dash, however, vehicle has never been wreaked. No airbag been deployed. Starting the vehicle, within the past 6 months 2008 Commander has failed to start over 20 times after continuously checking alternator, starter, ect. Informed it is the electrical system failing; by professional. Vehicles electrical system has caused the gears to slip and it is a v6 but drives as a 4 cylinder. Driving on highway is dangerous when electrical system breaks down without warning. Suspension and shocks seem to not work well, as the slightest bump is rough and rugged throwing passengers around. All these defects never occurred from April 2020 until recently about December 2021. Electrical system repair is thousands of dollars to fix or replace. This is a manufacturer problem. Please help to correct these issues for the safety of all those on the road. Thank you for your time and consideration.

13 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2020

The recall (n23 NHTSA 13v 225) per shanepua, of Chrysler, that is now causing major problems on my vehicle was not tasked to my specific vehicle and they won't honor the recall. The other 2 recalls were poorly done in Feb 2020 and is now again causing problems.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2019

The power locks make a horrible noise I I believe it is the activator.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2019

The vehicle door locks make s loud buzzing noise. I believe its the activator. This was noticed recently.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2019

Vehicle turned completely off while stopped in traffic complete loss of power, fortunately not while moving. Turned key to off position and turned back on. Vehicle did restart and continue to drive. Aware that Chrysler has recalled numerous 2008 vehicles for recall# p57 (fobik ignition key).

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2019

Abs brake slip control lights stay on.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

The electrical system has failed. The center sound system shuts off and reboots on its own every hour or 2 causing electronic failure and has proven to get worse over time. Following that the Jeep will randomly not start, mechanics have told me that it must be the electrical system because it is not starter, alternator or the battery. Failure to start engine has occurred over 20 times. . . Effecting my ability to drive to work a few times. Power train has failure has caused electronic control, software, shift lever/gear control and indicator devices, torque, drive axles, hubs, shafts, cv joints, housings and related safety systems to fail/stop working while in drive; example the Jeep was driving 50 miles an hour and transmission gears shut down and I tried shifting into neutral attempt to start transmission/engine failure. All transmission gears shut off. Then after 5 minutes came back on and started working again while driving down a country highway , luckily no other vehicles passed during this incident. This scared me and the passenger in fear of wreaking from lack of control of the vehicle. This has happened 2 times. Having severe problems with gear shifting or transmission failure. Has presented a safety hazard. The speed control fluctuates when driving up a hill or vehicle stalling while driving at 50 mph and must let off the accelerater in order to get vehicle back into correct gear. Vehicle has been inspected by mechanic by using diagnostic tests and each time they cannot find anything wrong with the transmission or engine. . . Only electrical system which makes sense because the Jeep is a Smart car and professionals have informed me to take the Jeep to the manufacturer inorder to fix the electrical systems malfunctions. There were no messages/warnings prior to each failure which began in the spring of 2021. Except the radio/center electronic consol which failure of the screen, dvd/video, & radio transmissions that shut down and reboot every 2 hours started 2019.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

I bought my vehicle at a Nissan dealership and didn't know that it leaked into the cabin on the driver's side foot well because of the drain tubes for the sunroof. I took it in they said it was fixed but the very next time it rained it was soaked again and by then I found out what is really going on with the vehicle. It's not that I don't want to be a good consumer and not make any waves, but I don't want to keep paying for a leaking vehicle, and don't know what to do. What happens if I go to step out of the vehicle and slip and fall, I have feet ankle problems as it is and it's detrimental to my health should that happen.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2018

Tranfercase shifted into nuetral while driving down the highway then back to drive jerking the gears and gears are now popping while accelerating.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2018

Leaking water through side driver handle also carpets soaked when rains. Has been happening through the years. Safety issue now I believe is affecting my electical in door panel. Passenger door window will not work from drivers side. Now leaking from light fixture. Will it affect any other electrical in the future? when Jeep was new door hinge was replaced rusted out. Need it done again. This is not normal maintenance to replace hinges. The door sounds like its going to crack in half when opening and closing. Wouldnt be suprised if it fell off. Its the same side as the leaks. Im putting todays date because its all the time. Also ive read there is a class action suit for the sunroof. But not vehicles before 2009? all recalls and suits match my situations but my VIN # doesnt come up?? not right at all. There are so many flaws in this Jeep but what im complaining about is serious.

22 Electrical System problem

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/23/2017

Electrical problem sometimes when I start the Jeep my radio will not come on it won't come until I cut it off and started it back up sometimes it take 2-4 starts. Water problem I have water coming in on the passenger side floor board every time a hard rain comes. Can't find where it comes from. Looked on youtube about 6 people had the same problem with the same kind of Jeep Commander. 2008. This has been going on for 8 year on and off some. I bought the Jeep in 2009 the 1st year it leaked a puddle the next year it didn't leak as bad I thought I was leaving the window down but, I was not it is coming in from the sunroof tray somehow I believe get full and leaks down in on the passger side floor borard. A lot of 2008 Jeep owners are having the same problem. Chrysler need to do something about it too many people are on youtube complain about the same thing it should be a recall on them.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2017

2008 Jeep Commander safety issue where it completely looses all electrical and motor systems while driving or idling. It stalls out only at low rpm or when shifting from first to second gear. I lost all systems including steering, brakes, and hazard lights. This happened to me several times in the past week nearly causing an accident. Dealership and private auto mechanic could not diagnose and it leaves no system events. I contacted Chrysler to see if this was related to an earlier model Commander recall with the exact same problem and they grew angry with me and hung up.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2017

My Jeep liberty limited manufactured oct 23 2007 reference to 14v567000 Jeep vehicles April 3 2007 to may 12 2008 ignition key (fobik) (exactly what is happening to my car) the ignition key (fobik) may not return to the "on" position after being rotated to the "start" position, instead sticking between the two positions. Potentially, while the vehicle is being driven, the ignition may inadvertently move through the "run" position to the "accessory" or "off" ignition position, turning off the engine. This has been happening off and on for more then 3 months now. Consequence summary: the ignition stays between "start" and "on" positions causes loss of certain electrical functions. Engines stops, stater continues running, all the dash lights go on and etc. Talking with Chrysler today have yet to add Jeep 2008 limited liberty to their recall list. I'm would like to have my car added to list if the government needs to this serious problems. The discussing part it is my fault if any serious accidents happens and I did not have Chrysler do required repairs with charging me for it. My problem with this any repair record of could be lost. ( this seems to be the trend with serious problems ).
