Vehicle previously brought to dealership for recall and reported issue where vehicle abruptly stops/brakes without cause. Dealer did not resolve. On 3/16/26 vehicle came to a complete stop in roadway, shifted into park, and could not be moved into drive, neutral, or reverse. Driver was stranded in a dangerous situation with infant in vehicle. Dealer unable to inspect for weeks and refused loaner. This presents a serious safety hazard.

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (italian). Coinciding with the switch to italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. All change, and many other random settings change as well. ***this is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the fca off lamp). I have had this to the dealership 4 times to be fixed without success. Because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly.

While reversing on a snowy day the wheels proceeded to spin when the reverse sensors activated the brake system which resulted in damage to the rotor and breaks in the brake caliper resulting in tire failure and then suspension damage.

I had just got in and started my Jeep and noticed the abs light and brake light was on, so I went straight to the dealer and the abs had an internal failure and has to be replaced.
This complaint is being filed as an update to prior NHTSA complaints regarding the same vehicle and recall 78c. The issues described below remain unresolved. My vehicle is subject to recall 78c, which warns of a defect that may result in catastrophic engine failure due to an engine block casting issue. The recall was issued approximately 90 days ago, and the status remains listed as “remedy under development,” with no repair available and no timeline provided. Since the recall was issued, I have contacted stellantis three separate times in writing requesting: confirmation whether the vehicle is considered safe to operate while the recall remains open, and transportation accommodation while no remedy exists. None of these emails have received a response. I also contacted two authorized Jeep dealerships seeking transportation assistance. Both initially stated they do not provide loaner vehicles and are not required to follow corporate directives. Both later stated loaner vehicles do exist but were unavailable and subject to a waitlist; however, neither dealership took my information or placed me on a waitlist, nor provided any follow-up. No meaningful transportation accommodation has been provided. I have been advised only that rental reimbursement may be available, which does not prevent continued operation of the vehicle. As a result, I am being forced to continue driving a vehicle under an active safety recall that explicitly warns of possible catastrophic engine failure, without a remedy, without a timeline, and without alternative transportation. This complaint is submitted to document the prolonged lack of a remedy, manufacturer non-response to repeated safety inquiries, failure to provide interim accommodation, and continued requirement that I operate the recalled vehicle.
The electronic steering quit working at 55 mph, I was very hard to steer afterwards, there wear other indicator lights besides the steering warning light, I will add a picture of them. I did already do a report but have pictures to show the problem. I kept the core to figure out what happened, there is water in the unit control area for the motor. The issue started at the same time the water pump was leaking, and I believe that caused the water and corrosion in the electronic area. I also have another invoice for the diagnosis from the hudson dealer for about 600 dollars but mislaid it, if I need it I can get a duplicate.
Since shortly after taking delivery of my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, I have repeatedly experienced intermittent safety-related malfunctions involving sudden steering stiffness and braking intervention. From early in ownership, the vehicle would unexpectedly engage what I later learned is the automatic emergency braking (aeb) system. During these events, the steering would feel locked or restricted and the brakes would apply without driver input. In order to restore normal operation, I was required to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it. These concerns were reported multiple times to the dealership over the course of ownership. On January 13, 2026, while traveling at approximately 60 mph on the highway in normal traffic conditions, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion without warning. At that time, the instrument cluster displayed a “hybrid / electric mode unavailable” message along with a wrench indicator light. The vehicle immediately began losing power and was unable to maintain highway speed. As the vehicle slowed unexpectedly in active traffic, two tractor-trailers were approaching from behind. The sudden loss of propulsion created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision. The driver was forced to maneuver across lanes while the vehicle was losing power in order to reach the shoulder safely. The loss of propulsion and warning messages occurred simultaneously. The vehicle was towed to the authorized dealership, where it remains. The dealership has indicated they have been unable to duplicate the failure. These recurring electrical, braking, steering, and hybrid propulsion malfunctions present serious safety concerns, particularly when occurring at highway speeds or in traffic. Due to severe weather conditions, the vehicle was not towed until January 29, 2026. The vehicle was removed from service following the incident and subsequently transported to the authorized dealership, where it remains.
The forward collision warning (fcw) and automatic emergency braking (aeb) systems on my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee are consistently failing to operate as intended, creating a significant safety hazard symptoms include: system inactivity: the fcw fails to alert or provide braking assistance during clear, high-risk frontal collision scenarios. Persistent warning lights: the 'fcw off' indicator illuminates on the instrument cluster and cannot be cleared by toggling settings in the uconnect 5 system. Software defaults: following over-the-air (ota) updates, the fcw and pedestrian emergency braking (peb) systems default to 'off' and often remain disabled despite user attempts to re-engage them. Hardware misalignment/blinding: frequent 'acc/fcw limited functionality' messages occur even in clear weather with clean sensors, indicating a potential calibration or module communication failure. I am referencing xxx and manufacturer communication xxx regarding these specific software/hardware faults. Despite these known issues, the dealership ziegler chrisler doodge Jeep ram in schaumburg, IL has been unable to provide a permanent resolution. This failure leaves the vehicle without critical, advertised safety protections during operation.
This is a follow-up to my previous complaint. My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to show safety-related system failures that have not been addressed by the dealership or stellantis. The main new issue is a malfunction in the regenerative charging system. I have this feature turned off, yet the vehicle continues to engage regenerative charging while driving. This indicates a failure in the system’s control logic. I am also experiencing intermittent aeb system warnings. The aeb warning light activates randomly during normal driving with no obstacles present, creating uncertainty about whether the system will operate properly when needed. I reported these new issues to the dealership, but they stated they cannot schedule service until after christmas and cannot provide a loaner vehicle. Stellantis has also not offered a solution. I am forced to continue driving a vehicle with malfunctioning safety and braking-related systems. This is an unresolved and escalating safety defect that requires investigation and immediate manufacturer action.
I was driving down the interstate with my two babies in the car seats and all of a sudden all of the dash lights came on, and the power steering locked up. I was driving 70 miles per hour and had to pry my wheel as hard as I could to be able to pull over on the side of the interstate. Once I pulled over I turned the car off hoping it would reset whatever happened and the car was completely dead. It would not crank at all. I ended up having to call someone to come get me and my kids off the side of the interstate and tow the car to the dealership. This car has less than 70,000 miles on it and still is not fixed. It has been at the dealership for over 3 weeks with what they are telling me is electrical issues. I do not feel comfortable driving this car anymore as it is a safety hazard and could have gotten me and my children killed.
I am reporting unresolved safety issues involving multiple open recalls on my Jeep vehicle, including a high-voltage battery recall and an engine recall with no available remedy. Jeep has advised owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from structures or other vehicles due to fire risk, yet also states that owners may continue driving the vehicle. However, the vehicle automatically regenerates battery charge during normal driving even when regenerative braking is turned off. This behavior was not explained in the recall notice and creates confusion about how to safely operate the vehicle while complying with the “do not recharge” guidance. I am also experiencing intermittent automatic emergency braking (aeb) warning alerts, which raises additional safety concerns while driving under recall conditions. Another open recall related to the engine currently has no available remedy and has been unresolved for an extended period of time. Despite the safety nature of these recalls, Jeep has declined to provide a loaner vehicle. Jeep customer care states loaners are at dealership discretion, while dealerships state they have not received authorization from Jeep. Jeep has instead directed me to an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement program that requires the customer to front rental costs for an unknown duration, which is not financially feasible. I am concerned about being instructed to continue operating a vehicle with known safety risks, conflicting guidance, warning alerts, and no reasonable accommodation while remedies remain unavailable.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stopped vehicle, the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking system failed to engage, and the driver needed to depress the brake pedal at the last minute to stop the vehicle. The contact performed a test of the automatic emergency braking system. The contact stated that while two individuals were holding a beige sheet, the contact drove towards the sheet at 70 mph, and the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking system failed to engage while the vehicle was near the sheet, and the vehicle struck the sheet. The contact then drove towards the sheet at 6 mph and struck the sheet, then the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking beeping sound engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact provided the recording of the forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking system failure to engage as needed; however, the contact was informed that no failure was found. The service director at the dealer informed the contact that the engineers for the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The manufacturer called the contact and offered monetary compensation to keep the vehicle; however, the contact declined the compensation and requested a trade or buy back assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer offered to trade the vehicle for a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact test drove the vehicle with a staff member from the dealer inside the vehicle, and the vehicle experienced the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
Vehicle purchased 05/27/2025 6/6/2025 - 9 days after purchasing the vehicle I was left stranded in the parking lot due to the battery issues. The vehicle showed a warning stating to "service charging system" and the entire system locked out and the vehicle was towed to to the dealer for evaluation and was there for over a week. When I received the car back they stated it was just the battery and not the charging system/hybrid system. 12/03/25 - while driving on the freeway, warning lights started coming up and the seat belt bell started going off even though everyone was buckled. Then my power steering was disabled, the abs system was disabled and the breaks stiffened, lane assist was disabled, the airbags were disabled, and the sos calling, and the engine shut off. When trying to change lanes we had to use extreme force to turn the wheel and the emergency lights wouldn't engage when the button was pressed. Due to the brakes being stiff beyond reason it took us passing 3 freeway exits to slow down enough to force the car off of the road. I had my children in the car and was terrified I was going to be in a crash or worse, lose control and veer off of the road. When I was able to pull off of the freeway, I was not able to drive as the car was continuing to shut off every few feet. I had to have my vehicle towed home and they next day when driving it to the dealer it was still without power steering, the abs system, airbags, the brake pedal was extremely stiff and the seatbelt bells were going off even though I had my seatbelt on from first getting into the car. Myself, my fiancé and our children's live were put at risk due to this vehicle failure. I picked my car up from the dealer today 12/5/2025 and they advised this was an issue with a connector that was replaced but the entire system had to be reset. I would also like to include that the vehicle now has an open recall that has no remedy and the dealer/mfr. Have yet to provide any updates.
My 2017 Jeep cherokee rolled away three times in one day while in park with the electric parking brake engaged. My driveway has no flat area and slopes toward a public road, creating a serious hazard for my family and traffic. The rollaways occurred suddenly with no warning lights. I had to park the Jeep sideways in a snowbank for two weeks to prevent further rollaways, creating added risks for my family in winter conditions. The vehicle remains at the dealership. During the first two days of the evaluation, the dealer confirmed brake shoe thickness (4mm), verified the epb software was current, and found no diagnostic codes. They could not recreate the rollaway or identify a cause. No mechanical or electronic faults were found. Fca communication has been inconsistent. I experienced dropped calls, long holds, contradictory statements, and repeated refusals to provide written documentation of the inspection authorization. Fca said they could not escalate the safety case unless the vehicle was already at the dealership, yet still refused written confirmation of the purpose of the inspection, and I was not willing to bring the vehicle in without documentation. After the evaluation, when I attempted to relay the required findings per the ro instructions, fca informed me the safety case had already been closed, leaving no record of the defect. Fca said only the rental authorization remained open and they could no longer escalate my case. I then had to re-explain the entire rollaway incident. Fca and the dealer now disagree on whether the ro is open or closed, and fca has not explained who is responsible for the ongoing loaner or what the next steps are. The defect remains unresolved and the Jeep is unsafe to operate or park at my home.

-what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? automatic breaks engaged for no reason. -how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? it could have caused someone to rear end me. -has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no. -has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no -were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.
While driving all warning lights were activated and power steering completely failed. The vehicle was in drive and fully charged.
Subject: forward collision warning plus and advanced brake assist failure – 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo I am reporting a safety defect involving the full-speed forward collision warning plus and advanced brake assist systems on my 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. The vehicle does not provide forward collision warnings or apply assistive braking in situations where a collision is imminent. On multiple occasions, a vehicle in front of me slowed or stopped while turning into a driveway or parking lot. My Jeep provided no visual alert, no audible warning, and no braking assistance. I had to manually brake to avoid rear?ending the other vehicles. I brought the vehicle to the dealership. During testing, the system could not be activated on my Jeep. We then tested another Jeep of the same model and year; its system also failed to activate until we were within approximately three feet of the vehicle ahead. My Jeep never activated at any distance. The dealership stated that because adaptive cruise control slows the vehicle when active, the collision warning and brake assist systems must also be functioning. This explanation is inconsistent with how these systems are designed to operate, and it does not address the failure of the forward collision warning plus system to activate in real?world or controlled conditions. This appears to be a systemic failure of the collision?avoidance technology on this model, creating a significant risk of rear?end collisions.
I have been having this error message appear intermittently in the car upon starting the vehicle since I purchased the vehicle in August 2024. See attached photo. The message appears seconds after starting up and will go away. Lane keep assist will turn off but I can turn it back on. Additionally, I have had a similar occurrence in multiple occasions while driving where these systems will turn off and present an orange light on the dashboard. I’m not able to turn the systems back on when this happens. It will reset itself after turning the car on and then off. I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I have tested that and it appears untrue. Appears to be some sort of software or sensor issues within the car. I have seen this issue online and the dealer seemed familiar with it on other cars.
Aeb system engaged emergency braking for no apparent reason when traveling at >35mph on a busy road with the flow of traffic. My face actually hit the steering wheel and a car traveling behind me barely stopped in time to avoid rear ending me. The aeb system has repeatedly displayed warning lights in the dash previously. For each occurrence, the vehicle was serviced at the dealership and reassurances were provided each time that the underlying issue was remedied with reprogramming and/or replacement of electrical control modules, however the recurrent nature of the issue (and many other issues surrounding the electrical system in my grand wagoneer) doesn't instill confidence in the "fix" they're providing. At this point in time, I don't feel safe driving my grand wagoneer, as I don't know when the vehicle will involuntarily slam on the brakes in traffic and cause an accident.
I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe due to repeated and ongoing electrical system failures that present a serious safety hazard. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle began displaying the warning “service hybrid electrical system. ” shortly after the warning appears, the vehicle will often shut down completely while in operation. I have taken the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Each time, I was informed that Jeep is aware of the defect but that no repair is available, as a required software update has not yet been released. In June 2025, I escalated the issue directly to Jeep. During this time, I experienced an incident in which the vehicle lost all power and shut down on a highway, creating a significant risk of collision. Jeep representatives acknowledged the defect as a known safety concern but advised that there was no available fix. Because I cannot afford to park the vehicle indefinitely, I have been forced to continue driving it despite the dangers. Jeep has only provided one month’s car payment as a “goodwill” gesture, which in no way addresses the underlying safety hazard. In September 2025, after seeing a news report about a recall affecting this model, I contacted Jeep again. Initially, Jeep denied that a recall had been issued. Only after I provided them with the recall notice did they confirm that a recall was in effect. To date, no remedy or repair timeline has been provided. This issue has persisted for several months. Jeep has admitted that the defect is a safety concern, yet they have failed to provide a safe and operable vehicle. I, my children, and other motorists have been placed at extreme risk due to Jeep’s inaction. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Jeep’s handling of this defect, their delay in providing a remedy, and their failure to ensure that affected vehicles are safe to operate.
This issue happened 3 times in a matter of 2 months. All 3 happened in 3 different intersections. While turning left in the intersection (oncoming traffic also turning left) the vehicle jerks to a full stop in the middle of the intersection with a "crash detected" message flashing on the dashboard screen. The vehicle stayed in drive and continued to drive after full stop the first 2 incidents. On the 3rd incident, the vehicle stopped completely, and would not continue to drive. The vehicle had to be put into park (even though it said it was in drive but did not drive) and put into drive again to continue moving. Other vehicles driving behind the grand wagoneer were required to slam on brakes to prevent impact of the grand wagoneer and had to wait for the grand wagoneer to begin driving again. Unable to drive this vehicle due to safety issues. The vehicle is currently in the shop under investigation.
While driving, vehicle begins shifting down and jerking to stop. Emergency brake engages while driving.
The anti collision avoidance systems did not engage. Instead it seemed the vehicle sped up. It did not engage to stop a collision, I was at almost a stop. Vehicle seemed to speed up. Anti-collision systems did not engage at all. This system worked previously. It did not brake automatically nor avoid a collision. It caused an accident & there were minor injuries & totaling 2 vehicles mine (2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland) & the other party to accidents truck.

After having my 22 Jeep Grand Cherokee at obx Jeep in nc for over 10 months for electrical and camera issues it was shipped to brown daub Jeep in easton, PA for overdue PA state inspection due to the length of the repair in nc. Supposedly obx Jeep said it was repaired but car immediately had electrical issues including fcw off dash light. The PA Jeep dealer corrected electrical issues following Jeep star publication and it was returned to me July 3, 2025. Fcw off dash light has come back on on August 8, 2025 and obx Jeep is indicating I must again leave it with them to further diagnose the issue.
Lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking turning off on their own at startup. Issue has persisted intermittently in July 2025. Dealership has replaced parts with issue persisting. Vehicle has been in the shop over 40 days for this issue.
While driving my 2023 grand wagoneer the serv 4wd light and dash spelled out service four wheel drive, it lit up the anti collision light, ecs, tcs, and hold!. The parking brake also engaged automatically while driving at least 4 times. This is a serious safety concern to allow a vehicle to continue driving with the ability to automatically engage the parking brake while driving. The safety of my entire family was put at risk. I currently have the vehicle sitting at the dealership to be diagnosed and reproduced as the vehicle lost all power after this incident. Another serious safety concern is the total loss of power with no notice. This could easily have been while I was driving and caused a serious accident and possible fatalities.
Emergency electric brake system has set up a number of times on its own always when it was parked. I was towing the car behind a motorhome ,it is 2024 Grand Cherokee Jeep summit with approximately 6600 miles on it ,the electric emergency break system set up going down the road at 50 mile an hour behind the motorhome. The motorhome has 650 hp engine. I didn’t even feel the brakes set up on the car. I saw a lot of smoke behind the motorhome . I pulled over and it turned out the electric brake set and I couldn’t get it to release. I called the dealer where I bought it to see if they could tell me how to release it. They referred me to Jeep, I thought sure that they’d have someone but they referred me to a Jeep dealer in santa fe, new mexico the dealership had a tow CO haul it to the dealership and told me tow ins were 3 to 4 weeks out before they could get in and look at them . After a month and they had not looked at it I had it hauled to mike shaw Jeep where I bought it. My concern is that had I been driving that car on interstate highways in colorado 75 mph or states where it’s 85 miles an hour and the brake set up I’m going to be in the ditch or in the front of another vehicle killing my self and family or someone else family. This Jeep needs to be taken off the road before someone is killed. I refuse to drive it. Or let a family member drive it. Have had no satisfaction from Jeep dealers. I had to have a car to drive so I had to spend another $60,000 for a car. .
Was driving in a neighborhood and slowly turning at a 4 way stop, parking brake self engaged causing the car to slam to a stop and was unable to press gas. Had to put the car in park and restart (with shutoff for 30 seconds) before I could move and was stuck sitting in the middle of an intersection.
Vehicle wouldn’t go into gear June 2025 was towed due to service engine, abs braking error, service hybrid error. Messages were cleared and declared “no fix” wait for stellantis update. 7/2025 vehicle service hybrid went on, vehicle lost acceleration when turning onto road. Brought back to Jeep service indicated “no fix” stellantis/Jeep aware of issue. Customer states serive hybrid light turns on and the vehicle is losing power on and off verified concern, code b273c-00, documentation from Jeep this issue, it is a known issue with no repair available at this time, it is not recommended to park the vehicle inside until a repair can be performed warranty courtesy vehicle inspection section: see attached know your vehicle report for inspection results warranty claim type:.
Hybrid system failure alert (red wrench)– the vehicle has shut down while driving, including on highways. When the light goes on – it has braked on its own without me touching the pedal. Dci- is the code the dealership says is coming up no fix for it.
The unit has been taken to Chrysler dealers in puerto rico three times. On each visit, we were charged $120. 00 for a total of $360. 00 for the computer scan. We were charged for an electrical module, part no. 68442478ab, worth $406. 59. The situation has not been resolved. The vehicle has abnormalities in the braking system, which consequently affects other functions and even drains the batteries. I would like to sell the unit, but it is not resalable due to the unresolved recall. I need Chrysler to offer me options such as a refund or another unit without defects.
The Jeep uconnect system control screen has delaminated form normal use which is a well documented issue on thousands of Jeeps from online research. The delamination now has the vehicle pushing buttons on the screen by itself and changing safety parameters while driving. I have a video showing that while I am driving and not pushing any buttons the screen is frantically changing steering parameters, braking parameters, collision avoidance, lane departure, blind spot, etc. I have a video of the incident and screen doing this by itself. I can not upload it due to size, but please contact me for the video and I will send it.

I purchased this vehicle 04/15/2025. Starting at less than 500 miles the blind spot indicator warning lights along with the abs braking system warning lights randomly come on while driving. To receive random warning light notices and sounds while driving is extremely startling and concerning. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership multiple times with no success of fixing the issue. They have been in touch with Chrysler’s engineers. The engineers have given instructions such as inspecting the electrical system, replacing the main module and software updates all of which have not corrected the problem. The vehicle is still at the dealership with no resolution. Apparently, these issues have been reported before not only for the Jeep grand wagoneer but other Chrysler vehicles as well. As a loyal Jeep customer, I purchased this vehicle because of the safety features advertised. However, it has become a nightmare and I do not feel safe driving in this vehicle at all. Please research these safety concerns.
