The driver's side power seat bracket had broken in two, tipping the seat to the right.
The driver's side power seat bracket had broken in two, tipping the seat to the right, making me over-steer very quickly to the right which I had to compensate for in order to avoid running off the road into the ditch. I have since read online that this is a common problem of metal fatigue from under strength rails.
Break in drivers seat power lift assembly. Complete break in steal with additional stress fractures and splitting in lower chair frame mounting rail causing seat to disconnect from base. Continued use of this vehicle could cause serious injury due to the seat surface in which the driver is located, becoming detached causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle.
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland 10 way heated power memory seat . The original seat heater element burnt up in winter of 2006 . The mechanic who fixed the car said that there was a noticeable burn marks on the leather underside of the seat cushion. The replacement unit burnt again in 2008. I then decided against paying for the repair again. Now Chrysler has recalled over a 100000 Jeeps for seat problem under recall j17. I am told by Chrysler my 2002 is not involved in the recall. I feel if it is not, it should be. Apparently they have a problem also since the original repair was only 100 dollars and when it happened the second time it was over 300 dollars.
After just less than 30k miles, both front seat elements started to get overly hot, then stopped working. Took into dealer, found short in bottom element. Vehicle was stilll under warranty, I had also bought an extended warranty. Everything for that eight way powered seat was covered but the heater element. Was told it would be an $800 per seat fix. I declined to have it fixed. Now I find out that there is a recall for this exact issue, but that it does not cover my VIN number according to both the dealer and daimlerchrysler. It just doesn't make any sense how they can get away with this after reading all the blogs from people with this same issue and the same response from Chrysler. Sure could use some help getting them to stand behind their product.
Upon accelleration, the front driver seat broke resulting in severe backward and sideways tilt & rocking. Substantual corrective action was taken to keep control of vehicle.
