The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v4380000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and all of the warning indicators flashed on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the median. The vehicle was able to restart after various attempts. The failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

2 Engine Failure problem

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When the key was turned to the on position, the engine failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the parts for repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

3 Engine Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2008

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving between 40-50 mph, the engine failed and stopped in the middle of the road without warning. The contact could not move to the shoulder of the road because the vehicle would not restart. The failure occurred at least three times. Once the vehicle was towed to the dealer, it started back up normally. The cause of the failure could not be determined. The failure mileage was 26,000.
