2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo: cracked cylinder head. 143,000 miles. Engine must be replaced. Will cost $4,000. This engine problem sees to be extremely common.

2 Engine problem

Very little heat is coming out the driver side and cold air is coming out the passenger vents.

3 Engine problem

Noticed in fall of 07 that the oil pressure was dropping to zero when the vehicle warmed up. Check gauges light would come on. In winter 07, started having to refill the coolant. I had the coolant checked and the dealership said there was no problem. Recently had trouble starting the engine and took it to a local repair shop. Shop technician said my engine is going to blow and should replace it ASAP. Unacceptable! I followed every oil change religiously!.

4 Engine problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2006

200 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 98000 miles engine surges on start and when idling. Surge rises to 2500 rpm falls to 1500, rises to 2000 etc until it reaches 700 rpm normal idle. When in operation the surge occurs and would move the car forward if brakes are not applied. Surge can also be felt when decelerating and braking. Intermittent but persistent problem for start up and operation. Does not occur often enough or for long enough periods to catch on diagnostics. If gears engaged when in high idle it squeals rubber even with brakes applied.

5 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2006

: the contact stated while the brake pedal was depressed, the tires felt square and there was an excessive stopping distance. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, who determined the rotors were warped. The rotors and pads were replaced. The brake rotors have been replaced three times, but the problem persisted. The cranksahft position sensor was replaced. The consumer stated he could feel the transmission shudder. Updated 03/22/06.

6 Engine problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2004

Sudden loss of power on three occasions. While driving at highway speeds, vehicle instantly looses all power. Obvious problems navigating to shoulder on multilane highway in traffic. Could easily be stranded in lane. Difficulty steering. Requires towing. Has occurred three times in last two years, twice in last month. First time, replaced computer. Second time, replaced transmission sensor. Third time, undetermined.

7 Engine problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2003

While driving the consumer noticed smoke began emitting from under the hood. The consumer pulled over and vehicle was completely engulfed in flames in approximately 15 minutes.

8 Engine problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2003

There are alot of problems with this Jeep all witch I have proof of repairs, cam shaft, tires, brakes, alignment and humming at 65 mph.

Gears break on camshaft position sensor while driving. Car comes to a complete stop with no warning.
