I reported this problem a month or so ago about the front driver's seat breaking and breaking off the vehicle frame. Plus the a/c issue under the glove compartment overheats and melts the mechanism and continues to burn. When I reported the issue, no wreck was involved. Since reporting the problem, the vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. My fix apparently allowed the seat to stay on the frame but the seat still broke. Fortunately, no serious injury, only sore neck and bump to the hand.
Hit from behind ,rearended,. First impact threw me forward then hit again 2nd impact broke seat back and I fell back flat into backseat. . 2 torn rotator cuffs and shoulder ball and socket damaged due to trying to hold onto wheel and maintain control of car while seat was collapsing.
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The seat frame broke through completely with normal wear, less than 100k miles on the car. I took the car to get it inspected and it failed because of the seat. Something this serious should be recalled.
My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo front drivers seat has broken loose while driving from the floor frame twice and the seat back twice. This is caused by under quality strength of metal and welds. Form asks for a date of incident below but this has happen four times over a three to four year period.
Driver side seat totally broke, including the brackets on the bottom, and the right side of the back part of the seat. It is very dangerous, was driving on the freeway when it happened and the seat just snapped. Now I'm having a hard time finding a replacement seat. . .
My drivers seat has broken off of my car offering no support in the event of an accident. The bracket that holds the seat onto the car broke at the base where the bolts hold it onto the car. If just sitting in the seat breaks it how well will this hold up in the event of an accident? getting into an accident at a highway speed could totally break the seat off of the car and offer no help in the event of a crash. In my opinion the seat should never break off of the car. The seat and the seatbelt are the only things offering me support in the event of an accident. I have had older cars before this one with more miles that have never had this problem.
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee driver's seat frame broken in front and back. Original break on the front of the frame needed to be welded back on. Second break is on the front and rear of the frame. Need to replace entire frame.
My 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee driver's seat breaks from the frame of the vehicle. The seat was rewelded to the frame but then the rails that are attached to the vehicle broke and needed to be replaced. A Jeep dealers' mechanic stated that this was a common problem with this vehicle.
Driver's seat frame broken, 3rd time. Welded twice before to repair.
Upon acceleration, the front driver seat broke resulting in severe backward and sideways tilt & rocking. Substantial corrective action was taken to keep control of vehicle. (I copied this complaint from another complainant because it is identical to mine). I had the same problem with my 1999 Grand Cherokee and the manufacturer replaced it under warranty after much negotiation, because the vehicle was out of warranty, calling it a safety issue.
