I am experiencing so many problems with my Jeep. It shift out of gear then start shutting down. Lights appear all across the dash board. At times, I have difficulty in shifting gear. The clutch slip and I get this burning smell. Then engine light comes on. It slow to move after shifting it into the forward gear. Sometimes it doesn't move when I shift it into the forward gear. Then when it does, it start bucking and kicking while driving. It slows down even when you press the gas pedal. Lastly, I have major problem with my a/c. It runs cool for a second and then completely shut off.
I bought at an auction thinking it was a decent condition.
The door handle cups are disintegrating and handles are breaking off. I seen this is a safety issue many owners of Jeeps like mine having same issues I haven't owned it a year, it's in pristine condition otherwise with only 91,000 original miles you can't get out from the inside in case of emergency bith front & one rear are currently broken & u can't even locate replacement door panels as discontinued there is a repair that is available but why should I pay for what obviously is manufacturer issue I will file a class action lawsuit along with others if not addressed & Jeep/Chrysler can give me way more than the car is even worth. I don't want my grandchildren & I to die because we can't get out in fire or flood. I bought the car used at 84,000 miles and would never have thought to check door handle cups until a pieces of one fell out probably why he sold it to me with such low miles.
Transmission not changing gears. Transmission control module issue.
While driving on the highway the entire car suddenly shut off, on three separate occasions. All the lights lit up on the dashboard then the car would not accelerate. I turned it off when I reached the shoulder, waited about a minute then turned the car on again. I am grateful my daughter and I are still alive. I've had it in the repair shop for a month. They replaced the brake system and dealt with grounding issues but, they cannot figure out why it keeps happening. This is a very serious issue and I see that others have complained about it. Yes, the car is old and has over 175,000 miles on it but I see that this is a common problem so it should be addressed.
There wasn’t an accident while driving my vehicle (thank god). My key stopped working for my ignition. I had an ignition recall on my vehicle (as to what the dealership told me). My vehicle has now been with the dealership since around christmas maybe even a little bit before that. They did my ignition recall as to what was wrong with the vehicle. So they say. . It was towed in because it would not turn over. . They gave me a new key and put in a “new ignition” and still would not turn over. The dealership said my key would not flash over with the computer? also, stating I needed a new skim module. Which they stated that Chrysler discontinued that part. I was not offered a rental. . Which is fine I guess. . I’m a single mother of two kids. It has now been about four months about. I have never had in my life had the problems that I do now. My job is about to fire me, completely. The problems that I have had getting my children to and from school and doctor appointments, etc. I’m really at a loss for words. My vehicle had no problem starting before the ignition - key - issue. I really don’t know what else to do.
Recently we drove our 2006 Grand Cherokee overland and and smelled a burning smell did not know where it was coming from upon further investigation we noticed a small hole behind the passenger side rear seat it there was a smoldering hole that had appeared not sure what this is from there is no electrical equipment in this area could it be from the malfunctioning of the heat shield causing this problem.
Maybe hose radiator to the ac vent under the passenger cabin. My son got a 2nd degree burn on the top of his foot. The problem is not fixed. It was inspected by the local police and fire chief. There was no warning at all. .
When the lighting bolt came on my car went limp it almost caused a major wreck on the highway.
All of the inside door handles have broken under normal circumstances. It's almost impossible to open the doors and that to me could become a safety concern for a number of reasons. Especially if involved in an accident. Thank you for your attention to this complaint. God bless.
My vehicle cuts off while I'm driving some day's on the highway and handle on the passenger side is broken so I can't get out of truck without putting window down and opening from the outside lift gate glass comes open on it own and it speed and rpm goes up on it own with the car cranked and not being driven.
The engine light seems to stay on and the tire light keeps blinking off and on I bought this vehicle 10 25 2019.
Vehicle shifted into gear to drive however upon parking will not shift into park will only operate in reverse neutral or drive no low gears as well.
I had recall p41 updated to my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After the recall update I was instructed by the dealership, I would need to push and turn the key to start/stop the ignition. This upgraded function has always been hard to get the key to turn. Last week, while vehicle was parked at work 02jul19, it took me over 20 min. To get the key to turn by pushing and turning, to start the engine. The safety recall p41 is ineffective or installed incorrectly. My vehicle key turned fine before the recall and has not worked well since.
Interior plastic door parts are breaking due to cheap materials. Two of four handles are completely broken off and inoperable, creating a safety hazard as they can only be opened from the outside.
The dash is flashing telling me my driver door is open when clearly it's closed, which then leads to the interior lights to come on or stay on even after placing the switch in the off position. Also with said problem my doors won't lock. This also happens when said vehicle isn't running .
Door panel on drivers side broken door handle not working. Making emergency evacuation impossible poses a severe safety hazard.
While I was driving in my local suburban neighborhood, after driving about 6 miles, my vehicle shuttered and the dashboard lights flicked on and off a few times and started beeping. I got really scared so I pulled over, turned the car on and off again, and that is when I noticed the check engine light was now on. I immedietely took it to my trustworthy mehanic and that it when he told me the code reader was giving an error code of u1411 ignition switch. I did my own research and discovered that my vehicle fits the description (year/make/model) of a recall that was done on Jeeps 2006-2007 for faulty ignition switches.
While in motion the motor randomly jerked hard and made a very loud clinck, clinck noise.
Takata recall I have been having problems where my Jeep randomly shuts off in the middle of the road. I have usually been on city streets, some times I can be sitting in one spot, moving really slow, or even hit a bump and it shuts down.
When driver or parked and idling the dash, indicator lights, headlights, tail lights, speedometer completely lose power. This has happened while driving in low light conditions causing a very serious hazard.
2006 "laredo 4wd" series just like all 2005-2010 regular Jeep cherokee series has 1000's of people complaining on major safety issues with inner section of all 4 doors + how cheap this terrible plastic components on all (4) door handles and requires complete inner door panels @ $500 each (not including labor). Cheap plastic door panel material is honestly able to be snapped with fingers. . Read more...
Seat belt latch on passenger front will not latch without pushing the red button in and will not turn off red indicator light on dash. All the interior door latch handles are breaking or are already broken making it nearly impossible to open door from inside. Both would be dangerous in an accident situation.
Interior door latch mechanisms are breaking making it impossible to open doors from inside.
Traction control kicks on for 5-30 seconds at various speeds and road conditions. It has come on going 80mph, come on from a stop, going 30 mph on a city street. Not sure if that is why brakes exploded and broke apart. All tires same size.
I had an ignition recall performed, ever since my key turns real hard and my lights flash and I loose all the power on the dash, lights blinkers, gas everything. Sometimes the Jeep wont start and now the key wont turn I've complained aot and had sensors replaced and it's still the same way it's scary when your on the highway and all the electric is gone a d then comes back on, even if I hit a bump it goes out.
After havin my ignition lock cyclinder replaced today . Telling me this would fix the issue of my loss of power and lights etc . Ignition key failure and electrical issues with locks. Vehicle will not start at frequent and in frequent times. Vehicle seems to think that there is a key in the ignition. Dealer has looked at and replaced on previous recall. Problem is not fixed and vehicle will leave you stranded. Took back to dealer and they can't find issue! vehicle was stopped and stationary. Does not start when key is inserted and vehicle is parked.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo 2006 has all interior doors' handles braking to the point there are 2 doors already that we can not get out of the car without anyone opening it from the outside. This is a major problem for people with kids and for everyone. It is a safety issue. We are almost getting to the point of not being able to open the door from the inside. The interior door handles are made of some type of plastic that are braking by themselves. We need help immediately.
I've read sever complaints and noticed that my Jeep is doing the same thing. However, mine has 195000 miles a lot of the others I've read about complain about the exact same issue, I took my Jeep to national Jeep Chrysler and Dodge lot they checked it over and said they don't think it's the tranny it clunks when slowing down to 15 mph and 5 mph they also changing the tranny didn't help it. I just purchased this Jeep last week.
Interior door opening handles breaking/failing: 1 rear door totally inoperable. ***this is a dangerous safety issue ¿ if handles break or are inoperable in certain emergency situations, passengers may not be able to exit the vehicle, causing serious injury or death!*** manufacturer charge to replace/repair handles is prohibitively expensive: in my case, the cost of eight (8) monthly car payments! manufacturer safety recall warranted!¿.
This is regarding the p-41 recall notice for the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I took the vehicle in Feb. 2016 to the dealer to have the recall fixed and I find that the recall work has not been shown as complete on the safecar. Gov website once I entered the VIN number after being told the work was completed by the dealer. It states on the savecar. Gov website that parts to fix the p-41 recall are not available and seems to have not been available for quite some time. I am wondering how do I know that the dealer really dealt with the problem? they did something because my ignition is not working the same as it was prior to my taking it into the dealer. It is a hard turn of the key, to turn on and off the engine. It is very annoying and I often wonder if I will have trouble getting the key out of the ignition once the vehicle is off because the key acts as if stuck. The dealer tells me this will operate smoother in time. Despite this, I still wonder if the recall was actually fixed according to manufacturer specifications, especially since the work has not been shown as complete on the website and the part has not been available. I especially feel taken advantage of because this was my husband's vehicle and he died in June 2015. The dealer has always maintain this vehicle and there was an extended warranty, but it is no longer active because of the mileage. In addition to regular driving, I use the vehicle to tow a boat. I am concerned about the safety of the recall not only for myself but others drivers on the road.
2006 Jeep has 2 current recalls. I have called 3 different dealerships in my area and so far none is willing to repair the recalls with in a 2 week period. One dealership has failed to return my phone call twice the other two put repairs out for three weeks. I have notified the manufacture with the same complaint.
Door handle cups broken causing difficulty opening door because handle becomes so loose it looks like it's going to fall out. See a lot of these complaints and it's definitely a safety issue. All 4 of my handles broken!.
Sun roof started leaking water from rain on driver and down door frame and thru interior doam light. Caused very dangerous driving condition with the water pouring in on driver head and upper body. Everytime it rains water leaks very badly and floods driver floor board and effects electricial system. Jeep says not under warranty so wont fix. Researched this issue on the internet and 1000's of people are having same problem with Jeeps that have sun roofs. Very dangerous while driving and it must be a defective problem since so many Jeep owners are having this problem. Please help Jeep should be responsible for fixing this critical issue.
