The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. On another occasion, all of the doors locked and unlocked inadvertently. Also, while driving, the gear shifter automatically shifted into first gear. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Passenger side front door would not unlock. All doors automatically lock when vehicle speed increases above approximately 15 mph. Vehicle was parked and passenger was not able to open door using door handle. After several minutes we were able to get the door to unlock and passenger was able to egress the vehicle. This could pose a serious threat to occupants that could lead to serious injury or death by delaying or preventing their exiting from the vehicle in an emergency or after an accident. This locking system failure also disables the external door operating mechanism making it impossible for someone outside the vehicle to open the affected door thereby making it more difficult for them to assist those inside the vehicle. This make, model and year vehicle has a recall that addresses loss of fuel tank integrity following a rear end collision. If the loss of fuel tank integrity resulted in a fire the failure of the door lock system to prevent occupants exiting the vehicle could result in serious injury or death.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the driver secured a child in the rear seating and shut the doors. The driver then realized that she left the key fob inside of the vehicle and the doors were locked. The contact also stated that the vehicle was designed in a manner in which the doors were not supposed to lock unless someone was seated in the driver's seat. The driver had to break the driver's window to enter the vehicle and unlock the doors. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but they could not duplicate or diagnose the failure. Latches/locks/linkages - the pop down did not show this category so I used other the door latches will not work due to failing inner plastic housing. All four doors are in some condition of cracking and failure. One latch will not work at all, thus the door cannot be opened from the inside of vehicle. It is a serious safety issue. There are many complaints on this issue that have been filed. Chrysler should immediately recall the vehicles and properly repair them.

Door handles opening and closing during normal use on all four doors at approximately 50000 miles caused interior door panel to crack. This causes door handle to not function properly which is a safety issue if someone needs to exit vehicle quickly such as during an accident. I spoke with Chrysler who insists it is a cosmetic issue, which it certainly is not. Entire interior door panel needs to be replace on each door at cost of $600 each to fix this and this has not been done as of yet.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited - car is a good condition except for 3 of the 4 doors have handles casings that are cracked and the door handle is hanging off. The car is well maintained and garage kept. This started happening in the last year and has spread rapidly. All 3 doors have done it the same place and it has started with a crack and then grown into the pieces falling off and leaving the inner workings of the door fully exposed. The is a grave safety issue and a recall needs to be issued.

Door locks not working, initial rear passenger lock making a buzzing noise followed by not opening. Now the front passenger door is buzzing and opening intermittently.

I have an 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and all 4 enterior door handles started with hairline cracks that have advanced into major cracks and pieces of the plastic missing where the enterior door handle is located. Recently, 2 days ago- the back passenger handle completely came off and now is inoperable. There is no way to exit the vehicle from the inside of that affected door. I am certain that all my door handles will eventually follow suit and I will have no operable doors in the vehicle. This is a safety issue and should be addressed as such. This is not cosmetic. All 4 enterior door handle panels need to be replaced. The door handles are not secure and will continue to crumble until they are not usable anymore. Since this is a known issue- when is Jeep going to start replacing their broken manufactured parts?.

2,011 Jeep overland has a service bulletin 08-029-10. My vehicle has been in dealership six times for liftgate not opening when it is in the heat and sun in arizona. Chrysler acknowledges this will happen when metal on hatch reaches 140 degrees which is equivalent to about 100 days in the southwest. Is this a safety hazard and what obligation does Chrysler have? they told me to live with it in the summertime. Chrysler claims nothing can be done to repair no opening liftgate.

The contact owns a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo. The contact stated that the lock on the driver side door failed. The contact stated the door only stayed closed by being tied shut. The dealer stated that the failure was due to normal wear and tear and that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The VIN was not available. The current mileage was 115,000 and the failure mileage was unavailable.

Normal door use, door handles cracking then breaking. Worried about safety. Unable to exit door in an emergency. Would have to be let out. Nothing done to repair. Three out of the four are broken. Jeep will not recall or repair. Only way to exit vehicle is to be let out from exterior.

2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee interiori door handles disentigrate making it impossible to open doors from inside. Obviously a tremendous safety concern in case of mishap as all four disintegrate at the same rate. We had 2 totally totally fail rendering door inoperative and occupant unable to exit.

The door panels on our 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee cracked around the door handles. The door handle broke and the rear door will not open, trapping the passengers in the rear seat.

Door panel just behind front door latches cracks and obstructs latch movement, thereby impeding door operation. Even after plastic fully cracks, latch sometimes "catches" on pieces. Could be hazardous if immediate exit of vehicle was necessary.

All four interior door handle panels/attach points have craked and crummbled. Rear door handles are totaly off and inoperateble. Front are very loose and falling off. Unable to exit the vehicle from the inside and must use exterior door handles to open the doors.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee interior door handle trim completely shatters for no apparent reason. Door handles are inoperative from inside the vehicle. Every door handle has this same issue. Chrysler-Jeep officially denies any culpability, but will give a discount off of the $2,500 repair bill, so consumers must pay $1,000 for the manufacturing defect. Even extended warranties will not cover the issue. I hope to god no one ever desperately needs to get out of one of these death traps in an emergency.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact noticed that the passenger side door would not latch. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they replaced the door hinge. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The current and failure mileages were 6,000. Bw.

My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear drivers side latch handle broke while trying to exit the vehicle. After futher inspection, 2 more latches are experiencing stress fractures in plastic molding.

2005 jeed Grand Cherokee failure of interior door latch handles due to cracked plastic door panel which prevents operation of the door from the interior. This has occurred on 3 of 4 doors with the 4th door possibly failing in the near future. This is a severe safey issue preventing occupants from exiting the vehicle in an emergency. There are numerous reports on the internet. Although, internet reports are frequently unreliable, there are hundreds of postings discussing this condition. Further, at least one report indicates that Chrysler has agreed to replace the door panels for a $50 CO-pay; but my contact with Chrysler was not successful. This is a serious issue that merits consideration for a recall.

During the month of may 2011 the plastic interior door handle recesses began to crack and ultimately the pieces literally began to fall of the vehicle rendering the door handles useless when attempting to open the door from inside as door handles no longer had a pivot point to operate against when attempting to pull the interior door handle in an effort to operate the door latch mechanism. This failure makes it impossible to open the door from inside the vehicle short of rolling down the power windows and pulling on the outside door handle. On the tenth of June 2011 the selling dealer was called concerning this issue and the operations manager stated he could not due anything. Subsequently Chrysler customer assistance was called and after several exchanges with two different case managers, on the 21st of June I was told by the presiding case manager that due to the fact that the vehicle had approximately 80,000 miles on it and had been out of warranty for so long (2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee larado) Chrysler would do nothing.

The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact was unable to exit the vehicle from the front driver side because the door handle was fractured. In order for the contact to exit the vehicle, the contact had to roll down the front driver side window and open the door by using the exterior door handle. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were unknown.

I have a Grand Cherokee 2005, I purchase used less then 5 months ago. The passenger door open handle frame started to brake up to a point that broke the frame. Went to the dealer where I purchase the told me that I need to replace the entire door panel which cost me over 600 dollars. The veichle has less then 60 thousand miles . . . But since pass the 6 years it is not cover under the warranty. I am afraid to buy another door panel pay 600 dollars and break again. I would like to Jeep to step up and help customers that like Jeep cars and have problems like this . . . After looking online I notice that I am not the only one. Please help.

I own a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and all my interior door handles are breaking,I have three small children and I am concerned they would not be able to get out of the vehicle if anything were to happen.

My vehicle has 40,000 miles, emaculate condition except for the door handles and their structures around them. The drivers door is barley exitable. Sometimes I have to roll the window down to get out. (how imbaressing, to be a top of the line, showroom quality; still ; vehicle). We bought it new in November 2004. Have been so happy with it until 2 months ago. The passenger and rear passenger handles are cracked as well. Please help me, I'm just sick about it.
