1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2018

Vehicle has randomly shut down completely while driving. Loss of power, power steering and brakes. Very dangerous. Took to dealer and left for a week for them to test and replicate and repair. They said they were unable to. This has happened 3 times. Each time, so far, I have been able to coast to a stop out of traffic, but I fear that it may happen in a less fortunate setting. It happened again today, just driving straight ahead down the road. Check engine light comes on and a red lighting bolt light also comes on over on the right side of the instrument panel.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2016

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact attempted to make a left turn and the vehicle shut down and the steering wheel locked up. The failure recurred several times. The check engine oil light illuminated. In each case, the vehicle restarted after a while. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed. The dealer replaced the solenoid and the harness, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in the recall associated with the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was 86,100.

3 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2015

Went to get in my car to go to work and it wouldn't start. I assumed it was just a battery. So I called aaa to jump me. He advised that your key should not wiggle when in the ignition. He was 90% sure that was the cause for my battery issue. He jumped me so I could get to the garage to have it tested to see if it was a battery or another issue because he didn't want to replace battery if that is the issue because it would drain it again. I went . 8 of a mile and was stopped in traffic and all the lights started flashing on the dash and it went dead. Called again to get jumped. I went 5 feet and it staled out again. He had me towed to dealership because he thinks it is part of the recall. Went to dealership, they couldn't give me a loaner and told me if part of recall it would take 3-4 weeks to get the part. I don't have another car. Next day called on it and eventually was advised that it was the ignition recall but I had to pay for the battery. I don't feel I should have to pay for that because it was drained because of the product recall. Next day- drove 15 miles and the check engine light came on. Took it back and the dealership doesn't know what is wrong. I didn't get the notice of recall until 08/24/15 at 3:00 in the mail. It was released in 2014, why am I just getting it now. I could have been killed in it because of this recall. If I would have been on the highway and it just stopped, I would have been killed. There is something majorly wrong with these Jeeps and the way people send out these recalls.

5 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2012

While driving the Jeep it dies, we could be driving on the highway at 55/60 miles per hour and the Jeep will die, we could be driving locally at 20 miles per hour and the Jeep just dies -- we have contacted Chrysler many times regarding the problem but nothing is done -- they keep asking us to pay for a diagnostic test but nothing shows up -- when the Jeep dies there is no indication that anything is wrong -- no check engine light comes on, just the rpm drops -- we are worried for the safety of our family that while driving on an highway and all of a sudden the Jeep dies that someone hits us from behind and causes a major accident or worse -- we have told Chrysler we would pay for any work that is not covered under the extended warranty as long as they can fix the problem -- after that statement they have not responded to any further correspondence.

7 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2008

I was driving my '08 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo and driving on an on-ramp today to get on the freeway going about 35mph, when all of the sudden I lost all of the electric in my Jeep. The radio went out, the odometer and temp/compass went blank, and I lost the power steering. Luckily I was able to steer it over to the side. I then turned it off and back on and there didn't seem to be any problems. I drove it another hour and half home and didn't have any other issues. No check engine light or warning lights came on at any time I took it to the Jeep dealer, however they claimed they could not find any issues.
