Z46/NHTSA 22v-406. High pressure fuel pump. I received multiple recall notices for this defect. I received the first notice in June of 2022. Today it is Jan 2024, 19 months after being notified to have repairs made. The Jeep dealer has, for 19 months, told me they cannot a make the repair. The recall notice states "fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning". I believe 19 months exceeds the requirement to "remedy the defect within a reasonable time" is there anything being done to motivate Jeep to remedy the defect? thank you for your time.
My vehicle has 2 recalls on faulty parts that can cause catastrophic failure. There are no replacement parts or repairs available to owners of these cars. Fca us should have offered loaner vehicles to owners a long time ago. Instead, they indicate that they will give loaner cars once the Grand Cherokee breaks down or crashes as a result of the faulty parts. This is not acceptable. I now have a vehicle that I paid over $47,000 for that is useless and worthless - I cannot drive it knowing it could have an "unexpected loss of motive power" and I cannot sell it with 2 serious unrepairable recalls. Fca us needs to be forced to offer loaner vehicles or buy these Grand Cherokees back from owners at a fair price.
Power steering, engine acceleration, coolant/radiator, belts, eco diesel system, blind side detectors and automatic emergency breaking have all been major issues with this Jeep. I've almost been crashed into by other vehicles, including an 18 wheeler, because of the engine instability. It is now in the repair shop and completely unable to drive.
I was driving to pull up and park and my gas petal stuck . It went forward and stuck between a pole and a tree. I am very shook up over this as something like this should never happen.
Their is oil being introduced into the coolant reservoirs. Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel. The vehicle are having failed oil coolers that stemmed from the failed egr coolers. The driving of these vehicles for over a year awaiting a fix has caused the engines to have other failures. There has been over 10 recalls on these ecodiesels since I bought the Jeep brand new in 2014. They made a deal with the epa lawsuit and did a software patch which changed the engine function issues, they did a patch on the power train control module, transmission control module, and apparently the ecm engine control module. I’ve had nothing but “check engine” light codes in since the first patch in 2016 that they didn’t put in the records, I have the work order showing the patch. In 2019 the lawsuit the epa approved for them, allowed them to place a new patch that caused other components to continue to malfunction like the” high pressure fuel pump now. The dealerships are saying the failures aren’t due to their negligence and are causing consumers to deal with costly repairs that’s not their faults. I got a bill for $29,000 for a new engine, they said my Jeep was under extended warranty but don’t want to help foot the repairs. Also stated they would reimburse recall work that customers paid for prior to recalls coming out within 60 days, but it has taken me over 4 years to try and get reimbursed. My car is at the dealership now and has been down since April 29, 2022.
The problem with my vehicle is with emissions system which was covered under the ecodiesel extended warranty lawsuit the epa filed against the manufacturer stellantis. My Jeep has been down at crystler Dodge Jeep ram dealerships for 2 years. The extended warranty states they would repair problems, but they have not. I was told today that they will only give me 8741 for my car but they want to keep it. I’ve had to go to the hospital twice from the first dealership that had my car for a whole year giving me carbon monoxide poisoning. I’ve been paying full coverage insurance for 2 years. This manufacturer has placed and is placing me in a hardship. They said they would/ coukd repair my car and stayed in writing they would have certified techs working on my car, they had the parts manager working on my car and almost killed me. Now, their leadership is trying to bully me into selling them my car for this low ball amount. Why didn’t they offer to buyback before putting me through 2 years of hell. Is it leah’s to breach a binding legal contract they agreed to honor. I am aware they are to suffer penalties for not honoring the warranty, and for not keeping databases updated by VIN. I was told my parts weren’t covered for months, I had to constantly show them the warranty said the parts were covered they trying to charge me for. I want my vehicle fixed under the extended warranty. I want compensation for this excessive time, and for them not honoring the consent decree they told the epa and NHTSA they would honor. Please help me get my vehicle fixed under my extended warranty. My car is covered til 199,189 miles or may 13, 2024. I really need help, the manufacturer is not adhering to the consent decree they promised the government and NHTSA they would.
While traveling with 2 small children on the highway a very strong burning smell starting coming through the ventilation system along with a small amount of smoke. Immediately exited the highway and left the vehicle overnight. Upon returning to the vehicle the next day, a large amount of liquid (oil) was leaked out under the vehicle as well as oil all over the components underneath the vehicle. Took vehicle to nearest mechanic and without even inspecting it, the mechanic (non dealership) stated it was likely the oil filter housing as he had replaced a # of these in recent memory due to the plastic melting and/or cracking. The mechanic confirmed the next day that this was in deed the issue and the oil filter housing had to be replaced due to mine being cracked. There appears to be thousands of these cases reported to NHTSA, yet the manufacturer is yet to recall this, which is a significant safety hazzard. Allowing a manufacturer to use a piece of plastic that is known to fail, to store and/or transfer a highly flammable liquid such as oil is a tragedy in the making. Oil leaking onto the engine and other components of the vehicle can cause a fire without the vehicle occupants knowing anything about it. If the manufacturer is unwilling to proactively recall this flawed part, then the NHTSA needs to step in and force a recall before a vehicle catches fire and there is a loss of life.
Recall #22v-406 has not been replaced the part has been failing for the last 2. 5 years. The stalling situation is getting worse. It does not come to a complete stall at least not while in traffic but it will start to stall and cough and sputter while under power at residential speed of 30-35 mph, city driving of 40 -50 mph, and at highway speeds of 70-75 mph. It is increasingly getting worse. We have taken the vehicle to multiple dealers only to be told that the needed repair has still not been developed yet. (the repair is to replace the hpfp before my wife and grandkids get ran over on the highway or coming out of the local grocery stores parking lot). The problem has been identified and the repair to the problem has been realized, but the manufacturer will not commit to the repair. How many people will have to be maimed or die because of this. Yes the problem has been reproduced and the manufacturer and the dealerships are aware of it. One service manager reported to us that he has a new truck on their lot that can not be sold because of this very issue. There is no mil code for the decaying of the fuel system rail. Other codes can be thrown as a result but here is no standard code for it.
Fuel pump failed. Electric control module/system failed. I have been having these problems since 2021. When it first started my car stalled out, completely died, and started rolling (even though I was pressing the brakes) - I had to pull my e brake and luckily stopped an inch away from hitting the car in front of me coming to a stop because the light turned red. My entire car shut down. I had to get a tow. I took it in to a shop and they had no idea really what happened or what it was. They told me a bunch of stuff was bad (thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff) and I ended up only getting whatever was absolutely necessary which was the fuel pump and battery. $1300 later it was driving at least. Ever since then my gas gauge has never been accurate and just goes up and down randomly. I have to track my gas by resetting the miles of my “total trip” when I fill up. My dashboard constantly went on and off and I never knew what was accurate and what wasn’t. About 6 months ago my dashboard went completely black and hasn’t came on since. My car is now barley taking over 4 gallons of gas at a time before the auto stop on the pump cuts off. If I try refilling anyways gas overflows. This makes absolutely no sense. I can’t see how fast im going, hear my blinkers go on and off, see how much gas I have, how many miles are on my car, any check engine lights, and now I can’t drive over 75 miles without having to “fill up” my measly 4 gallons again before the pump shuts off. I was never notified of any recalls but there is absolutely no way my car is excluded from them. The electronic control module is fried, I can’t even get gas, and a brand new battery and fuel pump was clearly just a miniature band aid on this disaster chain of problems. I’ve only had this Jeep for like 5 years too and what it’s worth is not even worth a fourth of the cost it would be to fix all of this.
A serious safety problem when fill the SUV with gas that can cause a fire with the SUV & the filling station. Gas just flows out of the filling port before the nozzle shuts off. This has happen 3 times at different stations. Taken it to the dealer. I’m not the only with this problem. A recall is needed!!.
The oil cooler filer housing is leaking, the part is on back order for up to two months, with over 50,000 vehicles in the country needing the same part replaced. Without that part replaced, it could cause extensive engine damage.
Vehicle cranks, but does not start. Vehicles acts like it does not have gas while driving. It does not accelerate or decelerates while driving like it's about to stall. Issues are similar to the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee recall.
The oil filter housing is cracked and it is a known issue with my vehicle. One morning there was a large amount of oil under my vehicle. At this time there are so many open issues with this defected part that I am unable to get this part cause there are 5800 people in line before me waiting for this part. I am unsure where to start to have this recalled but I would like to move in the direction of having that done. Please help! I need to have this done? I read online that there was a possible petition started for this very issue.
Egr failure, egr is the same that is in the rams that has been recall for more than two years. Parts are not available for the Jeeps, but are the same egrs that go on the rams. Egr is failing on these vehicles are creating engine fires with no warning.
The air bag in the driver side headrest went off and the headrest is unable to reset. The def line and injectors went bad and I cannot drive my vehicle.
We have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee ecodiesel 3. 0 which is part of the overall class action lawsuit with the epa and carb. We went through the process, received the software update & remuneration for the loss in value on the vehicle from fca. Fca clearly indicated in its literature regarding the settlement that the performance, mileage, adblue/bluedef usage, etc. Would not be affected (see attached information showing the emissions software update) however, our experience has been quite the opposite as I understand is common place after the upgrade. Fca did not adequately represent the major performance changes that were to be expected by the emissions software update & downplayed any issues. The main issues that we have encountered since the update include: 1. The check engine light coming on 3-4 times; 2. A major and dangerous hesitation/lag of the vehicle when you start it & attempt to accelerate-especially when the vehicle has been sitting for a period of time. 3. A highway mileage decrease from an average of 27-28mpg to 19-21mpg; 4. Significant increase in the use of blue-def; we have had to take the Jeep in for service to check the check engine light several times & it is again in the shop yesterday/today for the same issues. At this point, we believe that fca did not correctly represent & repair the ecodiesel 3. 0 engine in our Jeep Grand Cherokee & as a result of the upgrade, our performance has greatly diminished and we have suffered with a non-performing vehicle. We ask that NHTSA lodge a formal complaint on our behalf and be made aware of the continued issues with the vehicles & the misrepresentation of the performance issues.
When car is in motion, car runs rough, hesitates, sometimes brakes are slow to react. When stationary circuits short for remote start, outlets and operating back lift. P0013 code is on this vehicle. This vehicle is demonstrating the same functions as those other Jeep vehicles that were recalled.
The right side cylinder head required to be replaced and oil pump.
On a cold start or after leaving the vehicle off for some time & try to crank it or start it back up, it cranks for a long period of time and does not start. It will not start until the second time of a start up almost if fuel was not getting delivered.
I have a 2014 ecodiseal since I bought it has had problem after problem. I thought of I settled and had the emission update then it would get better but I was wrong my Jeep has had issues after issue. Lag to no power. Check engine light after check engine light. I have had it in the shop numerous times. Jeep is no help at all. I've had to pay out of pocket each time to have it fixed. A different problem each time but the same issue that brought me in the first time. My Jeep will not go over 35 mph at times. Sometimes the power is so bad that it will not go up a hill.
Oil filter housing assembly keeps breaking and leaking. Wont hold oil anymore. 3 times it has done it.
I own this vehicle for over 5 years, and my wife just doesn't want to drive it with the kids because of the strong smell of diesel and diesel exhaust fluid inside the cabin it's just make you want to trow up and gives you headaches.
Vehicle overheated - manifold / egr had to be replaced due to severe soot build up. Engine compartment was smoking and coolant empty when vehicle overheated. Vehicle is a fire risk.
When stopped and parked at the local gas station the plastic fuel filler cap broke off during fueling causing the gas nozzle to fall out. Now check engine light is on. Jeep has since corrected this plastic part on newer models with metal. Cost of part alone is $650. 00.
Fiat Chrysler automobiles (fca) issued a recall for the ram 1500 ecodiesel, model year 2014-2019, for potential fires. Their recall states that the emissions gas re-circulation (egr) cooler can develop cracks and there is risk of an engine fire and potential for injury resulting. Fca goes on to state that injuries have occurred as a result of this particular engineering or manufacturing fault. My vehicle, the 2014 Grand Cherokee, was purchased with the optional 3. 0l v6 turbodiesel engine, the "ecodiesel. " this is the identical engine to the ram and possess the same egr and egr cooler, as well as the same intake manifold, which is where the fires have seemingly occurred. The Jeep Grand Cherokees, model years 2014-2016, that utilize the optional ecodiesel engine were not named in the same recall, nor in any subsequent recalls from fca, and the risk of fire should be identical between the two vehicles. I am only assuming that the reason the Grand Cherokee was excluded, was because it was sold far less frequently with the ecodiesel engine option. If the ram 1500 was recalled for a fire and injury risk, the Jeep Grand Cherokee that's powered by the same engine (and the same fire risk) should also be included under the same recall. It's concerning that a manufacturer admits significant health and safety risks due to a particular engine, but only includes one model that utilizes this engine. I do understand that this was a voluntary recall, but I believe that both vehicle models should be included under this recall, since it relates to the engine, not the specific vehicle utilizing it.
My 2014 eco-diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee had an emissions recall, I am the 2nd owner. I found out about the recall when my car wouldn't run at normal speed, often I had to do the regeneration fuel cleaning. I had often notice diesel fumes in the cab. I had the recall work done at gresham Jeep. Soon after the check engine light came on. Oct 16 lithia Jeep of portland worked on my Jeep. I had been feeling ill for a while, burning eyes, exhausted & sick. Oct 28 I became very ill while driving my Jeep, I took my vehicle to lithia motors and ended up in the e. R. With carbon monoxide poisoning. Its been difficult getting lithia Jeep to fix my vehicle. If this has anything to do with the recall or is another issue I want this reported. I hope no one else gets sick or dies from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Fuel line issues, repaired then catalytic converter not working. Somewhere leaking oil. I have read this model is known for emissions, fuel line, catalytic converter issues.
Vehicle overheated and spewed all coolant. Several dealer visits, replaced egr, manifold, cylinder heads, hoses, thermostat etc. One occasion fuel was dripping into the engine compartment after repair and the engine compartment was smoking. Another occasion the manifold was smoking. It's only a matter of time before one catches fire. These are suvs used to haul families.
The vehicle lost partial power while traveling on the highway at approximately 65mph and became difficult to control creating an extremely dangerous situation. There were no symptoms or other indicators prior to power loss. The vehicle is well maintained, 5-years old and has approximately 85,000 miles. Initial diagnosis by independent indicated the number 3 cylinder lost compression which should not have occurred on a vehicle in this good of condition but was a problem common in Jeeps and Chrysler is well aware of the problem. The vehicle was moved to Jeep dealer for further diagnosis and repair.
Engine shuddered and stopped while in park. Tried to restart, but would not start (electrical was fine). Had it towed and fuel injector replaced. Drove for approximately 75 miles and acceleration ceased on busy highway at 70mph. When able to pull over and stop, would not go into park (even though shifter indicated that it was in park). Dashboard indicated that my speed was too high to shift (I do not recall the full message) and it began to roll backwards into traffic. I turned it off and it stopped rolling. Tow truck said he had difficulty putting it in neutral. Prior to failure to accelerate, there was a heavy rumbling sound when gas pedal pushed; then it sounded like small parts were falling off of the engine; then grinding sound but no acceleration. I saw a brief message about 4wheel drive, but was trying to get to safety, so I do not know what it said. I had a passenger and toddler in the car. Frightening!.
After the emissions recall, my Jeep has dangerous lag on acceleration. You press the gas pedal and there is a 3-5 second delay before anything happens. Very dangerous when pulling out of my driveway etc. Additionally the fuel economy has decreased substantially. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Thanks, mike.
Can not fuel vehicle - nozzle keeps clicking off. We got stuck in gas station out off gas because of this on going problem. Never ending problem !.
Our dealership completed epa and carb emissions recall v08 for 3. 0l diesel emissions on 20 may 2019. Mileage out was 63,819. 200 miles later, we started the vehicle as normal. Less than a mile later, as we started to accelerate onto the highway, the check engine light came on and our vehicle's information center displayed two separate diesel exhaust fluid (def) related warnings. The first saying def needed service/contact the dealership, while the second warning said we could not restart the vehicle after driving another 200 miles. We immediately found a safe spot to pull over and called the dealership. The acting service manager advised us that it was safe to drive the vehicle to the dealership as long as there were no obvious performance issues. He said it was probably emission related, that we would be ok if we didn't drive over 200 miles. He said going over 200 miles might abruptly put the vehicle into a "limp mode"! we were 150 miles away from the dealership but the vehicle was otherwise operating normally, so we took the service manager's advice and drove to the dealership. Our Jeep is an off-road, trail-rated, go anywhere vehicle designed to be used out in the wilderness/national parks as well as on the highway. It is an unacceptable safety hazard for the vehicle's computer to have control over starting because of an emission violation/problem. Especially when in a remote location where a reliable vehicle is paramount to safety. Moreover, there is significant potential for a serious crash if the vehicle abruptly goes into a "limp mode" either out on the highway or at a stop light. To date, our dealership has not found a solution to the check engine light nor the def warnings. They are keeping our vehicle and working with fiat/Chrysler automotive (fca) representatives and engineers on a solution.
We have had problems with our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 2 years with some delay in acceleration when at complete stop and then lurching forward. Our alternator is now needing to be replaced and is not on the recall list for 2014 Jeeps with defective alternator. Ours clearly has a defective alternator.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the diesel exhaust filter full warning light illuminated and the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to fremont Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (39639 balentine dr, newark, CA 94560, (510) 656-8700) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the throttle body needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the throttle body was updated four times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
