1 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2010

I own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with safety recall #f25 (electric fan). On October 20, 2010, I went to the auto repair shop due to a coolant leakage. The repair shop inspected the vehicle and noticed the leak was caused by a damaged radiator due to the electric fan breaking into pieces and causing the leakage. I paid them $259. 00 for the new radiator. I was informed of the safety recall and I decided to go to the riverdale Chrysler Jeep located at 5869 broadway bronx NY 10463. After a general inspection they noticed the shroud was also damaged and refused to repair/replace stating that it was not covered. I am requesting full coverage of all related parts and labor as this was caused by the fan failure. I am further requesting a reimbursement for the cost of the new installed radiator and I can furnish a receipt as proof. The parts department employee handling my vehicle is [xxx] employee [xxx]tel# 718 548-3400 ext#305. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). 3 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2008

I had a mysterious coolant leak from my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had the water pump checked and it was fine. I had to add coolant and water to my Jeep everytime I went somewhere so it did not over-heat. I went to work and my Jeep was starting to over-heat. After my 8 hour shift I put in 2 gallons of water into the radiator. It seemed fine until I got about a mile from my apartment when my Jeep just stalled out. I had to get it towed back to my apartment. I had a mechanic come over and he thought I just blew a head gasket. As he went to replace it, he realized that my engine had blown up because of this problem. I do not have the money to fix this problem, also I still owe 7000 on it.

4 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2008

I purchased a Jeep Grand Cherokee brand new in the year of 2000. I've had nothing but problems with the heating of the vehicle. October of 2005 no heat on the passenger side. January 23,2007 the same problem and now again February 22, 2008 now it's the thermostat needed to be replaced. I'm wounding if this is a recall issue. Also my recent recall about the electric radiator fan, I paid out of pocket $836. 90 to replaced my radiator fan August 2, 2006. I think I should be reimbursed for that expensed because it was recalled after the fact.

5 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2007

I bought the car in September 2007. . In November I was on the highway and suddenly the car started to overheat had to get it towed to the nearest auto shop where they said the radiator was damaged and had to be changed. . . Couple days later the fan stopped working which also had to be changed. After all the over heating the mechanic told me the engine burned out and also had to be replaced after the fact my car wouldnt start. Had the truck working for a while until April 2008 where my transmission started failing. I kept hearing a clicking noise and the truck wouldnt accelerate as fast it should have been. Had the transmission replaced at cottman transmission. After all this had happened the engine light came on and I couldnt get my inspection done, turned out to be a hose causing air to be released. It is now January 2009 and my truck has leaked out all its antifreeze once again its over heating. All in all since September 2007 I have spent over $3500-$4000 on this truck. Still making payments on the truck from college hill auto in pennsylvania.

6 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/21/2007

Engine overheating had to have new radiator and fan.

7 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2007

I have a coolant leak that I can not get fixed. No visible leak, I have had pressure test after test, I had the head gasket fixed, radiator cap, alot of work done on it and it continues to lose coolant at rapid rates. Every three to four days I am filling my coolant up. Also, my rear brake lights go out and don't work when my lights are on, and I have had those replaced numerous times also!! very frustrating. . . No one can find the source of the leak and I have read page after page of complaints on the internet concerning the exact thing with the exact model!!.

8 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 03/08/2007

I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Jeep limited that I purchased new. It was fairly ok until 2003 at about 60k miles. That's when the radiator starting leaking. It was replaced in 2003 and annually thereafter (5 replacements) with the last one in March 2007. Additionally, I have had several water pumps plus replacing the heater core. The dealer says they can't find the cause for the radiators to continue to breakdown every year with less than 10k and under 12 months each time. I believe the Jeep has an inherent flaw in the cooling system design. Chrysler continues to ignore the problem and will not pay for any future radiators which almost assuredly will breakdown again in the near future.

She received the safety recall after the repairs had been made ,and she would like to be reimbursed. The contact has been calling and calling the dealer and no one answered the telephone.

11 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2006

: the contact stated the engine would over heat while the vehicle was in the stand still position on a frequent basis. On one occasion, the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined the radiator fan relay switch had to be replaced. The contact had the part replaced. Also, while traveling 40 mph, the vehicle had an extended stopping distance on normal road conditions when the brakes were applied normally. The brake lights did not signal any warning prior to the incident. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined the rotors needed to be replaced. The contact replaced the part, which corrected the problem.

12 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2005

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4. 0l. Radiator fan came apart damaging radiator & shroud. Replaced fan & radiator. In 2007 Chrysler had a recall for this problem but said my vehicle wasn't in the recall due to date of manufacture. Since this failure is identical to the failure that initiated the recall, Jeep should reimburse me for my loss.

13 Radiator problem

- the contact owns a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that there was a safety recall on this vehicle, and had the repairs made before the safety recall, and that it has now been 8 weeks and he has not been reimbursed. The contact was told by the manufacturer that he did not send sufficient proof to be reimbursed. The contact received the recall in November or December of 2006, but had already made the repair sabout August 2, 2004, prior to receiving the recall. The motor on the radiator fan would not work, and it was a constant problem. The current mileage was 102000. Updated 04/05/07.

14 Radiator problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2002

Bought used 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Jeep dealer in October 2002. I also purchased an extended warranty from Jeep. Auguest 2003 the oil pressure gauge dropped. Stopped Jeep checked oil, all looked fine, restarted, gauge went back to normal. Asked dealer about it, no problem they said. On a trip 300 miles from home, oil pressure gauge dropped again, did the same, gauge came back, but dropped again. Took to service station who couldn't help. Had it towed to dealer. They said gunk build up in the engine, need to repleace at a cost of $9,000. I couldn't prove oil changes ever 3,000 miles (they were done at home), I explained I had only had the Jeep one year, too bad. Extended warrenty won't help. I had engine replace by a friend with a used engine. July 2004, radiator had to be replaced. I called Jeep to ask if they would cover the radiator, they said no, because I couldn't prove I had the radiator flushed at 50,000 miles. I told them I didn't even own the Jeep then, but they said too bad. Someone needs to get Jeep to own up to the problem.
