On September 9 I was driving back from my grand daughter school and as I was pulling on my street, the Jeep shut off without warning. I had no check engine light on or any type of warnings. I had to coast into my driveway. It doesn't start at all. It had an oil change and fluids in Jeep. It did it without warning.
While driving 60 on the highway, I suddenly had no acceleration. The check engine light did not come on, the dash lights stayed the same as while driving. I pulled over to the side of the road, put it in park, turned the key off, then started it on the first try. It then drove fine. A week and a half later, 3-3-2015, I'm sitting at a stop light, the light turns green, I accelerate, the Jeep starts to move forward, then again, loses all power. I pull over, try to start the Jeep, it won't start. I immediately try again, it won't start. I wait about 20 seconds, try again, it starts. Drove fine the rest of the night. Both times I was on the highway in 4-6 lanes of traffic! one of these times I won't be as lucky as I have been! this is only a few of the ongoing problems I have had with this Jeep. You can check with the manager of the service department at lee Chrysler Dodge Jeep in fort walton beach to find out what part they replaced about 6 months ago that I had to pay for, that I strongly believe should have been covered by one of your many recalls. I really hope you plan to recompensate us for all the trouble this has caused us. Obviously I need to be rid of this Jeep before it gets me killed.
While accelerating the vehicle lost power and the prndl lights all illuminated. After a few seconds power resumed. This has happened several times and the check engine light has come on. We have been told its error code u0404 and the electronic shift module needs to be replaced. It appears this is a very common occurrence for this year vehicle. It is a safety concern because if it happened during high traffic times it could certainly cause an accident.

Numerous times I've been driving and my car has lost power and I've had to restart the engine. Sometimes it takes a while for my car to start on the first turn of the key. The start gets dragged on. Sometimes all my check engine lights come on with every other lights as well. Several times I have to wait then start the car and it will turn on. Besides the car completely turning off while I'm driving, now my car won't turn on at all. The battery is fine. Radio and everything turns on. But the ignition won't click over and start my car. So, now I am with no car for work. I called christlyer headquarters for my calls recall back in September and was told they are out of the part they need. My car worked then, just very sketchy, so I was ok waiting, just extremely catious. Now it won't even turn on, I called Jeep, they said they are still waitin for the part and all I can do is wait on the list. They won't even give me a loaner since it's a recall issue and not a "service" issue. I have no car, and not the money for a new one, so now I'm at a loss.

Stalling issues with 5. 7 hemi Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. Vehicle stalls at random but at low speeds and coming to a stop. Happens approximately 3 to 4 times per month (about once a week). Vehicle looses complete power, brakes, steering, etc. Huge safety issue. Only way to restart is to put in neutral or park. No check engine light but stores p0884 code. Dealer can not replicate problem but notices code. Dealer does not have a fix or does not know how to fix. Vehicle has stalled on railroad tracks, 5pm traffic, and worse possible times and could cause serious injury.
I purchased the vehicle at the end of may 2012 engine light was on and had a due bill for work to be done, stalling was 1 of the issues. Got it back with no check engine light on,but still stalled whenever hot or cold driving or in park. Has been in and out of the shop for almost a year and it still stalls, Jeep tech's cant figure it out. Dies sometimes 3-4 times a day and once in awhile not at all, but on average 3-5 times a week, never throws a code or check engine light just dies like if I turn the key off. I have to stop or pull over put it in park turn the key all the way off and then restart, runs fine till the next stall which might be in a few minutes, hours or the next day!! very frustrated and don't feel safe at all!!about 3000 dollars of work has been done and still stalls. Next thing to do Jeep tech says replace wiring harness 2000 dollars. . Haven't done that yet hopefully something else can be done!!! pcm and plugs have been replace by Jeep tech's among other things tried and it still stalls!.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the electronic shift module had failed which caused the engine to slow down and it made it difficult to accelerate. 1. My 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee (5. 7 hemi; 64k miles) was due for a tune up. I purchased replacement spark plugs that were recommended from a local auto parts retailer and changed them. 2. Subsequently the vehicle began to stall frequently while driving (approx 5 times in 25 miles traveled). This happened while driving at highway speeds, at stoplights and when making left hand turns. 3. Vehicle was taken to dealer for service as engine light had also been on during entire time. Dealer worked on trying to find problem for 3 weeks. After consulting a Chrysler engineer they finally discovered that the aftermarket platinum tip spark plugs were causing interference with the vehicle powertrain control module and causing the engine to stall. Dealer replaced the spark plugs and the problem was corrected. I went back to my parts supplier and they had never heard of this problem before. I also notified Chrysler of my complaint that consumers and parts supply retailers should be made aware of this parts incompatibility issue that they are obviously aware of because it is a potentially serious safety hazard. They have not responded to me.
Vehicle loses power at interstate speed. Incidents: 5-30-2007. Wife was driving vehicle on interstate. Vehicle just turned off after loosing power. Wife pulled to shoulder of road and put into park. Restarted engine. No 'check engine light". Took vehicle to dealership for system scan. Sonya rechtorovic at landmark Dodge (770-968-4900)checked vehicle into repair. Received paperwork which says "customer states while driving on interstate, vehicle shuts off. No codes in system. All systems operating as designed. Test drove vehicle and could not duplicate concern. " incidents have happened again on 7-1-2009, 7-4-2009 and on 7-6-2009. Lost power at interstate speed while driving. Engine light did come on, and I pulled to shoulder of road and waited a few minutes. Took vehicle to two different dealerships. "joe brooks" at douglas county Dodge at 770-942-1102 and vic daniel at landmark Dodge at 770-968-4900 or 678-251-2327. Both dealerships stated "out of warranty and would be $100 just to scan the system for errors". I took vehicle to autozone and had vehicle scanned for free. Received error code "u0404 code- invalid data received from gear shift control module". Seen recall d46 for 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee to reprogram pcm. I believe my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo has this issue. Called Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 at 1045 am on 7-6-2009 and spoke with "dan thomas". Dan looked up my VIN number and stated that "no recalls are for this vehicle and if a recall does come out, then a letter will be mailed to you".
Without warning while driving 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with crd (common rail diesel) engine with about 4,000 miles on odometer under light load in light traffic with about 3/4 tank of fuel on a hilly rural highway at about 50 mph the mil ("check engine light") turned on and within a second or so, if not simultaneously, the red error light indicating malfunction in the electronic throttle control system illuminated and began flashing. Driver immediately slowed to 30 to 35 mph, activated emergency flashers, and changed route to return vehicle home, at that point about a 15 mile trip on a combination of hilly rural highways and suburban arterial roads. About 10 miles later while climbing a hill in a blind curve on a rural highway with no shoulder in moderate traffic at about 35 mph the engine stalled bringing vehicle to halt. In the shoulderless blind curve there was neither visibility nor room for following traffic to pass, thus creating an extremely dangerous condition. Driver was able to restart vehicle but it then seemed to operate in "limp home mode" and did not seem able to move faster than about 20 to 25 mph before stalling again. Vehicle then stalled repeatedly in the last 5 or so miles back to home on hilly rural highway in moderate traffic, and restarting attempts became progressively more difficult. By the time vehicle was returned to owner's property the engine would not start except to run for a few seconds before shutting off, and vehicle having become completely undriveable then had to be pushed to a safe place to await tow to selling dealer for service. Driver contacted selling dealers service department to report problem, and service appointment and tow to selling dealer are pending.
I own a new 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I had for two weeks with approximately 500 miles on it. A couple of days after purchase I called the dealer to tell them that the engine service light was on. They said no to bring vehicle to dealer as it was probably due to a loose gas cap, and would go away in a couple of days. However, this week when driving on the highway at 70 mph the Jeep stalled. The fuel gauge dropped to empty from 3/4 full, and there was no acceleration on the vehicle. Fortunately I was able to coast to the far shoulder of the road. I took the key out and restarted the engine, and the full guage went back up to 3/4 full and I was able to resume driving. I brought it to the dealer and they were unable to replicate the problem. . . . They said the vehicle is fine. The reset the computer so the engine light went off. The next day after bringing it home from the dealer, the engine light came on again and I am bringing it back in next week. I have already contacted a lemon law attorney as I fully expect the problem to happen again. I saw an article that you were conducting an investigation on this problem, and wanted to add my name to the list as this stalling problem is extremely dangerous. I feel very fortunate that I did not crash after losing power at 70 mph on a crowded highway. Thank you for any help you can provide.
