The faulty valve seats failed and destroyed my engine which left me stranded while traveling out of town. Engineers know the design was faulty as revision to address this situation were made in 2008 to correct the problem for the newer models. A recall should be issued for the earlier models to have the revised seats installed. This is negligent and will hurt the Chrysler name if not addressed soon. I had just pulled of the highway to refuel with no indication of any problems. The Jeep would not restart after filling the tank.
The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator randomly flashed. The dealer replaced the head gasket months ago, but the check engine indicator remained illuminated. The dealer indicated that a sensor may need to be replaced. In addition, various warning indicators and gauges illuminated and there was a strong hesitation as if the vehicle would stall. The dealer asked the contact to bring the vehicle back for further diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

While parked the car will rotate between not cranking to starting but shutting completely off. In addition to these issues while driving 40 mph the vehicle will sometimes stall and engine will start to lose power. I took the vehicle into cutter Dodge in honolulu for repair on 8/25. They diagnosed the problem as a ignition switch recall but they didn't have the part to fix it at this time. In addition, stated that the wireless control module(wcm) had failed and needed to be replaced. While the car was there they also performed a 28 point inspection and didn't find any additional concerns. Nine days later the wcm part come in from canada and was replaced. My vehicle was returned to me on 9/2. The car ran as intended at times for 9 days and on 9/12 the no crank, no start issue returned. As of the time of this formal complaint the vehicle will not start. In a closing, the issues the car was experiencing prior to taking it to the dealership for repair or exactly the same issues that I'm experiencing today. I will have the Jeep towed back to the dealership first thing Sunday morning.

While driving under normal road & weather conditions the vehicle began shutting off & on sometimes resulting in a complete stall that required restarting the engine after rolling onto the shoulder without any power! we received a recall notice that details their recommendation that it should be driven without only the key in the ignition as a temporary approach. The problem persist even under this precaution & has become worse! driver has to hold the key while driving when it starts to shut down to avoid the stall.

Pulling away from stop sign my vehicle lost power (stalled out). The lights for park, reverse, neutral, and drive all came on at one time. Lost power for about 15 seconds then car starting moving again. This has happened a few times not just the one date listed here. This was the only time I was actually pulling out into traffic. Could have caused a major wreck. Sometimes it does it while driving down road and I have to pull over to turn car off. When I start it back again it runs fine for a while. Ever since this has been happening my airbag light and engine light have been coming on and off all the time. About a year ago, I had to have a speed sensor changed on the transmission cause the car would not shift through gears cost me around $800 because it had to be taken to a transmission service center. Are these problems all related? bought this car from a private seller (one owner) well taken care of. All maintenance was up to date when I purchased the car about 1 1\2 years ago. Is there any recalls on any of the problems I listed here?.

The Grand Cherokee stalled at a light on a hill. Restarted it and but it back in drive but vehicle continued to roll back almost rolling into car behind. Stalled 4 more times but in parking lots and non busy roads. Took it back to dealer where they updated software on computer and said it was fixed. Then stalled on a busy highway and was almost rear ended because vehicle stalled and wouldn't go into gear. Then parked it in parking lot and it stalled in park.
Like others vehicle has stalled while at low speeds. At random times, took to my mechanic and he never could duplicate the problem. Till I took there for an electrical problem and to check out the steering, while he was test driving it it stalled on him and still could never find the problem, my lights flicker on the inside, dash over head light all inside lights, at night when I have my lights on, till I turn them very low and still flickers but can't notice it as much, inside lights don't turn on at all when I try to switch them on as well. The air bag light has stayed and been on for a while, my mechanic ran a test on that as air bag is fine but light stays on. I know there where recalls so I called Chrysler and they said my car does not qualify under any of the recalls. Now my abs and esp/bas, traction control light are on. At first they came on while I was driving when went to slow down my breaks rattled, the lights came on then went off. Now they have been on and won't turn off. And my cruise control stopped working as well same time. There seems to be nothing that comes up while running test and stuff. My car has 115756 miles on it and these problems keep happening. Also when I start it it ideals rough and when I'm stopped at a light tried and replaced parts and still does it. I love my Jeep and would like to have these problems found out and fix I'm almost done paying it off and want to keep it but it scares me that it's could stall any moment randomly.

While at highway speed, on the highway, vehicle stalled, lost power steering, acceleration ability, braking and lights. Had to coast to the side of the road while narrowly avoiding other motorists at highway speed. This has occurred on several different occasions at speeds anywhere from 5-60 mph. Very dangerous and frightening. This has been reported by thousands of other Jeep owners and is eventually going to get people killed.
While entering on ramp for highway Jeep shuts off. . . No more control since no power. Hit the guard rail. This stalling happen on many occasions while driving or in park. With passengers in vehicle very scary. Have spent more than $4000 @ dealer @ & manufacturer involved. With no resolution. . . But the stress & the dissatisfaction in the american product I'd like to buy that can't be fixed. I'm convinced I'll probably never buy american again. Very disappointed on how Jeep corporate handled the issue & left me with vehicle with these problems & told me case closed. . . Trade it in.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 4. 7l v8 with 27199 miles. Vehicle stalled while traveling at highway speeds accompanied by a total loss of electrical power including headlights. Steering and brakes were both difficult to use while attempting to slow vehicle and pull onto shoulder. This is a very unsafe condition and there was no warning prior to the event. Towed to dealership and was informed there were no codes in the system and they were unable to find a problem after two days of diagnosis and road testing. I have read numerous reports of similar problems, and the 2006 Jeep commander with the same engine was recalled for the same issue.

Vehicle stalls when accelerating from a stop. Has occurred about 4 - 5 times in the past year and have taken it to two dealerships, with no resolution because they cannot replicate the incident. When researching online there are forums with others who are complaining of the same problem. When accelerating from a stop it is usually into traffic and presents a major safety issue since there is a complete loss of power (brakes & steering).
My 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalls when decelerating or accelerating from a stop. Have taken to numerous dealerships and been told that there was nothing they could do. Was not able to duplicate the problem with a service technician. I am now afraid to drive the vehicle.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5. 7l. On various occasions the car has stalled abruptly with the effect of losing all power on steering and breaking. Some situations have been critical and some have not been. The car stalled when shifting from reverse into drive and on other occasions going downhill coming back from big bear (mountainous roads) going downhill using a lower gear to use the break power of the engine. The first time I have experienced this I indicated below with the downhill experience. Others followed.

Purchased the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited (4. 7l) new from dealership. It stalls unexpectedly. Usually at low speeds. Most of the time while turning. It does it probably once every two or three months, which makes it next to impossible to duplicate at the dealership. In addition, no codes are ever tripped, leaving no proof of an existing problem. We have taken it to the dealership on three separate occasions over the years while it was still under warranty, however, the dealerships maintained that if they could not duplicate the problem, they could not fix the problem, leaving it unresolved. The Jeep now has over 100k on it (out of warranty) and it continues to stall. What I find odd, is that this particular problem was happening to thousands of people with Jeeps like mine over the years, but on the three separate occasions we took it into the dealership, they acted like they had never heard of the problem. How is this possible?.
