1 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2016 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/21/2020

The car is automatic but stalled as if it were manual. When I come to a sudden stop it would stall out & shut off the engine. Mostly happens at street lights & stop signs. If I accelerate from a stopped position for to merge into traffic or to go at a green light. It jumps as if not being able to catch a gear shift. When brought to the machanic, they didnt notice anything wrong under the hood. This has been happening on a regular basis since I bought the car in 2017. I'm worried it would cause a crash.

2 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 03/28/2020

Purchased 2018 Jeep Compass trailhawk sport which now as approx. 28,000 miles. At approx. The one-year mark of ownership, the Jeep started experiencing significant issues with the auto start/stop feature and back-up camera. With regard to the first, the vehicle will be stopped at a stop sign, intersection, etc. And the engine will turn off (auto start/stop feature), however, the engine will not turn back on at times. This is an intermittent problem and unknown what it resolves to specifically. On occasion when this fault occurs, the vehicle will display the auto start/stop light on the dash with an exclamation point next to it. In the owner's manual it advises the vehicle should be taken to the dealership for diagnostics. Owner has taken the vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions without any explanation or remedy. Dealerships have advised they are unable to determine the source of the problem and unable to replicate it. The back-up screen is also an intermittent issue. On occasion it will work whereas other times it will simply display a black/dark screen. The text "check all surroundings" still displays on the black screen. Most recently, however, owner observed the screen showing "camera system unavailable" with the black screen. Jeep's warranty provider/administrator has been extremely unresponsive in resolving the auto start/stop issue. In many cases, we aren't even receiving acknowledgement of the videos/pictures we are sending in to their email. As of late March, owner is receiving a new back-up camera after having just driven the Jeep to a dealer and requesting replacement. Owner is consistently being told to take the Jeep into a dealership, as the problem occurs, but dealerships cannot figure out the auto start/stop issue. Owner is becoming fearful in driving vehicle as it seems unreliable in operating properly.

3 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/22/2019

I pulled onto the highway and this strange light lit and the car seemed to be racing but not going anywhere. I pulled into the shoulder of the road, put the car in park, and the light went off. I tried going again but within 500 ft and the light came back on. Frantic I pulled into a shopping mall and pulled out the car's manual. I found out that it was the electronic throttle body light. I made the trip home and the next day took the car to my mechanic. The mechanic scanned the check engine light and replaced the faulty throttle body. My car is a 2014 Jeep Compass latitude with 52,363 miles. I was charged $556. 54 to fix my not yet 5 year old car!.

4 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 01/08/2019

My 2018 Jeep Compass has had both key fobs die within 2 years of purchase of the vehicle. The most concerning thing is that my vehicle will start and I can drive and then my car will say key fob not detected and I can no longer drive my vehicle. This is a great feature if someone where trying to drive away with my car, however I am driving my car and I have they keys inside. This happens more frequently in the winter months than the summer. It appears as though the winter cold causes the battery of the key fob to drain or not work properly. My car will not start or unlock, then once I am able to unlock the vehicle it has a difficult time detecting the key fob (even when following instruction manual shot a dead fob). The vehicle will eventually detect the fob and start. Then on my drive the key fob needs to be on the dash next to the start engine button so I can drive and even then it can result in not being detected and stalling the vehicle. I find this a very concerning issue.

5 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2018 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 08/15/2018

This car burns oil which I was not told about by the dealer when purchasing. That in and of itself is a problem (I have since been told to check it every 1000 miles even though the manual says it can go 7500 w/o changing), but the real problem is when it gets low the car just turns off. No warning. Luckily I was in a residential area when it happened, although it was an intersection. I was with my 3 year old and required help from a passerby to help push it to the curb. I could have been driving on a freeway with no shoulder as often happens on highway 1 where I live. This feature is dangerous! somebody is going to get hurt because of it. It is currently in the shop for some other problem where it wont start, which is also dangerous in it's own way.

6 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/15/2018

Sirius travel link/uconnect system installed in fca's 8. 4" nav infortainment screen comes with a 5 year trial of sirius travel link which access the national weather service alert system, and as a result the driver is bombarded with numerous weather alerts for the region - they are very distracting pop-up windows which must be manually dismissed, requiring driver to look away from the road and take a hand off the wheel to "x" out of each one on the touch screen. These alerts pop up many times during a single short trip depending on the weather, sometimes as many as 15 in a short 10 minute drive, and includes counties over a hundred miles away. There is no way to disable them in the radio. It is impossible to get rid of the service - we tried cancelling our sirius subscription entirely but the weather alerts have continued. We have experienced a number of instances where the radio has caused us to not see things while driving because we were looking at the screen to turn off the alerts. These alerts are numerous, frequent, and horribly annoying, and very distracting. There has to be a way for the user to disable these notifications.

7 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

Sirius/xm guardian weather alerts on radio for areas that are not in your local area are a constant distraction and cannot be disabled. Alerts occurs for weather that is 100s of miles away from home location. Alerts do not go away by themselves, they have to be manually cancelled on the radio display.

8 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

Jeep's uconnect system has, on three occasions, not recognized my voice for calling an existing phone contact. In place of canceling, or asking for a manual selection on the screen, uconnect defaults to calling 9-1-1 emergency services. This places me in an awkward position, ties up essential emergency service resources, and is embarrassing. I have even changed the names in my phone to avoid any sort of confusion. Since September 2017, this has occurred three times.

9 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 09/08/2017

Owners manual shows reversed polarity on battery terminals in the jump starting procedure section. Chrysler has a recall (t46) out for the corrected manual for vehicles built through April 28, 2017, my car was built on April 29, 2017 and has the incorrect manual but Chrysler refuses to provide a correct one, saying I'm not part of the recall.

10 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2010 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

After driving 180 miles, my transmission temperature controller light came on, was going between 75-80mph, when the light came on and I lost acceleration power to the vehicle. I proceeded to exit to a near by gas station, and read in the manual the smallest paragraph on what to do. After putting the vehicle in neutral, turning off the a/c, radio, and headlights, I let the car sit and cool off. Within 4 mins the light went off. I filled with gas since I was running low. From that point the vehicle stalled and bucked when leaving the station and died within 500 ft from the pump. After restarting the vehicle it jump and bucked one more time, then drove for 25 miles to my destination with no other problems. Please provide feedback on to why the transmission temp light would come on while driving, and provide a solution. I have had this car for 3 years now, only having issues with stalling and vehicle dying after filling up at the gas station. This has been happening for about 8 months now after each fill up.

11 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2008 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

My husband was driving the speed limit which was 70mph. All of a sudden the car slowed down to 40mph. It would not go any faster. He even tried to give it a little more gas but it still would not go any faster. Then it slowed down to 35 then 30. There was nothing you could do. It sounded like the transmission would not shift. It sounded like it was in a lower gear and would not shift to a higher gear. The car then started to over heat. We opened the sun roof, rolled down the windows and turned off the ac. We even turned the heat on as recommended in the manual but no luck. We ended up having to stop. On the interstate this was horrible. I thought we were going to be hit from behind. People are going to fast and even though your in the right lane they don't slow down but try to go around you. It's the people who can't get over into the left lane and just about run over you that is terrifying. We were told by the Chrysler dealership that this happened to the Jeep Compass all the time. Sometimes 1-2 times or 2-3 times. They will diagnose the problem and fix it. How can you fix something after its run the transmission so hard? my thing is put a new transmission in it and whatever else it needs new. We have a bumper to bumper warranty and I can bet we will be charged something. Who is to say it won't happen again, or when my grandchildren are with me? I wish I had known about this problem with this Jeep I personally wouldn't have bought it. It has already been paid off and darn, look what just happened. I would like to know how many other people have had this same problem and how many times and what was done about it.

12 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2011 Jeep Compass

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

At 45000, the throwout bearing went on my Jeep Compass. This will also cause a need for a new clutch plate. I have been reading online, and this is a very common problem, for a lot of Jeeps with manual transmissions.
