Jeep Grand Cherokee owners have reported 87 problems related to warnings (under the forward collision avoidance category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Jeep Grand Cherokee based on all problems reported for the Grand Cherokee.
Issue 1: after several recalls - the battery issue still remains. Often not kicking in and leaving a power deficit (loss of motive power). The gap is short, but when low speed on battery and you push the accellerator to merge/turn, etc. And there is a delay - it can cause an accident. Issue 2: the investigation of alerts of pedestrians - happens intermittently. There has never been a fix. Issue 3: the tire pressure monitoring system fails to read intermittently - a warning on the dash indicates it is not working and to get it checked. Dealership has noted problem, but never fixed. Still occurs 3+ years. Issue 4: radio/infotainment system blanks out or becomes unresponsive. When relying on this device for navigation, that becomes a problem.

I am writing to formally document a serious and extremely concerning safety incident that occurred on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at approximately 12:06 pm while driving my 2024 Jeep wagoneer, which currently has approximately 58,000 miles. While driving, multiple critical warning lights and system failure messages appeared simultaneously. I have attached photos documenting the warnings that occurred during the incident. Service power steering • abs warning • red steering wheel with exclamation mark • check engine light • collision / auto emergency braking warning • traction control / electronic stability control warning • forward collision warning / automatic emergency braking disabled during this event, the vehicle behavior became unpredictable and unsafe. Considering the failure of multiple safety systems at once, this created a situation that could have easily resulted in a serious accident. I am extremely shaken by the experience and thankful that my four children were not in the vehicle with me at the time. Unfortunately, this incident is part of a long list of issues I have experienced with this vehicle since purchasing it. These include: persistent check engine light issues • replacement of all third-row seatbelts due to defects • oil valve replacement (code p06d – oil pump control stuck high) • multiple software updates • the vehicle shifting itself into park when coming to a stop, with the gear dial locking and requiring the vehicle to be fully shut off and restarted before it can be driven again • driver window intermittently sticking • replacement of the passenger seat massage system due to an air bladder malfunction • vehicle jolting/jumping when coming to a stop given the number of ongoing mechanical and electronic problems, I no longer feel confident that this vehicle is safe to drive. I purchased this vehicle specifically for the safety and reliability.

Known software glich known as "the italian bug" car switches to italian and disables fcw, paddle shifting and changes many features to metric, farenheit to celsius, psi to kpa, mph to kilometers, many features can be reset but not fcw and paddle shifting. It's unknown what other features get disabled but this all causes significant driver distraction trying to reset everything while driving as they are encountered. Jeep has multiple tsbs on this with no known permanent fix.
The above checked and visibility wiper and auto emergency braking lights come on occasionally for no reason while driving the touchscreen can get very hot and go blank at times the electric battery is not able to be utilized in cold or hot outdoor temperatures the heating system on highest temp occasionally blows cool air -not warm/hot the engine light came on last week and the electrical power system will not engage even with full charge.

So we where never notified of the recalls on are vehicle, we found out for are selves. Dealership never notified us of them at the last oil change, and now we are trying to get out of the vehicle.
I hit a deer at 65 mph, causing significant damage to my vehicle, $7,300+ to the front end. I have a safety beacon that detected the accident through my insurance, that detected the severity of the impact, resulting in an immediate call for safety to check on me. My airbags did not deploy, but there was a nasty aroma of sulfur during the impact. My minor children were secured safely in the vehicle, as well as myself. I, the driver of the car hit my head very hard on the steering wheel and window during impact, causing whiplash- neck pain, and reoccurring migraines still to this day 3-21-2026. Although I didn't receive medical attention it has been made known that I hit my head. This would've been avoided had my airbags deployed. I assume there may have been a malfunction and had this been a more serious incident, not only would my life be at stake, but most importantly my children. This is unacceptable for safety purposes.

Forward collision warning. While attempting to make a left hand turn with a green arrow onto a busy highway, the car suddenly slammed to a stop almost causing a collision. The problem has not been reproduced as it hasn’t been driven again. It is not yet at the dealership. The vehicle has not been inspected. No warning lights prior to the problem.
Screens switches to italian, also screens freeze or go blank, front collision warning (fcw) light illuminates and can't be turned off. Bluetooth randomly disconnects, auto door locks don't engage; paddle shifters for manual gear selection cease functioning, pedestrian avoidance, automatic emergency braking, and high-beam assist stop working; memory seats unexpectedly adjust while driving. I have to bring the car to the dealer to fix this, this happens every 14 days or so.
The forward collision warning light came on again after switching to italian. Dealership says the warranty just ran out but this multiple times this happens and clearly it has not been fixed. Fcw issue.

This happened 4 tines before randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (italian). Coinciding with the switch to italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. All change, and many other random settings change as well. ***this is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the fca off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [xxx] many people on the forum believe this issue did not start until a software update a year or so ago. This is a well known and widespread problem, and there is even a dot bulletin on the issue: dot. Report bulletins because this is dangerous (for settings/gauges/units to no longer be useful while driving), and it occurs randomly, I strongly believe this issue should be a manufacturer recall. This vehicle can create a fire. My home is at risk, other cars/structures parked near it, and people who drive the vehicle are at risk of fire. This is the 2nd time we have received notice of fire hazard for this make/model. The dealership is aware of the problems. Check engine light stays on and nobody can figure out why. I cannot charge my car, park near anyone/anything, and constant fear of my car setting fire while driving it.
My acc/fcw light is on, I have not been in a crash. And while driving after this light came on my passenger headrest airbag broke apart. And my cruise control is out, along with traction control. My car just went haywire.

Instrument panel switches to italian, forward collision off light gets stuck on and my seat moved abruptly while I was driving down the road. I have taken my Jeep into the dealership last year for this problem, it was “fixed” but has come back. Noticed the light stuck on last week. Today while I was driving the panel changed to italian and my seat moved abruptly. Many people on online forums express experiencing the same problem.

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's automatic emergency braking (aeb) system engaging while turning left when there was no car or pedestrian in front of us. This scared us as the car stopped in the middle of a large intersection putting us all in danger of potentially getting hit. The brake message appeared followed by three loud beeps before the car applied full pressure on the breaks and brought the car to a full stop.
I have code b273c-00 digital crash input on my Jeep. This is the code dealerships were informed if they see this code the vehicles have to be grounded. At this time, there is no remedy for the Grand Cherokees. The dealership can't release my Jeep back due to safety reasons, and it's been with them for over an month and counting.
Without warning or being given an option to reject the update, my vehicle was updated to settings that no longer offer paddle shifting or the ability to enable or disable the pedestrian emergency braking (peb) system. The latter results in being unable to turn off the forward collision off light on the dashboard. The update also wiped out most of my settings and changed units of measure to the metric system. According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
1) vehicle lost power in traffic with no warning other then a dashboard red wrench 2) rear collision warning does not work intermittently 3) forward collision warning not operable 4) rain sensing wipers do not work intermittently.

On several occasions, fcw activated unexpectedly in low risk situations (in driveway, pulling into neighborhood) may 2024 & Nov 2024. While driving 60mhp on a 4 lane highway during rush hour on may 19, fcw activated unexpectedly; immediately taking me down to 20mhp. The “brake” warning and beeping remained with the brakes activated for 30-60 seconds. I was unable to accelerate. Vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid impact. As I was pulling off the highway immediately following, fcw activated again and I was nearly rear-ended. There were no vehicles in front of me for a least a mile during these incidents. Vehicle has been inspected by 3 separate certified Jeep mechanic. All claim they cannot identify an issue with the vehicle as there are no active codes in the system. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the concern. It appears to happen every couple thousand miles. My safety and my family’s safety and other drivers are at risk if this vehicle remains on the road unfixed. The sudden braking could cause a major accident. Jeep refuses to address the issue. The dealer insists nothing is wrong because the issue is not found.
The Jeep uconnect system control screen has delaminated form normal use which is a well documented issue on thousands of Jeeps from online research. The delamination now has the vehicle pushing buttons on the screen by itself and changing safety parameters while driving. I have a video showing that while I am driving and not pushing any buttons the screen is frantically changing steering parameters, braking parameters, collision avoidance, lane departure, blind spot, etc. I have a video of the incident and screen doing this by itself. I can not upload it due to size, but please contact me for the video and I will send it.
Forward collision system and rear collision system (park sense) are malfunctioning/not operating properly. Dealer stated that it is a "known issue with no known fix. " I had two incidents that almost resulted in accidents before I assumed that the system was not working properly. There a no warning lights or indicators showing faults with the systems.
Earlier this spring, when we started our 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the language had changed itself to italian, the units were metric, the ‘forward collision’ off icon was stuck on the dashboard. Also the paddle shifters did not work. In may, 2025, we paid $204. 41 to gary mathews motors in clarksville, TN to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue. Fast forward to this month, and the issue happened again! they didn’t ‘fix’ anything. See forum where hundreds of other owners are experiencing the same exact issues: [xxx] also see star bulletin regarding this issue: [xxx] from what I can see in the forums, there is no permanent fix for this issue. Despite this, Jeep/stellantis keeps charging customers to ‘diagnose’ and ‘fix’ the issue which is a scam/fraud since they know there is no permanent fix. I have reached out to Jeep, and been promised follow-up from one of their specialists that never comes. I have all transcripts and promised timelines to expect follow up that never happen. I will attach photos where they admit they haven’t met the timeline for follow up that was communicated, and as of now, despite additional promises of communication/follow up I still have not heard from them. Having a forward collision system that does not function properly puts myself and others at risk. Also having a dash in units/language you do not understand is also a safety issue. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving the vehicle(speed does not matter as this has occurred while standing at a stop light) all safety warning lights illuminate on the dash and render all of my safety features inoperative. This includes: abs, forward collision avoidance, rear collision avoidance, and park assist. Once this happens the vehicle becomes extremely difficult to operate and to stop. The remedy is to pull over, turn the vehicle off and open the drivers side door to shut off the rac (retained accessory control), let the vehicle sit for a minute or two, then restart the vehicle. All light will remain off and the car will function normally. This issue occurs at least 2-3 times per week and is extremely frustrating. I've taken the vehicle to the dealership several times for what they have determined to be a "software issue". Several trips have been for recalls, others have been for this issue and my infotainment system going black. The infotainment system going black is the second major issue with this vehicle. The dealership was able to get the system operating again with an additional software update, however it has not completely remedied the problem. The infotainment system will still black out, but for only a quick second, then it comes back on. When it does this, I loose all settings including profiles and siriusxm programmed stations. I've done a master reset on the infotainment system and have had it back to the dealership, but it still has not been 100% resolved. This is a safety risk when it blacks out as I loose navigation, audio, and bluetooth connectivity. Now my attention is not on the road but on the failed system. Dates and timeframe for service: Dec 18, 2024. Returned Dec 19, 2024: electrical work Dec 6, 2024. Returned Dec 17, 2024: electrical work Nov 11, 2024. Returned Nov 14, 2024: electrical work sept 7, 2024. Returned sept 7, 2024: warranty recall\oil change & tire rotation July 12, 2022. Returned July 12, 2022: electrical work-software.
The vehicle in September of 2024 after a software update randomly changed the settings. The forward collision off warning light remains on (in settings the forward collision is "on", the language changed to italian, the paddle shifters stopped working, the units changed, and the grid for the backup camera was turned off). I had it serviced at Jeep. They reset the vehicle which temporarily fixed the issue, however, 3 weeks later it happened again. There is a known mopar/star case number s2108000249. This is also reported in Jeep forum. My safety is at risk due to the failure of the forward collision warning light/software malfunction. I feel that I am at risk for a forward collision. Also the paddle shifters don't work.
The system has many errors, the primary issue is the forward collision warning indicator light is on showing that the service is off. But it isn't, you can go into the system settings and turn the service on and off without issue. The light stays on. It does work as far as I can tell also. It seems to be causing the paddle shifting to be disabled. I can't downshift going down a steep grade and am being required to use by brakes. Which can be very dangerous. It is causing another issue that I cannot recall at the moment. There is another issue with the settings of the vehicle randomly changing to euro type metric settings. The clock changing to 24 hour, tire pressure changing to kpa? mph changing to kph, all the different unit of measurements changing over. Randomly, not at the same time but consistently every few weeks. At first it seemed like it was connected to a monthly software update, but now its random. The vehicle has been taken to a Jeep dealership in sherman, TX about the issue of the forward collision system and they fixed it. Then the problem reappeared a month afterward. I've called and they confirm that the correct us software is installed. I am the only driver of the vehicle, so no one else is changing the settings. I work a full time 9-5 job and do not work close to a dealership, which has become an issue for these matters. All the issues I have had with the vehicle seem to be related to them updating the software without my approval. Currently my vehicle has 71k miles on it and won't be covered by the 50k warranty. The warning light issue started after 50k miles.
Dash lights for esc, fcw and traction control are on and a message states that these are not functioning. No crash has occurred.

The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the forward warning collision light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that a system reset was needed following an over the air software update. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance instead advising the the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 41,000.
There is a recall on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee it is a safety recall. Manufacturer recall number94b NHTSA recall number24v-838 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available summary an hcu/abs module that falsely reads pressure in the primary circuit may illuminate the brake lights (up to 4. 5 mph), disable the abs and electronic stability control (esc), and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of park without the brake pedal being depressed. Safety risk a brake light that inadvertently illuminates may result in surrounding drivers not receiving accurate indication of slowing or stopping, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Disabled abs and esc, that are needed to help control the vehicle, can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. A vehicle that is able to start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal can result in unintended vehicle movement which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle.
I own a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is experiencing unintended automatic braking while driving. The crash detection/forward collision warning system shows a constant warning light on the dashboard. While driving under normal conditions with no obstacles present, the vehicle will suddenly brake on its own. This has occurred multiple times and now happens almost daily. The problem first occurred on November 26, 2024, the same day I purchased the vehicle used with approximately 34,158 miles. The issue has continued as the mileage has increased to approximately 51,500 miles. This creates a serious safety risk because the vehicle can suddenly brake in the middle of traffic without warning, which could cause another vehicle to collide with the rear of my vehicle. I am concerned about the risk of a crash or injury. The problem has been reported to the dealership multiple times since purchase. The vehicle has been in the shop for repair attempts, but the issue has not been permanently corrected. The warning light remains on and the unintended braking continues to occur during normal driving. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.
Software update was pushed on or around 11/22/2024. After update front collision system warning light on dash. Doors fail to auto lock when driving off. Options to toggle front pedestrian breaking now missing that would turn off the light. Jeep facebook groups show multiple people with same year having the same problem after software update fca-my24. U29. 42-prod.

When driving down interstate five in san diego, my vehicle decided that it wanted to come to a screeching halt suddenly as the forward collision system activated randomly, causing my neck to jolt and a distill in pain. I had no idea what was going on, but in order to try to get out of the way of traffic, I quickly tried to override what the system was doing after coming to a complete stop, then the accelerator stuck getting the vehicle going over 100 mph. The hybrid system only shut down the gas engine, but the electric was still propelling the vehicle to go forward. I had to hit the button to turn the vehicle to gas only and shift into neutral in order for the vehicle to finally stop getting below 100 miles per hour to where I could safely pull over to the side of the road. I called Jeep and they laughed.
