I have a 2005 grand Jeep cherokee, the brakes are awful. In February 09 I had brake work done on the front and in November of 09 I need brake work again but this time I needed rotors, they fixed it free of charge but now I have started experiencing the same problem and it have only been 7 months. The shop said that the reason for this is, they don't make the brakes big enough for a SUV by it being a 6 cylinder. So I guess every 6 to 7 months I will be going for brake service.
