Dear sirs: two months ago I went to the local Jeep dealer (taraborelli, in bariloche, argentina) asking for 4 incomplete recalls. Two were completed but, in particular the number 57, the local dealer informed me that they asked mopar for spare parts (cdboh113 -680050499aa- and cbttp578aa and cbttp57laa) without any response from mopar. To my surprise the recalls appear now as "completed"! the dealer received my complaint and asked me to report the problem. They are waiting for the spare parts to complete recall repairing. What I'm expected to do about this problem?. Original recals were n11, n23, p57 and p73, those related with software were resolved but for p57 they required spare parts to mopar it is very important affecting the driving. I do appreciate your response ASAP. Thanks in advance [xxx] 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited, 3. 0 crd VIN [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The Jeep goes into limp mode and gets stuck in 2 gear I have replaced the shifter solenoid and still happens I have read about this happing to the same Jeep from 2005-2010 model and this is a safety issue that need to be recalled immediately. I was driving on the highway and the Jeep shifted into 2nd gear mind I was going the speed limit of 65 and it went down to 30 mph and it almost caused a pike up on the interstate.
I have not owner this vehicle for very long but while driving the engine will tune off! the engine isnt stalling it straight tunes off at low speeds or high speeds. It will tune off while accelerating almost like its miss firing. Most time the vehicle will recover on it own but ultimately will tune off. This is important becuase it dose this while on the highway, in traffic and it unsafe not to mention scary.
Will start or not start. Starter has been replaced. Alternator and battery test good. Believe it's electrical.
Dash started flashing and beeping and lost power. Had to have it towed home that cost$471. 30. Talked to mopar they gave me dealership information said they could get me a tow and loaner car. I called Jeep dealership in rapid city, sd they said they "wont come get it or give me a loaner car but the bring it by anytime this weak because they usually are not doing anything. "so now im and hour away with no way to work and no way to get Jeep to rapid because of first tow bill. . The malfunctioning part has been recalled on my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Jeep will completely turn off while driving at random times and at random speeds. This includes highway and local roads. More than once, while driving at high speeds on the highway, the car turned off and I had to coast to the shoulder, turn the ignition switch to off and restart the car. Car will also intermittently not accelerate above 40 mph. The car has been brought to more than one repair shop and no one can find anything wrong with it that would cause this dangerous situation.
Vehicle intermittently loses all power while driving, the cel and etc lights go on loss of power steering and power brakes. After engine is shut down and restarted the cel and etc remain on but car has power to drive. Often times after sitting off for period of time the lights may be off but car may shut down again after driving a short , sometimes long, distance. This is a known problem with the mercedes-benz 3. 0 crd engine in this model Jeep. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge the problem.
The ignition switch have problem sometime pup out by self. And air bag light it's on and beep to much.
The vehicle fails to start unexpectedly. The condition appears to be intermittant occurs without warning, and can result in serious and dangerous consequences for the motorist, should the inability to re-start the vehicle occur when located in a remote area where help is not available. There have been and continue to be complaints by owners of this vehicle and similar year Jeeps posted throughout the internet on related various forums. The general implication is that Chrysler is aware of the problem but for some reason is not able to offer a solution. This has caused undue burden on the consumer, in addition to costs associated with ineffective repairs whether performed by certified Chrysler dealer repair stations or independent repair entities. Stories of motorists being stranded and subjected to insecure situations or forced to leave their vehicles and finding alternative means of getting home or to a safe place are not uncommon. I urge the NHTSA to investigate how extensive this issue of failing Jeep ignition systems is, and to force Chrysler/fiat corporation to initiate a recall to fix this problem once and for all.
Takata recall plus electrical air bag code, key fob replacement and connection, trottle and hose. Broken back wiper arm.
My 2008 Grand Cherokee will not start at all. Dash light up but will not turn over. Battery in new. Starter tested and ok. Win recall was performed. 4wd software updates were performed. Over the past year the vehicle has had multiple no start/no crank issues. After few hours or days, it will turn over. Vehicles is always parked/not moving when this occurs. The dealer wants me to pay out of pocket for the tow for a diagnostic test. If the test does not show anything, I pay another $120 for the diag and have to pay for tow elsewhere. Jeep customer service is useless. I pay monthly payment and insurance for a driveway ornament.
I was traveling on montrose parkway in rockville, MD. I was traveling at about 45mph. I approached a slight bend to the left that had a slight decline. I lost control on debris that was left over from an accident earlier that morning. I struck and went over the curb with the right side of my vehicle. I went head on into a steel light post incased in a concert footer. The vehicle sustained very extensive damage to the front end. The airbags did not deploy during the collision. This is a very major concern to me because this could have turned out way worse, but I was very, very lucky to be able to only sustain bruising. This vehicle was a total loss.
For several months my vehicle has been shutting off while I am driving due to the key fob popping out of place. I went to the dealer in January 2015 and was told the part is not ready and to call for an update. I have called and been back several times only to be placed on a waiting list. I have been contacting them and getting the same response the part is not available. On 9/16/2015 while operating the vehicle I noticed the navigation/radio console start to pixilate and become inoperable then the console blacked out, after that the entire dash board lit up and I received several system warnings (service gauges, park assist disabled, check sensors, service suspension, my engine light and wipers came on, I was unable to signal, use my lights or turn off the wipers) all of this happened while I was driving. I made a right turn into the parking lot out of fear at this time I heard the key fob pop back and the car completely powered down and I was unable to break because the brakes locked up. The parking lot was semi-empty so I was able to maneuver until is rolled to a stop. I thought I was going to die. I need a resolution now, I still have two years worth of payments left and I want this problem resolved.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the on position, the engine did not start. The vehicle was towed to dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 78,000. The VIN was unavailable. Djr.
Key fob looses contact with ignition.
Chrysler has a recall for my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the ignition switch p57/NHTSA 14v-567. The part is not available to repair my vehicle and they do not have an estimated or actual date this part will be in. Chrysler refuses to accommodate the customers with a loaner vehicle. Why is Chrysler not accountable for my car troubles after the recall (which I never received a recall notice)? the government fined Chrysler 70 million dollars and will fine additional monies if the vehicles are not repaired. Why am I suffering and not being accommodated with a working vehicle when the billion dollar industry (Chrysler) has a mishap? my experience: - when vehicle ignition is turned off it only goes ½ the way, the key fob sticks and will not exit. This causes the radio clock light and the gear shift panel to stay lit, which in turn drains the battery. (had to purchase a jump start kit $70. 00 + tax) for when the battery is dead. -since, the key will not exit the ignition I must leave my work area at least twice a day (sometimes more) to check, if the key fob will come out. Once it took 11 hours before key would exit, after running the engine for over 3 hours. I am in jeopardy of losing my livelihood if this issue continues for much longer. It has been going on for months. The recall started November, 2014. How long will I suffer, because I don’t have money to purchase a different vehicle and why does this always affect the most unfortunate individuals like me. -there is a 90% chance that my vehicle will be stolen (since key is left in the ignition). I work in durham, nc on the week-end; I pray that I will be able to get back to raleigh if this happens. I cry most nights in fear of losing my jobs. Please, help me!!!!!!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x2. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system). However, the part to do the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the part to do the repair. The vehicle had not experienced the failure. Bd.
The vehicle has shut off randomly with key in on positon, once happening while driving. Dealer states there is no open recall on this and to remove key rings from keys. Only thing inserted at time of issue is key fob removed from emergency access key so not a key weight issue, driver is short so knee can not contact at all.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle seized without warning. The vehicle restarted. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000. Bd.
I purchased this vehicle on August 13, 2014 from dick scott Dodge used vehicle department. In January 2015, the car would not start and had to be towed to dick scott Dodge. The starter had to be replaced on the vehicle. Today, my vehicle would not start again and had to be towed yet again to dick scott Dodge for repair. There is a pending recall on this vehicle that cannot be completed at this time due to the parts not being available. I have been told that this model and year vehicle has been known to have faulty starter issues.
The vehicle failed to turn off as the key remained between the off and accessory position. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v567000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. This appears to be hazardous and needs to be addressed.
As I was about to exit the freeway onto exit ramp I heard a click and the vehicle just turned off. This is not the first time this has happened. Four times prior but at much lower speeds. . . . Parking lot speeds. I also seem to be having a problem at times when I start the vehicle. It just turns off. I have taken the vehicle in to the dealer twice and they have run all the diagnostics but have been unable to identify a problem.
I was notified of a recall dated 11/10/14, number 957 NHTSA 14v-567. I was advised the part required was not available. I have looked this recall up on your website and the status states that no remedy is available, seven months later! according to the recall notice, this could "increase the risk of crash under certain driving conditions", "this could increase the risk of vehicle occupant injury during a crash". Therefore, apparently I, occupants of my car, and others are in danger. I need to request immediate attention to this long overdue recall. Thank you, harry harrison.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that when he attempted to start the vehicle it would not start without warning. The contact stated that he discovered that the clip that connects the solenoid to the starter became detached. The contact had to push the clip back onto the solenoid to start the vehicle. The contact sustained burns to his hand that did not require medical attention. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the starter wiring harness and clip had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Sw.
Engine suddenly dies at highway speed. With great difficulty I managed to get to the brakdown lane. Car started right up. Second time similar has happened.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off. After pulling off the road and restarting the engine, the vehicle operated as normal. The contact indicated that the failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Driving on an onramp to the garden state parkway truck shut off and lost all power to motor. . Had to cost to side of highway and try to restart vehicle. . This put me in danger of not only causing a major highway crash leading to injury and death but also had to figure out what is still wrong with this truck. . The only way to start this vehicle is to come to a complete stop. . Put it into park. . . Remove the key fob . . . Re insert key fob and truck starts right back up. . . Since 2008 I have filled reports of this exact problem happening. . And no fix has come from Jeep or a recall forcing action of these Jeep Grand Cherokees. . In researching this problem I have found this has been a common problem in the Jeep Grand Cherokee line going back to 2007 and still you or Chrysler corporation has not taken action. Please my life as well as others driving on the road could be saved be a recall to address this very serious issue . . . I ask you will it take me death or the death of others to get a response from some one. Paul galea.
While driving the vehicle on the hwy all the interior lights on the dashboard flickered on, and then the car lost power. Has happened multiple times since the, and we havent driven it in 3 months. Chrysler sent us a recall notice last year, but still has not manufactured a part to replace this safety recall. Recall # p57 / NHTSA 14v-567. Since this problem started I have wasted time and money trying to have it repaired. . . . . And it keeps on happening. Jeep dealers should issue loaner cars, until they have a part to fix this.
Have had nothing but problems with this Jeep. Purchased it as a certified pre-owned and it has been in the dealer for service a substantial amount. Main issue is the car does not start when I turn the key fob. Have got towed to the dealership three times with this same issue, once in may 2014, again in July 2014 and again in September 2014. Dealer cannot find solution to fix. Coincidentally, I receive a notice from Chrysler in November 2014, notice number p57 which states there is a recall on the ignition! I went for (3) weeks in may and a full month in July with a loaner! four months after I receive the recall notice, the problem is not fixed. My ''ad hoc'' solution when car does not start is to slam the door with the key in the ignition position. This seems to start the car. Pitiful that this is how I must start the car now as there seems to be nothing else I can do. . .
While driving on the road normally no noises, vehicle went to a complete stop. I wouldn't start. We try starting it, dead starter and battery. Bought a new starter and new battery engine does not turn at all. Engine completely stiff. Went to the shop, we try to turn the engine by hand; completely stiff. The dealer in port au prince, haiti (safari motors) has many Jeep cherokee with the same issue they don't even know what to do and clients are frustrated, very disappointed with the dealer and also mopar of America. They will not help anyone with a known issue this vehicle has all around the world.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving at 35 mph, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000.
The vehicle has two chronic problems, the most severe of which is that it suddenly shifts into neutral while being driven, resulting in a sudden & dangerous loss of acceleration and maneuverability . Recovery action requires pulling off the road to shut off and re-start the engine. This problem has occurred at least twenty times, usually in damp or rainy weather conditions. Two different Jeep dealers have been unable to diagnose or fix the problem! one dealer thought replacing a module for about $900 would solve the issue but it did not. The other chronic problem is that the car sometimes will not start for no apparent reason!.
Vehicle engine suddenly stopped on hwy at 70 mph (this is the 3rd time it has happened in the last 9 months). I was able to get the vehicle off the hwy. It started up after coming to a stop. I took the vehicle into into the dealership and they informed me that they were aware of this problem (had worked on previous Grand Cherokees and even had the Chrysler engineers out to try and help them). They did inspections on my vehicle for 5 days and said they could not duplicate the problem or find anything out from the vehicle computer. They told me to contact Chrysler. I was eventually given to a case manager. They initially said they could not do anything and now they keep delaying getting back to me. This has been 2 weeks with no solution in sight. This is a major safety problem and the vehicle should not be driven without some fixes. I also have a 7 yr/100,000 mile platinum wraparound warranty that should cover whatever is wrong.
No 4x4 low ever since I had the n23 recall work performed to reprogram the final drive controller. Called Chrysler about it and the scheduled an appointment for me at a dealer. Dealer said the transfer case actuator motor is fried and needs to be replaced. They also said that the part is back ordered 6-8 weeks because so many people have had this problem after having the n23 recall work performed. Chrysler says that the issue is not related to the recall work and they will not cover the repair. I did some of my own research and there are 1000's of other people who ar having the same issue. I've given Chrysler many opportunities to address this issue but they refuse to do so.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the on position, the vehicle did not start. The contact stated that the key had to be turned to the off position then back to the on position in order for the vehicle to start. Once the vehicle was started it would not shift out of the part position unless the ignition was turned to the off position and back to the on position. The failure recurred continuously in cold weather. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Sg.
