I dropped of my 2013 Jeep grand cherockee to a mechanic to inspect for an oil leak. The oil filter housing was found to be cracked which was causing the leak. The mechanic stated he had replaced more of these housing because they are plastic and were made to thin so when the oil filter or cover is tightened down after having the oil changed, the housing cracks. After contacting a dealer about this issue the dealer stated there were approximately 60,000 reports of this issue across the country. The part is on back order and wouldn't be in anytime soon. I contact Chrysler/Jeep warranty and there response was they completed an investigation but no recall has been issued yet. They were working on getting parts in a timely fashion. If there are 60,000 problems of this type reported for this engine, why isn't there a recall.
