1 Starter problem

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while taking off from a stop the vehicle briefly began to accelerate but then suddenly lost all motive power. The contact was stuck in the middle of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. The contact stated that when attempting to start the vehicle she heard an audible clicking sound emanating from the engine compartment. The ess (engine stop start) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the ess (engine stop start) system resulting in damage to the auxiliary battery and engine starter. The contact was informed that the auxiliary battery had a damaged cell and that the engine starter had a short. The vehicle was not repaired but parts had been ordered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
