Wiring problems of the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Three problems related to wiring have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2011

Tl-the contact owns a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph, approaching a traffic stop signal and the engine suddenly stalled without prior warning. Upon restart the vehicle resumed normally. The failure continued to occur sporadically and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the failure was contributed to the pcm and wiring harness. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. Js.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2004

The rear driver side door had cracks in the door seal, which caused water to leak into the vehicle and created a problem with the wiring system. The consumer stated the wiring system was faulty.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2001

Fuel gauge - vehicle runs out of fuel at 1/4 tank marker. Ts.
