Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower cold air blowing from my vents uncontrollably from passenger side. Loud creaking sound coming from underside of ventilation? creaking from the dash seconds after shutting the engine off? as a result the defrosters on a car do not work. Dave baginski at jerry Toyota said he fixed it when I brought it in Jan. However, it broke a week later. He has refused to get it fix. Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower cold air blowing from defroster/heater system due to substandard components used by manufacturer resulting in defrost system failure that exists on these vehicles in year group 1999-2004. The manufacturer, daimler Chrysler has done nothing to resolve this issue with consumer/owners of their vehicles.
Had the defroster on. Tried to turn the blower to the vent position while fan was off and nothing came out. The defroster still works and the fan seems to be blowing, but for some reason, no air from front(outward facing) part of dash board. Had some knowledge of failure in the automatic climate control version, but specifically found Jeep with manual climate controls to avoid this problem.
Heater, defroster, a/c, vents all stopped working twice! on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The blend doors would break and stick, thus producing no heat, a/c. . Nothing! this is very dangerous and extremely costly 1200-1800 each time it has to be fixed. The whole dashboard needs to be removed, the coolant drained and refilled, heater removed, a/c drained and refilled, it is an all day fix for a repair shop who is fluent with this. Two days for one who is not.
Heater vent does not work.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower heat will not come out of one side of heater no matter what the temp is set to , makes all kind of loud noises and cracking.
Blows cold air only on one side when the heat is on. Unable to defrost windshield.
The blender doors on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee's ventilation system failed without warning. I can only get air flow from the windshield defroster vent. This makes if difficult to warm up the vehicle in the winter. According to my research on the web, this type of failure is ridiculously common on this Jeep model. I have scheduled an appointment to get the problem fixed, but my dealer has already warned me that the repair costs will be at least $500 or more. The dealer also stated that they had already performed the same repair on 2 other Jeeps this winter. Once repaired, there is no guarantee that it won't happen again. Chrysler should recall the affected vehicles and come up with a solution to the problem.
Defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower- blows cold air from passenger side of vehicle. I have the dual zone automatic heating unit in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. They had to replace the whole unit and it was not covered under the extended warranty I purchased for the vehicle.
Hot air/cold air blowing from vents when they're not set to do so. Blend door failure.
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the passenger side heater output went to 'full cold'. Took to dealer and was told 'hvac door replacement' was necessary at about $1200. 00 cost to me. Apparently a pin had broken off where the actuator attaches to the heater door. Entire dash assembly had to be removed, also air conditioner gas had to removed and replaced.
Climate control system fails to operate intermittently and makes noises.
Defroster/heater does not work on 2004 Jeep cherokee.
I only gwt heat on the drivers side and cold air on the passenger's side of my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Their is an on going problem with 1998-2004 Jeeps where the ac blend door breaks.
Research has shown all 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokees with electronic dual climate controls will eventually require major repair in order to cure hot air/cold air blowing from vents when they're not set to do so. The cost to repair this issue, which has been known to pop up again after another 50k miles after repair, is generally $800-$1500 from a dealership. Should you opt to do this repair yourself, the entire dashboard will need to be removed, quite the arduous process, and parts are approximately >$300. Does your dashboard have a loud creaking sound coming from its underside when you turn on your ventilation? is there creaking from the dash seconds after shutting the engine off? are there strange numbers popping-up on your climate control display? does cold ir blow from one side of the dash even when you have the heat turned on? your ventilation system may have failed, or, may be in the process of failing. Yes to all of the aforementioned. How in god's name has this not turned into a major legal dispute?! this, by far, is more costly than the repetitive brake problems a wj owner would go through. We're all going to get it eventually. . . Eventually we're all going to have to fork out anywhere from $300 to $1500 to fix it, so this is in no way comparable to the infamous brake problem since not everyone was affected by it.
I have 2 Jeep Grand Cherokee both have had to have dash completely pulled and blend doors replaced at a cost of $1100 and they both have only 50,000 miles. I was on a long trip threw the colorado mountains and passenger side would blow only cold air ,unable to clear windshields of fog. Visibility/safety hazard. Jeep knows they have this problem happens to all of there vehicles 99-04. They even have a TSB, but $1100. 00 to fix?.
In 2006, the heat on the passenger side of my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee quit working. This year, 2007, there is no heat on either side, just blows air. The repair shop wants over $1,000 to fix the blend doors. I researched this on the internet, and there are numerous people with the same problem with their Jeeps.
Clicking noise under the dash on heater controls.
Blend door malfunction.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower passenger side ac doesn't blow as well (as hard as) the driver side vent, and the air that does come out is hot. It's the opposite in the winter when the heat is on. Passenger side only minimal blowing and the air is very cold???? also affects the defrost on the passenger side. No warm air on passenger side, window will not defrost causing visibility issues!!!!!!.
Blend door failure. No heat on driver's side living in a very cold climate. $800-$1500 to fix for a vehicle that is only 3 years old. It should be a recall because of the fact it is a common problem with these Jeeps.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland: heat and a/c blower are in operative. Mid case and blend door are defective.
I own a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited with 66,000 miles. In August 2006, the ac quit functioning when air temperatures exceeded 85f. After a recalibrating, everything seemed fine. But when the temperature dropped the passenger heat failed while the drivers side continued to function. The dealership replaced the "blend air assembly" per the TSB - at my expense. Didn't fix the problem so they recalibrated the system again. Worked for about 1 month. Then no heat on the driver side while passenger side has heat from the top vent but not the lower. The right side blend doors have been replaced twice & system recalibrated 4 times- again at my expense. Still no heat on drivers side or lower passenger side. Keeping the windshield is problematic in poor weather conditions. Service manager says he isn't getting any help from daimler Chrysler. As temperatures have been below zero this is a serious safety hazard.
Failure of the hvac system in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. System fails to operate correctly with the effect of the DE-misting not clearing the screen and blowing hot and cold air simultaneously.
Hvac failure.
I have clod air blasting from the passenger side, even when the heat is on, and noises coming from the under side of the dash. The dealer told me it was the blend or door as soon as a I called and they even knew what it would cost to fix it. I asked if this was common since he seemed to know immediately they told me know, but when I went to the dealer to get fixed I overheard a conversation of another Jeep owner with the same problem, I paid over $1200 to get this fixed.
Entire climate control system died. Includes heat and defrost system. We had a high of 38 degrees this weekend with snow and ice and was unable to defrost my windows while driving.
Auto climate control system problems, blow cold air from one side and hot from the other visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower.
Blend door on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Ac/heater wj 2004 Grand Cherokee blend doors.
Vehicle defroster/defogger blows cold air only.
Wj blend door breakage - I am on my second door and it is still causing problems and blowing cold air - this is a very common problem and costs close to 1000 to fix.
Visibility: defroster/defogger system:windshield:blower does your dashboard have a loud creaking sound coming from its underside when you turn on your ventilation? is there creaking from the dash seconds after shutting the engine off? are there strange numbers popping-up on your climate control display? does cold air blow from one side of the dash even when you have the heat turned on? your ventilation system may have failed, or, may be in the process of failing. All of the above questions have "yes" answers to them. This is a major safety hazard because without a ventilation system working (especially in the winter), the defroster does not work. In the event of cold weather, the driver is not able to defrost his window. This problem is too common in Jeeps for there not to be a recall!.
