2001, Jeep grand cherokee larado, blend door failures of heater system. Failure resulted in no heat or defrost situation during inclement weather forcing driver to stop along motorway. Vehicle inspected and discovered the heater system "blend doors" failed. Not sure when the passenger side failed, however the driver side resulted in the vehicle now not being driven during inclement weather. Repair quotes have been extensive and beyond for what appears to be serious and widespread safety issue with Jeeps utilizing this heating system at this time vehicle is not driven during inclement weather as repairs are too expensive for me to absorb at this time. Failure to defrost windshield leads to a serious drivable problem from fogging windows.
Heater quit working only blows cold air, will not defrost windshield always fogs and frosts on interior, must stop on hwys to avoid crashes with other cars.
Blend doors in 99-04 Jeeps are guaranteed to need costly repair ranging from $300 (if performed personally) up to $1200 if performed by a mechanic. This is a known problem that will prohibit the heat and defogger systems from operating properly creating a huge safety concern. The blend doors are located behind the entire dash and repair takes an experienced mechanic approximately 20 hours to complete. Jeep knows about this problem and has not issued a recall to correct it leaving owners with costly out of pocket repairs.
1999 Jeep grand cherokee limited - no heat on driver's side - mechanic says blend air doors problem, a problem on most Jeep grand cherokee models. This costly problem is so common among Jeep grand cherokees that there should be a recall for this problem. Ak.

One cool morning my 2002 Jeep grand cherokee limited stopped blowing warm air from passenger side vents. Searching for a possible solution to my problem, I come to the conclusion it might be my blend door actuator that has broken. I am unable to afford the repairs . . . Dealerships are quoting me almost $1300 to fix. I have done nothing to cause this problem. After reading article from many grand cherokee owners, they have had the same problem. This needs to be taken care of soon.
I have a 2001 Jeep grand cherokee limited, at approximately 58,000 miles the hvac system won't direct the air to the correct area when asked to do so. When taken to the dealer they tell me it will cost $1,500 to repair. From what I understand this is a very common situation with these vehicles. I live in central ohio and it get very cold in the winter and when you can't get heat to come out of the floor or dash vents or the defroster to keep the window clear while driving it becomes a safety hazard. I'll put the date down when it started happening and it hasn't been resolved since.
Blend doors drivers & passenger. Replaced blower motor twice.
(1)hot/cold air blowing blend door from vents is not working. (2)air circulation button is not working properly. (3)dashboard have a creaking sound coming from its underside when I turn on ventilation. (4)front & rear differential make noises when turning.
The dual climate control is no longer working causing problems on fogging up windows in particular weather making it very difficult to drive. From my understanding this is a common problem on the car and cost over $1000 to fix the blend doors. . . Not sure what blend doors are. . . But apparently they are broken.
