For the past few weeks, my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been stalling while driving. The first time it happened, I was in a line of traffic, had just come a up a hill, I pressed the gas pedal, my car bucked, and then my car "stalled". Thankfully, we kept coasting, because, like I said, we were in a long line of traffic going 50 mph on a major road. I pulled over, shut my car off, turned it back on, and was able to drive us the two miles to get back home. I no longer feel safe driving my two children in my Grand Cherokee, therefore my husband has been driving my car and I've been driving his. So far this week, the Grand Cherokee has stalled six times while my husband is driving, usually while he is accelerating to get onto the highway. There is a recall on the Grand Cherokee; 19v-813, which describes a faulty fuel pump relay. However, there is no fix available through Jeep. We have contacted several authorized Jeep dealers in the our area and no one will offer any assistance that relates to the recall. I believe that the problem is not just the fuel pump relay, but the totally integrated power module or tipm. I'm having numerous other electrical problems with my Grand Cherokee, but none that pose such a safety hazard as the stalling. I have been reading other Grand Cherokee owner complaints, and many site this is the problem, stating that they have had their fuel pump relay fixed, but theur car is still stalling. My other car problems are as follows, which point to the tipm: while key fob in within vehicle, dash stating key isn't in car or fob is damaged, car turns on but shuts back off quickly on its own, the a/c only works on the passenger side of the car, the tire pressure light blinks constantly though pressure is fine, the "service 4 wheel drive" warning comes on while driving, but shuts off when car is turned off, and check engine light comes on and off.
When driving my vehicle I lost all engine power, I no longer had control of the vehicle. Luckily I was driving in a parking lot at the time and going at a relatively slow rate of speed so I was able to pull over and shut the car down. I tried to start the car again and it did start on it's own. The car continually stalls during start up and has now started to stall and shut down while driving. I brought it to an auto body shop where they informed me I had a faulty fuel pump which I then discovered was recalled by Jeep. When I tried to bring the Jeep to an authorized dealer to have it repaired they informed me that they did not have the part, it had not been made available to them. This was the same with 2 other dealerships I called. I also called the corporate number and was told the part was not yet available and they would not assist me with a rental or loaner vehicle while waiting for the part.
This complaint is in regards to safety recall v62 where the fuel pump relay causes a stall while the vehicle is in motion. My car has regularly been stalling whiling I'm driving in traffic for well over a year. I have been in touch with fca several times telling them of the risk I am in on a daily basis and asking about when parts will become available for this recall. It has been almost a year since the recall has come out with no progress. The stalling has almost caused several accidents and has put me in harms way every time I drive; I am constantly maneuvering to avoid a collision and the only reason an accident hasn't happened yet is because of how over defensive I have to be while operating the vehicle. Fca even tried doing a temporary fix but the car stalled within 24 hours of this attempt. I am very concerned for the safety of my family and others whenever I'm operating this vehicle. Note, below you asked for a date of when this happened; it happens almost daily for well over a year. I put today's date because this is the most current date that the vehicle stalled while I was driving in traffic and nearly missed being hit by a car coming up behind me at a very high rate of speed. I am still shaking from the near miss of being hit and seriously injured.
For the last month the vehicle has stalled while driving and in some cases would not start. I recently discovered that there is a safety recall v62 fuel pump relay problem in the model. I have been told that the fix for this problem will not be available until December. I use the car daily and for long trip and fear it is a safety hazard. Chrysler recommends bring the car in for a temporary fix which is worrisome.
2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a recall (fca# v62) NHTSA recall # 19v-813 for a fuel pump relay. Per the recall, failure of the relay can result in a stall and a no-start condition. Jeep (fca) does not have a fix for this problem and because of this my Jeep either will not start or stalls without warning. Jeep dealer and fca are not offering any resolution. What options does the consumer have in this case. Please advise.

Fca records indicate that your vehicle VIN # 1j4rs5gt8bc513586 was included in previous safety recall p54 (nhtsa14v-530) or safety recall r09 (NHTSA 15v-115). My 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is now experiencing the issues that are discussed in the safety recall v62 fuel pump relay failure. This safety concern can cause the vehicle to not start due to the fuel pump stoppage, an engine stall while stopped and/or while moving, which can cause the vehicle to crash without prior warning. This is a huge safety concern for my family and I. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership on 3 occasions concerning this issue with the fuel pump relay stoppage with no long term fixes. I have no one else to turn to and asking for your help to resolve this issue.
Safety recall for fuel pump relay that can cause engine to stall while driving v62/NHTSA 19v-813. Nhtsa #19v-813 reported in 11/2019. Complaint to Chrysler Jeep for no remedy as of June 2020.
When starting the car it won't turn on completely when you start you can her a noise near the fuel pump area this started about 2 months ago. When the engine was I complete parked and wanted to started wouldn't start after a couple tries would start without an issue, but today I have tried what I used to do and won't start, I've heard of a recall on this specific year but I have not received anything on the mail.
On 4/10/2020 I was idling in gear in a fast food drive-thru lane. I could hear and feel the engine start to sputter. I put the car into park and tried applying gas to keep the engine at a higher rev. After about a minute the engine stopped. I tried multiple times to get the vehicle to start but all it did was to have an extended crank time without it starting. I was able to get some help to push it out of the way of other vehicles. After about 5 minutes of sitting I was able to start it and drive it home. I have had multiple occurrences of this issue. The last time was while I was entering and turning in a busy intersection. Another time was while I was 25 miles down a dirt road. I have had the tipm and/or the fuel pump(s) replaced at a Jeep dealer at least three times. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle under any condition! I use it to tow my trailer and to go off-roading. What would happen if I was doing either one of these at the time of a failure!.
Vehicle is experiencing a no start condition due to the fuel pump relay failing. This is happening more and more resulting in dangerous conditions especially in freezing temperatures.
When applying brakes to slow down/come to a stop, the vehicle will sporadically stall. Everything electrical still works (radio, lights, stereo) and there are no warning lights that show up on the dash. The only way to know the vehicle has shut off is to either look at the tachometer and notice the needle is sitting on zero, or pressing the accelerator and the vehicle doesn't move. Once the vehicle has been shifted into neutral and the brakes are applied, the vehicle starts right up with a push of the start button. All previous recalls for the fuel pump relay have been performed as well as the latest v62 interim recall as recent as 3 days ago. Vehicle stalled again this morning while approaching a 4-way stop sign on the way to work.
Notified on 12-24-19 that: "fuel pump relay safety recall" "silicon contamination on the relay contacts may cause the relay to fail. This can result in a no-strt condition or an engine stall condition if the vehicle is running. A vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash with out prior waring. " six months after notification resolution still not available due to "parts not available. " one would think that Chrysler could solve a critical situation like this within a six month time frame! I have basically left the vehicle parked. Do not dare to drive in 5 or 500 miles.
Vehicle constantly stalls. Recall was performed for the fuel pump relay however this did not completely solve the problem as it still stalls randomly or won't start at all. Huge safety concern have been almost hit on the road from random stalls. Took it to my local mechanics and they say the fuel pump relay is burning out the fuses and I need to constantly check on them to make sure they're not burnt out. Took it to brookdale Chrysler Jeep Dodge after recall was performed to complain about it still stalling years ago. Brookdale Chrysler refused to perform any service as they could not duplicate the issue. Ever since then I've been dealing with this issue and it's horrifying to drive the vehicle sometimes and incredibly disappointed as I'm still paying off this vehicle. Randomly stalls on turns, city roads, highway speeds, or even when in idle.
While I am driving the car with my kids on the highway and suddenly the fuel pump failed due to relay failure and the car immediately stops in the middle of the highway also, sometimes the car no-start. I needed to terned the switch off for a few minutes and then it starts again. I went to the Jeep service center and they recognized and confirmed it as manufacturer recall number: v62 or (NHTSA recall number: 19v-813). They said they don't know how to solve it due to "remedy not yet available" and they actually don't see any open recall on their system by the company Jeep. I show them what safercar. Com says on the internet but they said they couldn't help due to lack of information and instructions from the manufacture and Jeep company. I call 1-800-853-1403 but the guy couldn't help me if I am currently out of the us. I also call 1-586-274-8176 of International service but no answer or assistance. I bought the car in the us and it is now with me during my stay in israel - the company service just doesn't have a remedy or solution or Jeep instructions on how to fix it. This is very unsafe to drive the car.
The vehicle has been at Jeep in excess of 45 days for repairs. On an intermittent basis I have experienced problems starting my Jeep. Then, on December 25, 2019, I receive the v62 fuel pump relay recall for my Jeep. I called the fca recall assistance center service number. They were of no assistance. Nhtsa: request #254540 complaint (tracking number) 11 29 23 50. On or about December 31, 2019, I filed a complaint with the NHTSA. On January 2, 2020, responded that fiat needed to be given time to find a fix. This was confirmed in a telephone call with NHTSA on January 3, 2020. The Jeep continued to have problems with not starting. On March 23, 2020, my housemate was driving the Jeep. He pressed on the accelerator. Nothing happened. He coasted to the breakdown lane and restart the vehicle. The lightning bolt symbol was on the dash. He decided to return home. A few minutes later the same thing happened again. We have not driven the Jeep again. On the morning of March 24, 2020, we had it towed to lithia Chrysler Jeep of reno. Lithia diagnosed it as having a faulty fuel pump relay subject to the safety recall v62 fuel pump relay. Fiat refused again to engage in any discussion of buyback. Fiat has had over three months and presumably several more months to develop a solution yet it has not. My Jeep sits in my driveway undrivable, a worthless piece of unsafe junk. There is no repair available. There are no like vehicles available (they all have the same problem). Under federal regulations, fca must buy-back my Jeep. I would like to have this federally mandated remedy implemented.
On an intermittent basis I have experienced problems starting my Jeep. Then, on December 25, 2019, I receive the v62 fuel pump relay recall for my Jeep, which provides as follows: our records indicate that your vehicle [1] was included in previous safety recall p54 (NHTSA 14v-530) or safety recall r09 (NHTSA 15v-115). The remedy for the previous recalls was to replace the fuel pump relay. If you had either of these recalls completed, the installed remedy relay is susceptible to silicon contamination on the relay contacts, which can cause the relay to fail. A fuel pump relay failure can result in a no-start condition or an engine stall condition if the vehicle is running. A vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. [] the remedy for this condition is not currently available. This was of great concern. In the 1980s I was driving on the congested freeways of la when my BMW suddenly just turned off. I barely managed to coast to the breakdown lane without being rear ended. I was in terror as I had just been rear-ended a year prior while at a complete stop on the freeway. To this day I have pain in my shoulder, and two pinched nerves in my neck. So, I called the fca recall assistance center service number. Given that there is currently no remedy, and that vehicle engine stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning, I was going to ask for a rental vehicle. However, the service agent insisted that I first had to take my Jeep to my local dealer to diagnose and confirm the existence of a problem. That is patently ridiculous as the problem can not exist and then, according to the recall notice, arise for the first time and cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. In fact, that first time could be on the way to my local dealer.
The safety recall re the defective fuel pump is a serious safety issue, vehicle stalling at any speed without warning. The recall was issued several months ago and the manufacturer still has not been able to correct the issue, nor given a time when the parts are available.
I previously reported that this 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (3. 6 pentastar engine) stalls without warning. The vehicle has stalled at least twice in August, numerous times in September, and already twice this month (October). What is more concerning is there is no check engine light the warns of the pending stall condition. Also, I have had the thermostat, lifters, tappets, rocker arms, cylinder head, spark plugs, and ignition coils replaced and problem seems to be getting worse. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons tysons corner). The dealer cannot read any active or stored codes for the stalling issue. Additionally, the shop foreman advised that it appeared to be the fuel pump. I ordered the $540. 00 fuel pump and had replaced on Monday October 7, 2019 for an additional $630. 00. Ironically enough, the vehicle stalled going home and the fuel pump repair did not fix the issue. The mechanic and service advisor now say that I should replace the pcm and then the tipum if all else fails. This is an additional $3,000. 00 in estimated service that they cannot guarantee that will fix the issue. The most concerning thing is that Chrysler will not be held accountable for this. I have also filed a complaint with fca, whom initially just closed the case. I then filed another one today and requested to speak with a case manager, which is pending (no faith at this point). It should also be noted that fca is aware of this issue as addressed in the recall: Chrysler is recalling 188,723 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee suvs in the u. S. Because of a defective fuel-pump relay inside the power module that can cause the vehicles to "stall without warning. ".
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated and raved, while driving about 5 mph without warning. The vehicle was not driven for three months due to the failure which recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the blevins seaway motors dealer (315-764-0283, located at 98 center st, massena, NY 13662) where the technician diagnosed and replaced the clam shaft sensor. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the main fuel pump assembly. The failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v813000 (electrical system) the contact called the manufacturer and was told that there was an interim fix. The contact was provided case number: 71702932. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who performed the interim fix at the owners expense and told the contact to send receipts to the manufacturer for reimbursement. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided a case 71664667. The failure mileage was 60,500. Fe.
3 times in the last 9 months this car has stalled while braking causing me to lose power steering and almost causing a crash on one occasion. Luckily the first time I was on a straight road but the last two times happened 9/26/19 where I had to brake while turning and on this occasion I almost crashed the car into a median. Each time I've taken the car to the Jeep dealer soon after for an inspection and each time I'm told there is nothing wrong with the car, no diagnostic codes are visible and their road tests do not reproduce the issue. The first time this happened to me, the dealer did however replace the fuel pump relay (I think as part of some recall) but did not indicate this was the specific reason for my car stalling. This repair seemed to solve the issue until 9/26/19 when it happened twice consecutively. I fear this is related to the countless other complaints online about this year and model. I asked the dealer if it's perhaps related to all the tipm issues I've read about with this year and model and they said without a diagnostic codes or without reproducing the issue there is no way to tell. I'm told there is nothing wrong with this car. How can that be when I've lost control of it 3 times in the last 9 months and almost crashed it once? I fear that this car is unreliable and may kill me or someone else but I'm being told it's fine. I'd really love someone to look into this or give me guidance.
The car was in the shop twice to rectify a fuel pump issue. As of right now, the check engine light is still on and the error continues to be the fuel pump. There was a second recall in November 2019 with no solution. The car failed to start multiple times due to the fuel pump and I feel unsafe driving the car with a history of fuel pump error since the car could stall mid driving.
I have a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland. It was subject to a recall (p54) which was for a faulty fuel pump relay. The faulty fuel pump relay would cause the Jeep to loose all power which, in turn, caused a loss of power to steering and braking making the care extremely dangerous if driving when the fuel pump relay failed. I had the recall completed, but in 2019 the very same problem started again. I called Jeep and they said to take the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealer and if they verified the fuel pump relay was faulty they would pay for repairs. I did that and actually called Jeep when to notify when I took the car in. The Jeep dealer verified the fuel pump relay was fault again and replaced. But, Jeep failed to pay and I had to. They have not refunded the cost to me. Jeep has replaced a faulty fuel pump relay with exactly the same thing, a faulty fuel pump relay, exposing motorists to extreme danger. If you are driving down the highway, in traffic and you loose steering and braking serious injury or death could be involved. Jeep knew what it was doing in replacing a faulty part with exactly the same faulty part in the recall.
The fuel pump relay is defective. This has already been recalled but the patch "fix" Jeep does does not solve the problem completely and they know this. There is an issue with the computer which does not send correct signal to fuel pump. On start car will not start often because it is not receiving any fuel. I am afraid this cheap "fix" Jeep came up with will cause the fuel to go out while driving. The biggest defect with the car is the v-8 hemi cam shaft and lifters. Every mechanic I have taken my car too has said that Jeep knows it is a problem but will not fix. I was driving 70 mph when my Jeep lost power and the check engine light came on and started flashing which with the loss of power cause me to just about have a wreck on the highway. It was a very scary scenario. I took it to my trusted mechanic who foudn a cylinder 2 misfire & performed a tune up and he said I needed to report the problem to Jeep as they are known to have sever problems. The dealer charged me to "diganose" the problem and reported back that the lifters and cam shaft need to be replaced. This has been such a bad problem for Jeep the lifters have been on back order multiple times but they will not admit it is a problem. My car has less than 100,000 miles and has been meticulously maintained and now lookin g at rebuilding an engine and Jeep will only provide 2 year warranty or the work, which shows they have no trust in the fix and there is a fatal flaw with the v-8 hemi. Please force Jeep to honor their customers and correct the known mistakes with their engines.
Fuel pump relay recall- I purchased the used car in may 2018, nothing about the recalls was disclose. Recently the car has been shut down or rumbling as I'm driving. Thankfully I'm driving in the city and I can pull to the side. Every time I shake the fuel pump relay repair it starts up strong again. I tried taking into the dealership where it was fixed but they said they can't do anything cause they already fix the problem. The problem wasn't fixed. It was cheaply fixed.
The push start won't start the vehicle and vehicle stalls. I brought it to firestone and they said it was the fuel pump and gave me a quote of the cost to fix it.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While approaching a stop sign, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the brake pedal was difficult to depress. In addition, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal to the floorboard, but the vehicle seized and the engine shut off. The contact stated that all the indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel, but the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was placed into park and the vehicle started when the push start button was depressed. The vehicle was taken to lithia Chrysler Jeep of reno (located at 3223 mill st, reno, nv 89502) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 102,544.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While the contact was driving and attempting to make a turn, the engine completely failed without warning. The vehicle was towed to orr Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (900 truman baker dr, searcy, ar 72143, (501) 279-3311) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay was faulty. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred at the same intersection. The dealer was contacted again and could not determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Jeep was parked in driveway. Went to start up and Jeep intermittently starts & then cuts off or will not start at all. Now being serviced at dealership. Luckily, I was not driving on the highway at the time of the occurrence. However, had to have the vehicle towed to dealership. The symptoms appear to be the same as your fuel pump relay recall back in 2014 for 2011 Jeep/grand cherokee. However, I have been the sole owner of this vehicle and never received a recall notification. Is this still covered under the recall?.
The leather covering on the dashboard shrank, crumpled and wrinkled popping the air vent coverings out. The problem not only restricts air flow (defrosting, etc) it also may prevent the deployment of airbags. It looks horrible and decreases the value of my car, but it presents safety issues. The company has acknowledged the problem and approved my vehicle for repair, but they have also restricted the number or repair kits available and I have been waiting for months and am told it could be months more. They will not give a date. This was a manufacturing defect. I need it to be fixed and they have deliberately restricted the number of parts available to customers with defective automobiles. In addition, my vehicle has a fuel pump relay recall. This part has also not been available for months and has no predicted delivery date. I don't believe it is acceptable to acknowledge the issues, then deliberately slow production of the parts required for repairs. Both the dealership and fca customer service say that there is nothing they can do for me. Obviously this issue needs to be addressed at a higher level, but there is not an option for that in the phone tree. I need my car fixed.
My vehicle is now regularly (at least once a week and at random) stalling while in motion when I begin to brake at any given speed. It cuts off in motion and loses all power steering; I literally have to muscle the car off the road (almost caused multiple accidents) and have to restart it. I have now been experiencing this problem for over a year. There was a prior recall for a fuel pump relay where random stalling can occur but that recall part has already been installed. I have taken to certified Jeep dealership who has said there is nothing that can be done since they have not been able to recreate the issue. I just contacted the Jeep corporate office as a last resort and they also said they can do nothing to help or give me any advice on how to correct issue (thanks for your concern. . . ); instead they gave me a disclaimer that they would not be responsible. I cannot believe that a company would operate like this and offer no assistance or advice with a vehicle they built that is clearly malfunctioning and potentially causing an accident and/or injury.
My vehicle have been shutting off on me numerous times while I'm driving mostly when I come off the highways few times when I first start it in the morning and recently it shut down and completely died and wouldn't start back up. The battery compartment was full of water and the fuel pump doesn't cut off. I had the alternator and battery replaced thinking that's why it died but it's still not running. I've only had this vehicle for a month.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph the vehicle suddenly stalled in the middle of an intersection. The contact indicated that the failure had occur on a previous occasion also. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer river oaks Chrysler located at 17225 torrence Ave, lansing IL. Who diagnosed that the fuel pump and fuel pump relay were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle had been service previously under the NHTSA recall campaign number 14v530000(electrical system). The contact indicated that the vehcile had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 122,435. Jft.
Vehicle stalled while driving in highway traffic at about 40 mph. Lost ability to steer as power steering quit working. There is a year-old recall to fix fuel pump relay problems but fca, the manufacturer, has yet to provide dealers with the parts needed to fix this problem. This is totally unacceptable as we have continued to drive this vehicle since we do not have, nor can we afford, another vehicle. Please pressure fca/Jeep to provide parts to dealers immediately. Recall # v62/NHTSA 19v-813.
My car does not start at least 10 times a week, I believe its due to a faulty fuel pump relay and my VIN isnt part of the recall for this and it should be. Ive read many other people complaining of the same exact issue and I took it to fairfield Jeep where they told me one thing over the phone and then upon arrival it was something different and then the papers stated something else different!.
