2006 Jeep Commander with 93000. I have had serviced multiple times over brakes and suspension. Brakes will just grind when trying to stop at times. Brakes have been replaced and problem still occurs. Every mechanic has said everything looks good. Had bigotires do 3 inspections on brakes and suspension and everything checked out! suspension- I have had services 3 times. All new parts have been put on front drivers side yet problem still persist. Popping noise and squeaking when turning and hitting speed bumps or pot holes and very noisy when backing up. Lighting has also started to go off and on! I believe something is wrong with the lighting. Sometimes when I turn them on they do not come on and once I turned them off and they did not turn off and made battery go dead but once jumps they were back to normal except my back tail light which I have tried having replaced multiple times does not work anymore and front passenger side head light has some major issues! also it is very hard to see when it rains even with brand new wipers there just wasn't much thought put into the Commanders! too many blind spots and also door handles on the inside easily break off!.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Commander. When the vehicle was started, the headlights and the tail lights became inoperable without warning. In addition, the instrument panel failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.
Dash lights and gauges began flickering and on / off. Eventually over a period of months, all vehicle lights began occasional going on and off completely. This included head lights, tail lights, dash lights. Began doing this more and more often. Do a lot of mechanical work myself. Saw that this was a fairly common problem with Jeeps as reported on the internet. Cause was a faulty light control switch on the steering column. Bought a new control arm/switch for about $130. And installed it myself. Problem appears to be repaired now. Should be a safety recall for these switches in losing all inside and outside lights while driving at night. Have checked around and do not see any recall as of yet for this problem.
My 2006 Commander stopped accelerating in fact it felt like I was driving against a wind blowing headon faster then I was driving ,then the Jeep started jumping like a hick-up then my tail lights stoped working and lower dask lights went out and my warning lights in dash came on,the vehical stalls out at idle or at start of acceleration not very good took to dealer was told I need a new front control module and new cooling fan ,nwe speed relay costing $1063. 00 im not to sure about it and thay tell me that it has no recall ??.
I have a 2007 Jeep Commander. The right rear tail light and inside dashboard panel has been consistency going out for over a year now. The fuses keep blowing. The car has been in the dealer service department several times. Even after lengthy consults with engineers at Chrysler, they cannot fix the problem. Maybe they need to get high on marijuana and drink beer to find the problem. The car is currently in the shop again.

Right tail light on my 2007 Jeep Commander keeps going out. Dealership service told me that the tipm system kept blowing the fuse. I had replaced the fuse several times but the tail lights keep going out. I have actually pulled up behind other Commander at red lights and noticed that the same light was out on their vehicle as well. You need to look into this. One doesn't expect to have the taillight keep going out after replacing bulbs and fuses.
While driving the dash lights went out and headlights started flashing on and off. Took it to dealer and they found no trouble. The vehicle keeps blowing rear tail light bulbs, and blower motor at times does not work on certain speeds. Cigarette lighter/power outlets stopped working even though fuse is good. Power windows intermittently stop working. The transmission went out around 62,000 miles. Had dealer replace transmission and now at 102,000 miles the transmission will loose drive when shifting into 3rd under moderate acceleration. You then have to pull off the road and put the car in park, then back in drive to regain drive. Transmission also "surges" under light throttle conditions at low speeds(10-20mph). I have contacted Jeep and their response was that because of the mileage on the vehicle they could do nothing. I feel that the flashing lights and the loss of drive while in traffic are major safety issues. I have been researching this vehicle and found may other owners with the exact same problems.
