The electrical system in my 2025 Jeep Compass repeatedly displays multiple warning messages, including issues with the engine, aeb (automatic emergency braking), and “start/stop disabled. ” recently, the airbag warning light has begun turning on and off daily, advising to “get service. ” when I bring the vehicle to the dealership, the error codes are no longer present, and the technicians say they cannot duplicate the issues. However, while driving recently—with no other vehicles nearby—the aeb system suddenly activated, causing unexpected emergency braking. This is extremely dangerous and could easily lead to an accident. I’m very concerned that the safety features intended to protect me could instead cause harm. The airbag warning appearing and disappearing daily raises fears that the airbags could deploy unexpectedly, especially since service technicians cannot reproduce the warnings. In addition, the vehicle has been in the shop three times this year for what sounds like an exhaust leak, but no issue has been found. These repeated electrical and safety malfunctions indicate a serious defect, and I strongly believe this vehicle should be reviewed for a recall.

Car will intermittently get a message saying coolant temp high and the vehicle completely shuts down. It takes about 30 seconds before it is able to be restarted and is able to drive again. It appears to be related to the start/stop feature, because that is the only time we see it. It can happen within one mile of driving from home, so the vehicle isn't even up to full temperature. I have replaced both the primary and aux batteries, the issue remains. The coolant level is fine. I took it to the dealer a couple weeks ago and they found no trouble and did a coolant flush, but the issue happened again today. My main issue with this is that the vehicle is my [xxx] daughters car and I don't want something to happen when she is on a busy road with drivers going 50 mph or more. I have read online and it looks like several people are experiencing this problem. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

On several occasions, the check engine light comes on, the temperature gauge goes all the way up and it states “coolant temperature too high” before the car powers off. I had taken the car to a mechanic who said that it was a sensor issue and replaced the sensor. It has continued to happen on a regular basis while I’m driving. I have contacted Jeep and have an appointment for them to “assess” the car. This is beyond dangerous, has happened while driving on the highway, and I see that it’s happened to other Compass owners as well. Something needs to be done to address this before someone gets killed.
Without warning the vehicle lost power while driving and stopped completely. After waiting a few minutes I was able to get it started again.
I bought my Jeep Compass latitude 2022 brand new for a dealership in November of 2021. Since then my random dashboard lights have come on and off, the call has stalled numerous times all relating supposely to the batteries going bad. I had both batteries changed less than 2 years. I feel there is an issue that needs to be addressed.

While attempting to do a u-turn on two different occiasions once the u-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a u-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly.

When I start the car, the steering whell is frozen, willnot move an the gear shift will move but it car will not move,, after several attempts of pulling the emercency break an turning it off and going thru the shift pattern , the car may move,,,sometimes I have to shut the motor off an on to get the wheel unfrozen and the gears to work. . . . Have owned the car 3 months an this has happened 4 times. . . . At this time the car is at the dealership for repair, however they can not get the car to do the same thing for them, so they do not know that to fix. . They are trying to figure out what is going on. . . Being real helpful,,but can not fix a problem they can not find.
When the auto shut off is engaged when I come to a stop light or stop sign the engine will shut off but will not restart. Have brought the car into the dealership and they say they can not recreate the issue. This is the fourth time this has happened with the car - I am reporting the most current event.
-infotainment/radio failure. Not available for inspection: its whereabouts are unknown to this driver-has been given to Jeep/mopar. -backup camera intermittently working: would freeze up while the car was actively in reverse. While driving (vehicle in forward) backup camera would turn on & show footage of the car in reverse from much earlier in the day (>7 minutes have passed since reversing the car). Safety risk to self/others as the back up camera was inoperable while in reverse. -radio remained on despite the car being off, driver & passenger entering & exiting multiple times, locking/unlocking the car, etc. It stayed on 18 minutes before this driver shut it off manually. Safety risk to self/others as the car battery was at risk of being drained despite the car being off. -problem was diagnosed & radio replaced by Jeep dealership. -no inspection by police or insurance. Radio was replaced before it could produce real safety events -no warnings available/applicable. Problem began intermittently & then became a daily issue.

When my oil gets low, my car shuts off in the middle of the highway. Also, when I turn my wheels, it's making a very loud clicking noise.
Turn signal does not cancel. Intermittent problem that occurs infrequently. Safety concern because turn signal may signal for one direction when driving the car to the opposite direction. I am reluctant to pay about $250 to dealer to diagnoise because issue is intermittent. Dealer refuses to note complaint on customer records without diagnosis. I called customer care and reported issue, 4/15/25 case # 92675100. Customer care requested to have dealer diagnose, but I explained that issue is intermittent and difficult to reproduce.
After going on and off intermittently for the last year, the rear view camera system stopped working altogether! there is a recall for my year (21) and model (Jeep Compass) but unfortunately my VIN number is excluded from this recall and stellantis says there's nothing they can do on their end to assist me with this issue. This creates a safety issue whenever I'm backing up anywhere. To diagnose the problem, my dealership wants to charge me $210. 00 just to look at it. There are no warning lights except words on my black screen that say "camera system unavailable".

This has happened three times in the last 4 months. There is no pattern, rhyme, or reason to understand why this happens. Today, while driving on the interstate at approximately 60mph, my 2019 Jeep Compass (80k miles) jerked violently and displayed the “engine coolant temp high” warning message while the temperature gauges spiked. I coasted off to the shoulder. This could have caused an accident.
We purchased the car in Jan of 24 (lease) - for my 16 year old. Wanted a safe car that was reliable. We had issues since the start - the interior goes black - nothing inside the car works but it still drives. No blinkers, no back up camera, not heat, no radio, no lights - nothing - it has been in the shop 6 times. Well over 30 days and nothing has fixed the same problem. Jeep has not worked with us on a solution. Awful customer service. We have asked for the lemon law buy back - no follow up or explanation. Looking for any help we can get. This car has been awful/ this has been happening the whole time - but most recent was when we brought it in on 4/4 - and still do not have the car back.
Rotator/control arm issue.
Aggressive premature tire wear on the inner section of the tire tread on a 2022 Jeep Compass (purchased December 2022). Mostly on the front tires, similar slight evidence on rear tires. Alignment was investigated in March 2025 by commercial repair service center (not dealership). Alignment is within factory specifications. Service manager only recommended replacing the front two tires, as there was nothing they could do for the alignment - pictures attached of front tires. Back tires were rotated to front position with new tires mounted in the rear. Five months later front tires now need replaced with mileage at approximately 28,000 miles. Internet search for similar issue has overwhelming number of complaints documented by other owners across the u. S. And canada. All complaining of replacing tires due to perceived alignment issues from the manufacturer.
Sunroof exploded outwards while driving, took no damage from debris or flying objects.
Since I first got my brand new Jeep Compass in 2021, the tire pressure light would flash on and off, with a warning that my tire pressure was low. When I first saw this light come on, I obviously didn't realize that this light was faulty and inaccurate. I took it to the dealership to check my tire pressure and it was completely fine and normal, so all of that worry and time taking it to the dealership for nothing. That initially happened only about four months into having the brand new vehicle. Since then, that light still flashes on and off, and I ignore it because I know that it is faulty. This is a major safety concern, because if my tire pressure is low, I won't ever know if it is accurate or not, so I could be driving with low tires and potentially get into a bad accident. Additionally, the automatic stop / start button has come on multiple times. It initially came on may 2024, which then triggered the check engine light. I had to take in my car due to this issue, and it was in the dealership for a week, resulting in a thousand dollar charge, and all of the ubers I had to pay for. The automatic stop / start button killed both of my batteries and I had to replace those. Not even a year later, March 2025, the automatic stop / start button light came on my dashboard again. I took it into the dealership yet again this month, and it was in there for a full week, so I was without a car that entire time having to pay for ubers and so on. When I picked up the car, the mechanic informed me that this is a common issue and will continue to be an issue. In his professional opinion, he thought this should be a recall. I know it his not his call, but I do think that there should be some sort of resolution or help that I receive for this. I know that this will continue to be an issue, especially a safety issue, so what is the resolution here? please help.
Potential odomete rollback indicated.

I’ve been experiencing persistent issues with my car’s coolant system. In January, they replaced the hose connected to the coolant reservoir, but within 30 days, I received another overheating warning. When I brought the car back, I was told that the coolant reservoir needed to be replaced, and now I’m facing the same problem for the third time. This situation raises serious safety concerns because my car isn’t alerting me when it’s overheating. It appears that either the thermostat is faulty or it wasn’t properly replaced and checked during the repair. I requested to speak with a manager to escalate the issue, but they refused to provide any contact information.
Car won’t start due to low coolant error, fluids are fine.
The auto stop has stopped my vehicle at a light and failed to start back up. On several occasions I have been at a red light, and my car refused to take off, like it is just stuck. I have to put the car in park and restart. The auto stop is very dangerous, I have to turn it off when I get in my car. ( I have to warn family when they are using my car) a few times I have forgotten. I have taken my car to 3 Jeep dealerships and they say they cant find a problem. They is an issue and no one is hearing me.
The problem happened twice, this month: first incident, waiting at a red light, light turned green, I took foot off of the break and car turned off. Placed hazards on, put car into park and turned car off and then started back up. Reserving out driveway, went to shift from r to d and my car turned off. I placed the gear shift back into park and turned the car back on. There was no warning lights or lamps when this happened. I called the dealership where I purchased the car to confirm if there were any recalls. They asked for my VIN # and stated there was no recall for this type of problem. I found online that other 2016 Jeep Compass owners, did have the same issues occur and it was a crankshaft recall. Due to my manufacture date of 10-15, this was not considered a recall problem.
The screen on the dash has quit working and the backup camera does not work this started when we got snow, thought once weather warmed up things it would work tried the reset button to no avail. Hesitated about buying another Jeep now I wish I hadn’t nothing but trouble.
My uconnect screen has distortion and can't view rear camera when backing up. I feel this is a safety feature that many people are having since I see people trying to repair on the interweb. I feel manufacturers should cover anything safety for an extended period compared to regular warranty items. Thank you [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Car is equipped with a backup camera, but unfortunately, the infotainment screen is failing, and the rearview camera is distorted and unable to provide clear rear visibility. This is a common problem with these, and I suspect it is a failed cooling fan for the infotainment unit. It is only a matter of time that the screen will be a complete failure and hopefully not during a reversing evolution. My vehicle only has 60k miles. I have not taken it to the dealer because I do not have another vehicle to drive if this is in the shop for 2 weeks just to be inspected. Feel free to investigate my vehicle for this issue.
The radio became scrambled and it is malfunctioning. It puts others at risk due to rear camera not working control of heated seats and steering wheel ect. I have read multiple reports of others who have had the same issue.
The screen in most 2018-present Jeep Compasses are defective. My car just fell out of the warranty time frame and shortly after the screen failed resulting in no alerts via the back up camera. The camera helps alert you to things you can not see in your blind spots behind the vehicle resulting in a serious safety issue for pedestrians/ small children etc outside of the vehicle and also poses a threat to the driver. There were 0 warnings of failure in this component and I have read numerous hundreds of others describing the same issue. Expecting consumers to purchase this car with such failure rates is irresponsible and negligent. For a device that should have a life of 5-10 years failing after 3 is disappointing.
My 2018 Jeep Compass has an oil pump issue it seems. I read about previous scenarios and forums that had issues with this vehicle like mine. I would drive the vehicle and not within 5 minutes it will turn off half way down the road in the middle of an intersection that could have caused the lives of others and my child and myself. This vehicle is not safe at all! I have contacted and informed the dealership on multiple times about this issue.
Auto start stop feature stop working and caused my car to stall. I had to set my car to stop, take my foot of the break. Re started my car, all while traffic was going, in danger of getting rear ended.
The start/stop has been an ongoing issue for awhile now. It's been to the dealer multiple times for this issue. The vehicle will sometimes just stop while moving or will not start at a light. Each time requires the vehicle being placed in park, turning off the vehicle, restarting the vehicle, and releasing the parking brake and finally shifting into gear. This is dangerous to have this happening in traffic. Jeep seems to not care about these concerns.
I been having a problem as I noticed it’s been seen multiple times with a Jeep Compass well mine is a 2021 Jeep Compass trail hawk. The car will shut off and say high coolant temp when that’s not the problem. The car is not hot and there is no problem with it just lose power and have no control over the car. It shuts off when I’m driving on the highway has left me stranded multiple times. Almost got hit turning on to the highway and it died as I was turning with a car head on. This is so unsafe. The car has been in the shop multiple times they replace stuff say it’s fixed it’s not and happens the minute I drive off. I been stuck in the middle of the lane with oncoming traffic’s and almost been hit. The dealership seams to not know what’s wrong with it and it’s so unsafe to be driving around in. Along with the many other people who have had the same problem. This is dangerous and keep should not be selling unsafe cars.
I have replaced both batteries and the alternator. The stop/start light comes on and the red warning to pull over safely the vehicle will shut off soon and the engine light comes on. The vehicle is now telling me to service transmission. The dealer doesn't know what's wrong with it. I want this taken care of.
Within a period of three weeks, I received two alarming messages that appeared suddenly on the dashboard, "pull over now, engine will turn off soon. " the first instance happened as I was driving on I-80 east going about 70 mph, while towing a teardrop trailer. Fortunately, there was a rest stop ahead and I was able to pull over safely. After 30-45 minutes, I turned the ignition on, the message wasn't there, so I was able to get back on the interstate and drive home. The second incident happened while I was exiting a parking lot, trying to merge onto the main thoroughfare. Had the car towed to Jeep dealership. Car would not start when tow truck driver was trying to remove car from tow bed. Tow truck driver used a portable battery charger to start engine up. Jeep dealership replaced the secondary battery that is connected to the start/stop feature, but when they test drove it, the car's power turned off again. Apparently, the main battery (which was replaced a month or so before by another company) was not installed properly. When that adjustment was corrected, the car was test driven a second time, and has been running fine. However, yesterday I read that 64,000 2017-2019 Jeep cherokees are being recalled due to loss of power. It made me question whether the battery issue I experienced is really the culprit of why my engine turned off or if there's something else that I should be aware of.
