Dual climate control blend doors have broken, a defect in design that affects all 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited models. There is no hot air available to the passenger side of the cabin, and the passenger climate adjustment is inoperative.
The hvac system of the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee (dual climate zone) fails after a short period of time prompting expensive repairs. The hvac system will blow ambient outside air on one half of the car. If it's hot outside, hot air, not ac, will blow on the passenger side. Cold air in the winter.
2004 Jeep cherokee blend doors. I have to use a towel while driving to wipe the interior windshield since my defroster has gone bad. Why does Chrysler not cover this as I consider that to be a major safety issue.
1. My air conditioner started acting up and not blowing the correct hear/air. 2. The blend doors are broken on my Grand Cherokee 3. Nothing yet, its a $1200 fix.
3rd failure of climate control system inside vehicle controlling a/c, heat, vents, etc. Have paid a total of $3119 to have it repaired with new oem Chrysler replacement parts by certified mechanics. The same failure continues to occur where the climate control "blend doors" break in their plastic housing causing the doors to move independent of the computer control signals. In the winter, cold air will blow regardless of setting, and in the summer hot air blows - also regardless of setting. This latest failure occurred outside of the warranty. It was already fixed once within warranty period before 2 subsequent failures. Dealer reps informed me that 80+% of vehicles with dual climate control option have this problem. I have owned a 2000 and 2005 Grand Cherokees and have also experienced the same issue with both vehicles.
The door blend and actuators have failed on my Jeep. Middle of winter and my passenger has to sit in a vehicle with cold air blowing on them.
At 39,000 miles blend doors on air and heating not working properly. One side blows cold and other blow hot. Three repairs done by dealer and still have the problem.
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee that has had a blend door failer due to poor design. My understanding is this is a common problem with the heating system.
Heat and air conditioning died in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland, it only has 60,000 miles on it and I did some searching online and this is a common problem for the 99-04 Grand Cherokees. I live in a cold weather region and cannot defrost my windshield making it quite dangerous. It will cost $1,200 to fix it and I cannot afford to pay that. Chrysler is saying it is my responsibility to fix. But the problem lies with the blender actuator doors being too cheap when built.
Jeep Grand Cherokee hvac blend door malfunction will not allow proper vision through windshield due to defroster not working properly.
Blend door failure.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4. 0 litre engine, 4 wheel drive. Defroster/heater blender door gets stuck. Only blows air from the defrost vent. Very bad when you are trying to air condition the vehicle and you live in the desert as I do. Happens a couple times a week. Nothing to do but let it go. It usually goes back to normal cooling after about 2 hours or so.
2004 Jeep cherokee - a/c blows cold only on driver side. Problem with "blender doors" very costly to repair/replace (over $1000). This is a very common problem in this model. Chrysler is aware of this problem and has done nothing about it. It should be recalled and repaired for free.
Blend door issues, 2004 Grand Cherokee.
This pass summer I lost air conditioning on the passenger side, now this winter I have lost heat and defrost on the passenger side. Just today I lost all heat and defrost.
Failure of the heating system, making vision out of the windshield difficult in poor weather. Turned out do be a mid case unit (blend doors) came apart, entire dash had to be removed for the repair. Fortunately extended warranty covered repair cost.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the heater doors in her vehicle broke which left her with no heat and no defroster. There were no warning lights prior or after the failure occurred. She has not taken the vehicle to the dealer or spoken with the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired on 12/17/2009 by a local repair shop. The current mileage was approximately 87,000. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The heater in my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee has stopped working. Turns out this is a very common problem with Grand Cherokees. The blend doors break because of defective plastic stop pins. Daimer Chrysler now wants to charge over $1,200 to repair this issue, even though it clearly is a manufacturer defect.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with defective heat and cooling system. Consumer states that after about 30 minutes the heat on the passenger side is replaced by cold air. He states the vehicle will not be able to keep free of ice with this failure. The service department diagnosed the problem and ordered the replacement parts.
I do not know what caused the problem, but the blend air door on my 2004 Jeep cherokee is broken and only blows cold air. The air does defrost the window or heat the cabin. This could lead to a driving problem if the windows fog up while driving.
Climate control started blowing nothing but cold air out the passenger side vents. Not warning preceded the failure. I just got a complaint from a passenger that they were freezing one day. Research lead me to find it is a poorly designed blend door in the hvac system of wj Grand Cherokees. A quote of over $1000 to fix a cardboard part!.
Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 2004- heat not working properly due to blend door misfunctioning. Spent $1200 at Jeep/Chrysler dealership to fix and less than one winter later it is broken again. Even replaced all parts t-working and non working parts. This is a major problem with Jeep and this should be made a recall. Thousands of others are in our same boat and there are forum set up just on this issue. This is too much money to spend every winter on the same malfunction! drove less than 10,000 miles in 12 months on my vehicle. This should not have recurred.
Defroster/heater does not work on 2004 Jeep cherokee.
There were no events leading up to the failure that I am aware of. I attempted to use the heat this past winter, and nothing would blow out. No heat, no air, no defrost. My windows will not defrost. I took it to the dealership and they diagnosed it as broken blend doors. Needs blend door housing. They were asking around $1,000. 00 to fix it. I researched this problem online and found a forum where many people were experiencing the same exact problem with the same model. This is a factory defect. Nothing has been done to correct the failure. I don't have this kind of money. My vehicle was only 3 years old. I contacted the manufacturer to no avail. This summer I , along with many others, will have no air to keep them cool.
Heating and a/c malfunction, blend door actuator broke, messes with the flow of the heat and air. I've heard it happens to all these Jeeps.
Passenger side heat does not work in our 2004 Jeep gr. Cherokee. It is related to a door within the climate control system. It sounds like there are many people who have had the same problem with this. Estimated cost to fix is $800-$1000. The windshield will not defrost because all that blows is cold air. This is a safety hazard that needs to be addressed. Daimler Chrysler needs to be responsible for these defective parts.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee automatic zone control climate control system. Blend door failure causing obstruction in airflow resulting in costly repair. A related issue of the blower motor connector shorting out causing failure of the fan motor to work.
Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 2004 the hvac system my heat is not working in my car nor is the defogger defroster on the drivers side window and I can't see. The azc gives me codes 54 and 56 the left and right door travel is too large. I only have heat on the passenger side of the car. The drivers side blows only cold. I am getting quotes from the dealer of close to $1000. 00 to repair and its not under warranty. This problem has been around since the 1999 model. This should be a recall!!!!.
I am having a problem with the steering, brakes, and the heat vent. When turning left or right, it makes this awful noise. When applying the brakes, the steering wheel and the front end begins to shake. I took the vehicle to get the brakes changed and they said the pads look fine. When I had the heater on, it was blowing cold air on the passenger side.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle is equipped with a dual control a/c, which allows the driver and passenger to control the temperature on their own side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the blend door on the front passenger side was defective. The door prevents heat from entering and causes the defroster to work only on the driver side of the vehicle. She took the vehicle to a repair shop and was informed that the failure was due to a faulty blend door. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 52,000. Updated 10/24/07.
Heater blend door breaking.
Heat/ventilation system failing to temper air in cabin properly due to defective blend air door mechanism.
I own a Jeep gc limited, last week the heater failed on the passenger side vents, and have not been restored yet.
Heating/defrosting malfunction.
Failure of climate control "blend door mechanism. This is the 2nd Jeep Grand Cherokee I have owned and it has happened to both vehicles. When it fails, you cannot control the a/c or heat on each side of the vehicle. Repaired on both vehicles at a cost of $1650 and $1500 respectively. The first vehicle is now broken again, which will cost another $1500-1700 to repair for the same issue.
