Well my 2002 Jeep Liberty has been messed up lately,it will just not crank so I thought it was the battery but it turned out to be the ignition switch also it did this off an on for about 6months ,the heat went out when I bought it and it will act as if it is overheating but it won't do anything for while then all of my windows have problems with the motor s in them the suspension, control arms I've had to change ,and the cruise control button will stick and keep going while you are driving it almost caused me to wreck on the interstate you have to turn the vehicle completely off once you get it to stop if you can get it to stop. Out of all the vehicles I've had this is the first to take off by itself.
Can’t go over 60 miles n the brake shake the gas pedal seem to be look at I purchase it 4 $3000 at a car lot last month.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle vibrated as the front brakes separated from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.
Had just purchased a Jeep Liberty used --first time I drove it on a wet road-I was braking as usual at a red light--the car skidded and swerved 40 feet, finally stopping but not before I had to very off the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me --I was only going 30-35 miles an hour when I started braking--I was terrified by the fact that the car would not stop and could only imagine what would have happened under different circumstances!! --took the car into the Jeep dealership--they said the brakes were fine --I had new tires put on the car --even though the dealership said the tires were fine too --the second time -(--wet road)--I was going about 25 miles and hour and lightly braked ----car slid instead of stopping---same day---now very cautious, I carefully hit the brakes when a car quite a distance ahead of me pulled out --again--I was only going about 35mph---fortunately I started braking the second I saw him because the car skidded 30-40 feet at least, turning toward the right, and finally stopped 3 car lengths before I would have hit this car in the driver side door ---had I not had the previous incident just minutes before ---I would have been going 60 miles an hour and not been able to avoid an accident--I went online today --there are numerous similar complaints with Jeep Liberty's--one person refers to her Liberty as a death trap--another man said his wife complained of this and he didn't believe her until he skidded through an intersection going only 20 mph!!! someone else, knowing this problem , simply traded his vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer ---this defect is frightening!!!! this is a car I rarely drive-- fortunately because now I can't take it on the road for fear of having a serious accident!!.
I was attempting to stop, going downhill on a day it had rained but was no longer raining. I had my 4 year old daughter in the car the day of this incident. I applied the brakes to stop because another car was making a left hand turn at the end of the hill and the vehicle started to slide I was going approximately 25 miles an hour, and luckily started to stop in time because I slide almost 50 feet and turned the wheel sharply to avoid the car. The Jeep never came to a stop the car turned and was able to let off the brakes. The Jeep has done this on several occasion prior and I thought I need brakes and that them replaced. This happened after I had new brakes put on.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. He stated that his daughters vehicle was included as part of a recall (NHTSA campaign #03v460000) for the lower ball joint. The vehicle has been repaired twice. The contact felt that the upper ball joint was damaged due to a torn rubber pad. The mechanic stated that the brakes on the vehicle were inappropriate based on the weight of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 27,000 and the current mileage was 61,000.
: the contact stated having problems with the brakes. The problem started after the vehicle was repaired at the dealership, for a NHTSA recall, # 06v288000, regarding the suspension: front: control arm: lower ball joint. While driving 10 mph on normal road conditions, the brakes did not respond, no matter how far the brake pedal was depressed, the brake pedal went all way down to the floor and pulled the vehicle to the right. There were no warning signals prior to the incident. The vehicle was not taken to a dealership. The dealership was contacted, and would not offer a repair without charges.
Took my car in to dealer for an oil change and recent recall installation, was told my front brakes had about 1,000 miles left , this at 53,00 miles. Took car to meinike for a 2nd opinion and front drums could be reground but rear brakes were shot, mechanical failure, either bad parts or incorrect installation. I am first owner and drive 14 miles to work, top speed 35 mph due to back roads and traffic. 5 speed standard transmission. Replaced rear brakes. No warning sounds. Dealer unsympathetic. Not willing to look at damaged brake parts, which I kept.
: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at low speeds on wet roads, there was an increased stopping distance. Although the problem persisted, the dealer and manufacturer were not alerted.
Disc brakes emit a "popping"/"clicking" noise when brake pedal is depressed. Noise is intermittent. No accident or crashes reported at this time. Vehicle was inspected by daimler-Chrysler dealership, noting problem could not be duplicated, therefore problem could not be resolved. Problem still persists to this day.
While driving 30 mph, something in the front end differential broke. I have had numerous problems with this vehicle. I'm on my 3rd set of tires. The brakes have been replaced 3 times. It's in the shop more than it is out.
3rd time work on a ball joints recall job that cause damage to brakes, tie rods ,rack n pinion, rotors and most of the suspension system.
This vehicle has a recurring braking condition. The front brakes lock-up when normal to moderate brake pressure is applied while driving on wet pavement. The result is that it sends the vehicle into a slide. The lock-up is more likely to happen on asphalt than concrete, and has not been noted, yet, on dry surfaces. The vehicle's brake system has been tested by the selling dealership and reported to be working correctly and safe. After this latest incident, I took the Jeep to an empty parking lot where I would not hit anything. I checked it at several different speeds, and at just 15 mph and with normal to moderate brake pressures, the brakes would lockup; rendering no control until the brake was released. When I released the brake, the Jeep would immediately continue in the direction the wheels were pointed. I am 60, driven all types of vehicles and in many different location over the world, and to date, have never seen a vehicle respond this way. There is definitely something wrong and I feel that an examination, more in depth than the dealership can perform, is needed to isolate the cause. I am fearful for my wife and grandchildren safety, and besides reporting the condition, would like to know if NHTSA has a facility in this area that could conduct additional testing of this nature. And if so, what would be the cost?.
