On [xxx], a rental vehicle issued by enterprise was stopped due to an expired north carolina license plate [xxx] ) and a defective taillight. The expired plate was physically affixed to the Jeep Compass at the time of rental, yet enterprise’s rental receipt showed a different plate number [xxx] ). This discrepancy was never disclosed before the stop and was repeatedly denied by enterprise staff for months. Multiple enterprise representatives—including the branch manager where the vehicle was rented—insisted the Jeep had “only ever” had the [xxx] plate in their system, despite the north carolina plate being listed on the signed rental agreement and cited by law enforcement. Later, enterprise claimed the vehicle was re-registered in another state after impound, which altered internal records. This retroactive change created a misleading paper trail that misrepresented the actual tag on the vehicle during the rental period. The expired plate and defective taillight directly triggered a law-enforcement stop, exposing the authorized driver to legal risk, arrest, and vehicle seizure. This unsafe condition should have been identified and corrected before releasing the vehicle, per standard fleet-safety procedures. After impound, personal property left in the vehicle—including electronics—was denied by enterprise staff as ever existing, despite multiple third-party witnesses confirming its presence. One electronic item was later tracked via gps to a private residence unrelated to any enterprise location, after which it was abruptly “found. ” other property remains missing. Failure to ensure vehicle roadworthiness, improper record-keeping that concealed the true plate assignment, and mishandling of customer property after impound. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

At night, the light sensors cause the gps map screen to flash from dark mode to bright white screen when passing under street lights. Car is available for inspection. This is a safety factor in that the bright white lights flashing in the driver's eyes in the dark is very dangerous and distracting. The safety of my passengers, myself and surrounding vehicles was put at risk when driving in the dark with the gps screen flashing from black to blinding white under the street/freeway lights. I almost had an accident due to this problem and had to throw a towel over the screen to get home safely. Car has been back to dealership four times with no resolution or repair. No warning lights or messages, the same thing happens every time when driving at night. At this time 10/3/24, the dealership Jeep service manager (al serra Jeep, grand blanc, mi) is in email contact with star (Chrysler's tech team) to find resolution to this problem, which they believe may be a software issue and light sensor problem in the design of the vehicle's communication system. There are potentially many other vehicles that had the same software uploaded and their cars are operating in the same unsafe manner.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Compass limited as a certified pre-owned in late 2019 or early 2020. Late December 2021 I noticed that my infotainment screen looked strange so I began searching online and discovered the delamination known issue with the 2018 Jeep Compass screens. I took the car to the dealership that services it for me and they acted as though they had never heard of the issue (which I was certain wasn't true) before finally admitting they had "a couple" of these issues brought in. The only remedy according to them is for me to pay $1995. 00 for a replacement. I am disabled and do not have that kind of money for the repair. A few short weeks later and now my backup camera isn't working at all, my screen randomly freezes up while driving or won't shut off when the car is turned off. My heated steering wheel gets blazing hot and won't turn off and the heat and ac randomly turn themselves on at full blast. I bought this particular vehicle limited edition because it had gps, the backup camera and heated seats and steering wheel because I have severe arthritis and autoimmune issues that affect my joints and my vision. The heat helps my back and hands so I can drive. The camera was a great help in my being safe to back up as my peripheral vision is an issue. This defective part is a safety issue! I don't feel safe driving the car because I cannot see to back up. I'm constantly having to focus on trying to correct the random issues with the screen controls instead of concentrating on my driving. It's dangerous and they need to issue a recall! Jeep is well aware of this issue.

The unconnect radio worked fine for 3 years until I would have the heat running a while and then the screen would either go completely black or black with colored lines going through it. Since it has warmed up and now summer, I can come out and the screen does not work. This cause a safety issue it’s many blind spots in the vehicle and hard to see when going in reverse! also the car’s temperature control settings are in the screen. When this happens at night it causes a issue because its like a flashing with the black and other colors it does when the screen goes out. I cannot control the radio, temperature, gps navigation, backup camera, etc. Google it this is a know issue Jeep need to put a recall out on these radios. The infotainment screen is delaminating. Safety at risk: this is a problem because most of the controls for the vehicle are based in the infotainment touch screen. I've checked the web and noticed this is a problem with model year 2018 and possibly other years. Not a one time incident and seems to be happening to all models with the infotainment system.
Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass limited 4x4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023. . Since then the screen has gotten way worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc. ), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. If I am driving and need to change my ac up or heat down and its not working, I am having to take my eyes off the road longer to try and get the screen to work, which is a huge safety hazard. Also, probably not be related to the delamination, but my phone will not connect through usb to my Jeep, therefore I cannot use android auto. This is also a safety concern as I have to hold my phone or set it down on my lap and look down constantly to use gps. I live in NJ and gps is a must when driving anywhere. I have tried many different phones, different cables, and resetting my system, with no luck. With so many things wrong with the Jeeps screens especially 2017 and 2018 models you would think they would put out a recall, specifically for the delamination! this is happening to so many people with various Jeep models. I have been on the phone with Jeep multiple times, many times with representatives who are short with me, and do not care about the issue. It seems as if they get so many calls about the same issue, that once they hear that you are having problems with your screen delaminating they just dismiss you and want to get you off the phone. The issues I am dealing with, along with so many others is very distracting and a major safety concern when the screen is not working property while driving.
