4 Power Train problem of the 2006 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 12/25/2012

Complaint for another Jeep owner when driving my 2006 Jeep grand cherokee Laredo the lights around the pnd21 will circle all of the gears and either go into neutral or 1st gear on its own while you are driving it, it happens at least 2-3 times a week. It is very dangerous when you are driving down the road - have taken to dealer said it needs electronic shift module at a cost of $750. Called customer service Jeep they said they couldn't help with the cost of repair. I have looked into this problem and it seems that there a lot of these same 2006 Jeeps with the same problem. They said my Jeep has to many miles 85,000 - but it seems like it happens to call Jeeps no mater what the mileage - I think this is a defective part and they should make it right - now matter how many miles. This is a very dangerous problem. I have almost been in 3 accidents due to this problem. Issue with my Jeep Laredo - exactly the same! I have been experiencing the same exact thing! I will be driving (regardless of speed) and everything locks up and I cannot slow down, stop, or speed up, and at the same time the lights around "p-n-d-2-1" will all be highlighted. The engine revs up on its own, sometimes getting into the red zone, and after what seems like forever it all releases and starts to drive normal again. I've had it looked at numerous times, transmission damn near replaced, starter replaced, etc. , and it continues to happen. This last incident I was informed of the code "p0700" which has to do with a fault in the transaxle control system. Obviously I'm not the only one with this problem. Jeep needs to come out with some sort of recall, regardless of mileage or warranty, to fix this before there's a serious accident, hopefully not one that would take any lives! it's apparent that it's not an "operator error" but instead a manufacturing error. This has happened multiple times.

5 Power Train problem of the 2003 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 10/23/2010

Transmission. Saturday morning taking pop up trailer and kids to go camping. Drove about five miles to get gas without problem. Leaving gas station felt as if the car lost traction. Did the same thing when stopped at stop sign. Traveled on expressway without problem at basic constant speed. But when at camp ground tried to go up hill at slow speed lost all forward movement started to roll back down the hill. Luckily there was no cars behind me and a spot to roll back uncontrolled into (no reverse either) and the person who did come up help to push trailer into spot and then rolled Jeep into spot next to it. No drive no reverse, attempted several times hoping the (apparent no so better) idea of being able to move between drive, neutral, and reverse without pushing the button had a problem. Check fluid level on trans and it was ok. After a few minutes of waiting started the Jeep and was able to put it in drive and go later to return to pick up trailer. Appointment with trans person on 10/26/10 at half the cost of dealer to find out what the problem is now with this Jeep with 67,000 miles on it. Jeep needs to look into there products. Starting with the brakes at 30,000 miles (warped rotor) was told by dealer there was no problems they knew about, only a month later got card about class action suit. Problem existed on both the 03 Laredo and 02 wrangler. Since electric window piece of plastic broke on assembly must replace whole thing, O2 sensors 3 of the 4 needed to be replaced one because it was ran next to exhaust pipe and wore through shorting wires, fan and relay (inside bumper) told cut hole in bumper to get to it and more. Some dangerous ( transmission, possible safety cutting hole in bumper area), some silly (running wire with or without cover along a very hot exhaust pipe) and last just money making schemes ( electric window assembly with a piece of plastic witch is going to break with the hot and cold. Or fan motor) both you must buy the whole assembly.

6 Power Train problem of the 2001 Jeep Laredo

Failure Date: 06/20/2009

We have a 2001 Jeep Laredo and the left rear axle seals and bearings have gone out twice. Bearings start making noise at around 35 mph. The seals failed and caused oil to get on the emergency brake lining causing emergency brake to be ineffective. The first time this went out the vehicle had approx. 75,000 mi. The vehicle has the same problem again at approx. 82,000 mi. This has cost $1100. 00 to fix the first time and is at the dealer now for the second repair which will cost at least $1500. 00 to repair bearings and emergency brake and/or linings.
